Saw them open for AK3 in Chicago a few weeks ago. Had not heard of them but have not stopped listening to them since. Definitely a good find! Great band.
Gizmo I know I was hoping they would do an interview. Pat does a couple of podcasts (axe to grind and worst possible timeline) that u should check out if u haven’t
Maybe you can answer this here cuzin.... All the interviews ive seen he kinda trashes his band, their not hard enuff, their fat and kinda lazy, etc .... Is this the dudes only band he has ever done?
@@wra7h He might have went a little harder since he knew they were doing a short set, but I've seen other live videos of them where he'll skip certain parts or just kinda sing them instead of shouting most likely because his voice is so worn out.
absolutely scintillating, best new band (to me at least) i've clapped ears on this year by a country mile. please come to London's famous London (Engerland) so i can tell everyone i knew you before you got crazy famous. bigupyerselfs to the Minion Death Cult pod for turning me onto this brilliance. 10/10
Sean Montgomery I will say although the band hates the Weezer comparison, a lot of the rhythm guitar compositions are very reminiscent of early Weezer. Most apparent would be Grubby, where the technique of adding the top string to power chords is used heavily
Today I read about a lawsuit from a lab where the janitor was annoyed by some alarms and cut the power off and ruined 20 years of samples...and thought about the first song on this set.
Not sure I get this format - is it KEXP TH-cam only?? But the bottom line for me is that if there's a way that KEXP can showcase these less radio friendly and incredibly awesome bands then I'm all for of it. Looking forward to more of these sessions and more from Drug Church.
Crispen - We had to temporarily relocate away from our Live Room at Seattle Center in order to retrofit our studio with a floating floor as a result of nearby construction. All of the Seattle sessions between November and mid-January took place at Avast! Recording Studio with KEXP staff producing. Not a format change, just a different location. Jackson/KEXP Production Manager.
@@hearmeshimmer ah, that makes sense. I guess what confused me is that when Idles came through they were very careful not to drop F bombs (including changing a few lyrics) and these fine fellows went balls to the wall in Weed Pin so it felt a bit disjointed in that sense. Hope the construction went smoothly. :)
@@allofthemmilkingwithgreenf7493 if you look at what they're doing piece by piece, no not really. Talkin' hardcore has been done. Conversational lyrics that sound like unedited self-dialog have been done. Midwest emo guitar has been done. Ambient has been done. Etc. *But* I haven't heard all those ingredients put together in the same way these guys do. It's in an uncanny valley between catchy pop punk and avant garde noise.
I'm going to go see them play, stand in the front and then fold my arms in the classic Syracuse chill pose so they feel at home. You better play like your life depends on it to get a single fucking head nod out of me.
Saw them open for AK3 in Chicago a few weeks ago. Had not heard of them but have not stopped listening to them since. Definitely a good find! Great band.
Saw them open for Trio in Stl. Rad as fuck band.
This was also the tour that got me hooked on Drug Church, probably one of the best openers I've seen
When he says “fuck you at 12.50 an hour” I felt that
$12.50 is quite a lot... the minimum wage here is £9.50
@@wra7h Are you joking? Do the conversion!
@@wra7hNo. Just no.
addictive riffs, thought provoking lyrics, they’re the perfect band !!
Love this band.
fan after seeing them live last week
I wish they would record the whole album in that session cause every song sounds so sick
they are insane at shows THEY FUCKING ROCK
That Samiam shirt tells me everything I needed to know. 10/10 Can't wait to see these dudes with The Bronx!
0:00 Weed PIn
4:23 Grubby

awesome performance, sucks that they werent interviewed, patrick is very fun to listen to
Gizmo I know I was hoping they would do an interview. Pat does a couple of podcasts (axe to grind and worst possible timeline) that u should check out if u haven’t
Their audiotree performance has him interview and play songs. It's so amazing.
I played a show with them last year and he was super sweet and talkative afterwards. Definitely an interesting guy!
My mom also....
Maybe you can answer this here cuzin....

reading youtube comments
2024 still reading them
Guitar/bass tones are always soooo satisfying with this band. I can only hope they come to Calgary one day.
The state of Punk is amazing in this last years.
Yeah man. Especially if your into hardcore/post-hardcore stuff like this. With bands like knocked loose and varials as well as these guys... nice!
I am so glad i found this band
Love from sweden! Fifth time on a loop! Melodic and melancholic! ❤️
so fn good
I love everything about this.
His vocals sound so much better here than on the album.
this^
Debatable but both versions hit in their own awesome way
He needs a vocal coach tbf this sort of shout won't give him too many performances

9:35 Holy shit ,Such an amazing song

Sad guy....
Check out their album Hit Your Head if you’re new to this band. It’s pretty solid
Love the Samiam tee!! Also love his Tad tee!...Bear vs Shark meets Cursive, meets the Pixies, meets Hot Water Music! Big ups!

Когда умру, похорони меня в моем мерче - это точно увеличит нам продажи.
saw these guys tonight in dallas...goddamn...so good
Man, can we get them to re-record Cheer in the KEXP studio? Audio is always so crushingly on point.
Hot damn I love this band
the new record is so beautiful, man.
Wow, this is amazing. I hear lots of 90s posthardcore and their own unique voice
I'm getting mushrooms and undertones of licorice and star anise.

Been my favorite band for a couple years. I know the end is near...
who doesnt love this. totally rocks it. got that henry rollins vibe going with the vox and this at the drive in hooky punkstyle.
absolutely scintillating, best new band (to me at least) i've clapped ears on this year by a country mile. please come to London's famous London (Engerland) so i can tell everyone i knew you before you got crazy famous.
bigupyerselfs to the Minion Death Cult pod for turning me onto this brilliance.

Love this band ❤️
this bangs
SWELL! What a session!!!
Some of the lyrics and mannerisms of the lead singer strangely remind me of the hold steady.
I was wondering what was insufferable about this dork. Nailed it.
@@junghunt8645 I think they are alright to be fair. I do find the hold steady a little sanctimonious however.
Underrated band.
Man these dudes never disappoint
Great band, great performance!
Muito foda!!!!
Cheer was one of my favorites last year. Thanks for having them on
Loved these since seeing them support Boston Manor last September
Nice one lads!!! New album is an absolute banger!!!!
SOOOO GOOD
Love love love LOVE
It's like Rollins and Weezer in one band. It's cool
Bazil Che Actually it’s like Drug Church.
No. It's not
Sean Montgomery I will say although the band hates the Weezer comparison, a lot of the rhythm guitar compositions are very reminiscent of early Weezer. Most apparent would be Grubby, where the technique of adding the top string to power chords is used heavily
Y'all ever heard Jawbreaker?
Thats exactly what i thought. They are amazing
Where have I been? Reminds me of Dag Nasty and other DC stuff

So fucking good! "Cheer" is one of my favorite albums from last year. Wish this was at least half an hour longer...

Shit, this is really good.
Holy shit this is fantastic. New fan right here
Today I read about a lawsuit from a lab where the janitor was annoyed by some alarms and cut the power off and ruined 20 years of samples...and thought about the first song on this set.
They sound exactly the same as the album... What kind of engineering is this?
lol you need a hearing aid
Is the singer from treephort??
This is the real Aggressive Punk, Hellyeah!!!
Man, Scott Aukerman is a pretty bad ass vocalist
Jess DeCoux Scott Rockerman

Wow!!! Bear Grylls cool band!!🤩🤩🤩
Great! A new album of the murder city devils
set list?
Just like Attila. They like that comparison.
All my favourites rolled into one like a Willy Wonka sweet
I always thought that room was waaaaaaaaaaay smaller than that.
heavy Pegboy vibe!
There was a place between Nirvana and Pixies, but drug church took it!! 💣💣💣💣
Exactly this and maybe a little Black Flag just for good measure.
the bridge riff in the last song is very dinosaur jr
Pinche madre porqué no están en México
Ojala algun dia vengan, tengo un año que los descubri y estuve muy atento cuando sacaron su album en noviembre.
These guys are one of the most original music acts in the last decade.
I think they're solid but original? Not really. Which doesn't matter that much to me tho

There a very good rehash of early 90's grunge with a tint of hardcore
If you like these check out some early Bronx
They're 21st century seaweed
Their last album is a fire!
Reminds me of big black. Mixed with Weezer or some low end grunge
Fuckin awesome ain't it, throwin some Nirvana/Pixies too
I would say Joy Division of 21century. Fucking amazing!
