I am a follower of swamiji and I feel so lucky to be born in his time. I have a doubt about BEEF BAN in India. I currently live in the USA and when I talk about India banning beef, my counterparts here question me that: 1) How can Hindus eat chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp etc but just stay away from beef ( even though we consider cow as the motherly creature in our religion) The life is a life and when you take away life from any living creature, it feels the same pain. So how is killing of other creatures justified but not cows. Instead should hindus stay away from eating meat and be pure vegetarians. Is that true?
Anita Gault please be advised that there is no ban placed on the slaughter of cattle( which includes cow camel and buffalo). No matter what you perceive this as, it is only in place here today to control the procurement of cattle in the markets. Practicing vegetarianism, veganism or being a raw fruitarian is all up to one's personal sensitivities. Meat/garlic/onion etc are all thaamsik food which would affect the praana shakthi. But killing of GAUVANSH was definitely banned always in ancient vedic India, every Indian scripture talks about cow. Only cow's products like govar(gobar), it's urine, it's milk, curd and ghee are the only prescribed things for a yagya. That is the importance of cow for all Indians.

The word dravidans came to existence during Indus valley civilization which is during 2000 BC even a long long before the Britishers or the french tried to enter India. And according to Darwins evaluation theory or our Hindu Dasavatara, the first human form is the hunters, they hinted animals for food. So basically we all could be Non vegetarians. The people from africa migrated to India , Sri Lanka and Australia and lived as hunters and gathers. Some settled north in the Himalayan regions. The people in India were these people : they have ample fertile land and the knowledge of agriculture and they grew really fast resulting in an advanced civilisation. At the same time , the settlers of the Himalayan regions , were more averse to the tough conditions and grew separately worshipping shamans. They were mostly hunters . After the breaking of the ice, they migrated downwards from while the Indus valley deurbanized due to change in the course of indus and drying up of Saraswati. There were an intermingling of people as the Vedic shaman gods like nature forces mixed with more deity gods which were generally marked by good crafts and art. Together they formed the vedic religion. The real support for this is the de-urbanisation of Indus Valley and the urbanisation of Vedic people took a gap of 1000 years. So it is impossible that these people believed any sort of migration happened. If so called aryans came from Central Asia , they would have urbanised quickly because Mesopotamia was already advacned.
