That guy is a monster behind the kit. His 4-way independence/coordination is out of this world. It's like listening to a 4 channel drum tracker but better. I believe he was one of the pioneers in electric/acoustic hybrid kits, incorporating triggered sounds into his playing/soloing. Very nice pick as always Garey.

Absolutely agree! I wish more reactions were out there of him. He’s legendary in the drummer community though for people who know their drummers. Virgil Donati, Dave Weckl and Akira Jimbo are the absolute best drummers I’ve ever come across. Each one is an alien from Planet Drum

I love this solo. I remember buying this DVD when it first came out. He has been playing left foot clave for a very long time. Awesome musician.
I saw him live in 2001 and it's blown me away when he play Mission Impossible theme all by himself.
