Excellent vid Xarkun, I wish WG would make it mandatory watching, but with that in mind the old saying "you can lead a horse to water..." comes to mind.
Thank u xarkun Iv been asking a few utubers to update these builds as it's not really been done for over a year at least what with all the new commanders that have been introduced in that period iv been playing nearly 2 years and most people use the same commanders builds
I don't play BBs much at all, but I do apply this type of thinking to my Alaska. Sure, I can set it up to reach out to 20k but I like hitting most shots and raking in citadels then being able to go back undetected with a sonar and radar to give me info when needed and radar is better the closer you get its range to your own detection range.
Came into this video because I main destroyers and have now started levelling battleships. I was thinking about inspirations and was thinking accuracy or Kondo. Exactly what you spoke about. Thank you for affirming my initial thoughts on battleship building!
Doing the Lord’s work on a Sunday. Thank you for making content like this. These videos are how I learned to play the game over the years. Hopefully new players take the time to watch and learn from the CC’s. We have a great group, including you, Xarkun!
Nice breakdown. Always appreciate your opinions, and have been using a more stealthy build on my BBs. It does appear to be increasing by life expectancy! Thank you for trying to educate our player base.
Concealment is king across all ship types. I like the accuracy builds most but, some BB's like a speed conceal and distraction style (Gneisenau and Champagne) these ships can get to cross fire positions fast but may not be able to get a lot of damage. So in that case just make yourself a juicy distraction. Gneisenau and champagne also have good AA. so they can really hole their own while going solo.
That's a good point about using Kondo. Thx for showing why and how to use it. I will definitely try it out. I actually really enjoy Di Revel though, since a shorter reload on a Bismark for example is really nice, having around 22sec of reload time. This way I can put out a few more shells into the ships. I already use concealment mod and found it very useful in getting close to make my German secondaries start opening up. So Kondo might even more improve that. Many interesting ways to play the game, I love experimenting with the builds. So thanks again.
Great video Xark! You're preaching to the choir here though, concealment is very important in battleships. I've had Kondo maxed for a long time and he's a solid inspiration. I'm almost always solo so WTR is worthless to me...haven't ran that skill in a long time. GG...enjoyed watching!
I started running kondo on my Georgia so I can push up with out being seen and use the Georgia speed .so thank u for showing kondo a while back in ur videos. It was and still is a great idea xarkun. 👍plus having American bbs at 12.5 is same as a cruiser with double rudder.
I think you're really competent and reasonable. Im a WoWs veteran, but just recently switched to Legends. I was never that big for BBs but I understand the game well. So starting out in Legends I got an amazing offer on the Hyüga and I took it. Basic game understanding really goes a long way and its nice for me to see that I somewhat played it right already: Like you I chose the accuarcy BB captain, like you I took Prop Mod and like you I try to go towards the "weaker" (say: with less blue BBs) flank and get into a kiting position. I also spammed HE the moment BBs were bow into me and to my surprise, Hyuga is really good at it actually (I guess 12 guns just do that). But as I spend so much resources into this commander (which has been really improving the Hyuga a lot, I think its a great, consistent ship) I also kind of force myself to go down the IJN BB tech-tree line, because I just lack the commander and commander resources to change that path now. Is the tech-tree line compareable to the Hyuga or should I go more towards the US ships? On PC IJN BBs are really sitting ducks for CVs and from my understanding AA does a lot more in Legends, especially US AA. So that would be one reason for example. What do you think about the IJN in general?
Hey Xarkun, I just wanted to say that what you did is an awesome job here about how to build your BB commanders. Thank you for content by the way. For Will to rebuild, I look at it both ways. One, you are right regarding the flaws of Will to Rebuild in Standard matches since most players are completely dependent on it in order to not get taken out of the match. This absolutely causes poor sportsmanship in the game and tears up cooperative gameplay. Another thing is while I agree to your points regarding Will to Rebuild being nerfed in the future, I believe this crucial skill is somewhat of a life-saver for division matches. I know I may be guilty of using WTR constantly to protect my teammates but at the same time, if my division teammates need it, they do need it BUT, only IF their health points are critically low. My point is I think WG should restrict the use of WTR only in division matches if a player is invited to a division or is creating a division, whereas other skills such as Fight Fire with Fire should be restricted to solo matches.
This played out like a classroom in BB philosophy, not surprised really, Xarkun's the resident Vulcan on how to play logically and I've utilized much of what's been taught on this channel. I've never used WTR, and inevitably it will be nerfed by Wargaming at some point, which will expose the players who relied on it way too much, like a dope addict relies on their next hit. It encourages poor gameplay. Though I do wish to make an observation. Lately I've been strolling the AI game mode and I noticed something... The AI itself is almost consistently doing things that players regularly complain about regarding live players. I've seen AI ships leave their flank completely, I've seen full health battleships early in the games go for the ram and AI destroyers will often ram one another at the start of a match. New players are seeing this demonstrated by something Wargaming designed, and it's likely influencing some of the behaviors, to varying degrees, that I see in the Standard Mode matches. Just an observation.
Kondo helps so much specially when u start it helps ur position. And helps ppl stop spamming u when they can't detect u anymore. Most bbs are around 13.5 to 15km and using kondo helps u get way lower.its gives u time to move and not get focused when they can't see u.
I don't use Kondo but i use Concealment Mod on my Battleships, and i use Azur Lane New Jersey as a Trait for more Damage over 10 km. I do like that you used Free Commanders as Inspirations though. I'm more aggressive in the American BB's so i use Steering Gears so i can avoid Torpedoes.
Even if you're playing aggressively, Kondo as an inspiration is still going to serve you well. You'll be able to get closer before being spotted and control your pushes more easily. I still use Kondo on, for example, every German BB too, which I think massively helps push them in closer. I like AL New Jersey as a commander though. Not for an inspiration slot. But I definitely am using her on a lot of American BBs these days.
One of the most fundamental and important guidelines in this game is don't be the first guy the enemy team spots. It simplifies so many things when you're not under fire one minute into the game. Don't be the first guy spotted.
Any comments on when master mechanic based commanders are useful? It seems that only specific ships should be using it. I find that given the quality of the player base, matches are often decided before those extra heals can be used.
When I describe the role of a BB, I use the phrase “project power.” The existence of an enemy BB in your area is a threat no ship class can ignore, and thus becomes something that dictates your movement and placement in ways even a destroyer doesn’t given a BB can reach out and remove you quickly at over 15km. Even the aspect of tanking damage is part of that power projection as you’re trading your vast health pool in exchange for your team pushing forward and creating new opportunities to put your high alpha damage to use. If you’re somewhere that prevents you from projecting your power in a helpful manner (i.e., being somewhere you can shoot from but aren’t pulling damage away from, or being somewhere you can pull damage from but can’t shoot effectively from), then you’re in the wrong spot.
Iowa is best at 19km, but it’s rare to maintain that range, you’ll still be smashed by normalization. When there’s a cowering Destroyer by me hiding in smoke, I charge it. Because otherwise I’ll catch 15 torpedos as compared to two, since it’s not often you can dodge them if you are broadside. Since you can blast them out of the water (weird right). You gotta take a cheap no skill hit and cough up ship service fee. I have will to rebuild! I’ll still get smacked by one salvo. When I play cruiser, I take cover on the opposite bow side of the battleship. It tanks for me, I provide radar/ sonar, extra AA, legendary perk power, extra cannons, and bonus secondary guns. Because the poor guy will get citadeled through his guns, and HE spammed over rocks. Teamwork! Plus I rarely get three fires. I’ll have two, then damage con, then catch another fire and lose another 3rd of my hp.
I use brawler running with scissors and Lee. I feel like if your concealment is good enough you can pounce from 9 or 10 km away and have them dead in a minute or less maybe one shot. Tuck up on a island to limit your exposure to guns you are not fighting.
I enjoy the video but WTR isn't broken I use it with all my BB when I have run that legendary perk on my BB I never get that 3rd fire's on my ship's so I'm waiting on the 3rd fire losing health. So it's kinda wasted skill maybe they need to drop it from 3 fire's to 2 fire's. But when I use my WTR I'm pushing forward but as i say what works for you might work different for someone else but great video we do need other builds it does help
The FFwF skill isn't about the fact that it puts out fires if you have 3 going and no DCP. That should basically never come into play unless you've mismanaged your DCP. The value of that skill is the non-special effect, which reduces fire damage taken by a percentage (15% when the commander is Legendary Level 3). Fire damage takes 0.03% of TOTAL SHIP HP with each tick. So if you have a BB with 60,000 HP, you get lit on fire, and you let that fire burn for the full 60 seconds, then you lose 10,800 HP. The FFwF skill, at legendary level 3, cuts that number by 15%, meaning you lose significantly less HP because of that skill. That is the value of the skill. It has nothing to do with the special effect that procs when you get 3 fires when your DCP is on cooldown.
I always use fight fire with fire since I'm a solo player and I have to deal with so many enemies with 2 bbs next to each other that won't die cuase there keeping each other alive with will to rebuild and its frustrating. Even if ur whole team focuses one of the ships thay has will they almost won't die.
I tend to always add sims and the pan euro captain that does hp/speed as inspirations tbh. Tho ive been wondering if doing a repair party based inspiration based build 🤔
I think Sims is good for DDs. He'd fall under the sort of "universal" inspiration slots because having extra HP on the lowest HP class in the game is always a benefit, no matter what the DD. Same is true for concealment on DDs as well. As for the Pan-Euro line, they have the fastest torpedoes in the game, and they reload pretty quickly too. They also have pretty decent guns, so they're one of the lines you can kind of build either way and be ok. But they're also probably one of the more difficult lines to play with the fairly slow speed and no smoke screens
@@Xarkun I actually use sims and the other hp captain on my Khabarovsk an I'm nearly at 28k atm, but it man possible to hit 30k which would be everlasting beautiful in Khabarovsk.
Wait what happened? Way way back rudder shift was recommended even in BB's and now its considered a bad option? I haven't played this game for probably half a year so did something change?
I build all my battleships for reload speed more shells down range over accuracy any day of the week. Tier 5 renown can get a reload time a 14.6 seconds what's 16 inch guns
RGA isn’t rendering it’s the guaranteed range of acquisition - basically if a dd is in smoke of behind an island you will spot it within that range 👍🏻👍🏻 even if you can’t see it.
Yes, but if you look at the breakdown of what the mod does there are three things. One is increasing RGA range by 50%, which is what you're referring to. That increases the guaranteed acquisition range from 2km to 3km. The other part increases torpedo spotting range by 20%. The thing I was referring to being unsure about was increase the "spotting range" by 20%. That's not the same thing as RGA, but it's part of the RGA mod's function.
My question is somebody that is fairly new to this game just over couple thousand games why isn’t from tier 6 up, the players get stupider and will not do what their shippers supposed to do you got destroyers who hide behind me in the Iowa class at 16 km The people in cruisers think they’re gonna fucking battleships. I just don’t get it. I have more fun playing at level three that I didn’t level it because it leaves the people down and we’ll talk and try to work together.
Irrelevant after the nerf, but Will to rebuild was really for the stationary behind the island flame spouting American cruisers who only have enough fuel to find the nearest island. Yeah, I hate American cruisers. Park your BB there, buster.
