    The handwritten letter is a great idea and a good way to show respect to the property owner. 👍🏽❤️

    Thanks for the information on obtaining permission and research. Been at this new way of life for only a year or so along with my wife and we love it!! I use the Historic aerials and old Platt books. Time to start writing letters!! Thanks for the time you put into this upload and your professional approach to all you do! I do miss your cane fields of Louisiana, they were amazing!

    After mailing your letters, when is it safe to say you won't hear anything back from them? What's the longest period of time from the day you mailed your letter untill you received a form of response from the property owner you've mailed? Love seeing your content! This is great information.

      I'd give it a full two weeks or maybe three. You never know how busy folks can get. I've had it take that long several times.

      @@IDigHistory thanks! I think it's the anticipation that kills me. The first week I started to write after using your advice I wrote the man who owns the oldest structure in my home town and scored some really cool things there. It was the oldest property out of the 8 letters I sent and the only one I heard back from, so I was fairly excited and surprised to receive an email from him. Glad you got to go spend some time with your brother, thats awesome. If you ever find yourself in the nc triad and have your gear with you, let me know!

    Wat makes coins and relics go in the ground? Is it the weight and how long does it take?

    • @IDigHistory
      @IDigHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're usually dropped or slipped out of a pocket. The older the deeper usually. It's crazy how much money is actually just in the ground.

    How about an even more basic question…do you have any recommendations regarding a good basic metal detector to get started with? I have a 200 year old farm house with 68 acres and I am curious as to what may be in the surrounding pastures and fields…

      Just catching up on responding. Sorry! Garrett and Minelab both have some great starter machines. Nokta Simplex is prob the most popular beginner model right now. Gets great reviews.

    Great video- BTW do you actually hand write the letter or type and just sign it ? My cursive is atrocious. LOL

    • @IDigHistory
      @IDigHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hand write them. Just write slow 😂
