You are absolutely right Devin the adopted family deserves to be researched this is what I'm doing now the biological family I'm still looking into and researching separately

Biological family research can be so difficult for the even experienced genealogists. Researching adopted family lines can help build folks' skills to tackle the biological family research.

My adopted father has done a HUGE amount of research. I mean, his tree goes back to th 5th century! Researching my biological family is tough! Their record seem to be purposefully destroyed.... it's a strange story.

I just discovered you! Subscribed to your channel and email list. Thanks!
My question is: My birth mother's father is unknown. Her Mom got pregnant back in the early 1930s and was sent to an unwed mothers' home in a neighboring state. Any suggestions for me?
Also, from a chance comment hidden on a distant relative's Facebook page, I might have the father's name. He died in the 1980s. My feeling is it would do no good to try to contact his kids or grandkids. What's your opinion on this? (I am okay in my heart to not know if it comes to that. I was advised at an early age to never ask my Grandmother about this and I honored that request. Her daughter--my birth mother--died when I was young.)
Thanks for your time and consideration.

Which website do you recommend for searching for my ancestors in the Caribbean islands?

I always start with the FamilySearch Wiki and this tends to direct me to record sources. www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Caribbean Click on the country of choice and you'll be guided through invaluable resources and search strategies. Good luck.

Is this channel affiliated with any gene collecting database companies or anything in that industry? I’m just curious.

Not that I know of but she has a lot of videos to learn Family Search and Ancestory.com to help you get started.

Thank you but I came across this channel when I watched a video of a man who apparently does many DNA family videos & whoever he is, he’s far from an expert & left me puzzled. I then looked into the channel for more information & decided to see another video which resulted in my question.
I appreciate your quick response. Thanks

As far as family history, my family keeps its own very meticulously & over at least two & half centuries. We transferred it to hard drive about 10 years ago & continue building. We are up to approx 27,000 people to date.

There are several genealogy related channels on TH-cam. Most of of them are independent of any database companies. Unless you're on the FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Findmypast, Ancestry, or BYU Family History Library channel, you're accessing independent creator channels.

I hate to be off topic, but I wanted to check if anyone has experience with WeGene?
I uploaded my daughter in laws 23andme results over a year ago. I am not even sure it uploaded now. Just curious, I never seen any mention of WeGene on here.

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics
      @FamilyHistoryFanatics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

WeGene is a genetic testing company but it isn't a genetic genealogy company, meaning, they focus on giving you ethnicity reports. Since ethnicity results aren't always accurate, I don't recommend people test just for ethnicity results. Check out this video for why th-cam.com/video/i70SZRW9t90/w-d-xo.html

@@FamilyHistoryFanatics OK. I see a place for matches however there are none. I tried to re-upload the DNA file again today to make sure it was working and still no matches appeared. She has maybe a 100 Chinese matches on 23andme. Just trying to see if there are more or some closer.
      Thanks.

Have you used the FamilySearch Wiki to find out what is likely available for that location? If you haven't, watched this video to learn how to use that resource. th-cam.com/video/jIR6hatnyEE/w-d-xo.html
