Tiger fan here, just a bit curious to see how O's fans feel about making a deal. Seems like there are more than a few who would be against it, so the fanbases might be pretty close in alignment. I'd say the Tigers have done a sh*tty job of getting any return for the stars like Verlander and Martinez they have traded away but that would be insulting to things that are sh*tty. If they trade Skubal they risk alienating a fanbase that is just now returning in any real numbers. Tigers fan here-I agree. If Tigers deal Skubal, the front office have no faith in what the Tigers can do in the next couple of seasons, and we have rebuild 3.0 which is just plain depressing.
Skubal is the best pitcher in baseball and hes just getting started. Yes, you can point to other pitchers that have accomplished more in their past but thats what makes Skubal so enticing his HOF career is still in front of him.
I’m not as MLB expert when it comes to trades and what not and l’m an Orioles fan but we definitely need some pitching if we want to win a championship. We have so many good prospects in the farm system that we don’t even have the room for all of them to play as full-time starters on the field anyways. So, l will say just trade some of them prospects to fix our weaknesses so we could get what we need to go and get someone that is not a rental as well.
If Baltimore won't offer up 3 of their top 5 prospects, Detroit won't consider. Trading a power lefty in the middle of a Cy Young season and pennant race is a hard sell to the fans and owner. Plus, the Tigers were great when they kept trading their farm for actual players. None of what they traded for Miguel Cabrera, David Price, or other big gets turned into stars.
