I think those straight 1/4 notes really add to the wallop too. Literally the cadence of beating the shit out of something. Wishing you well with the dissertation man. Would love to see you tackle Alien Hip-Hop when you’re back for some fun rhythm trickery

Related to your intro, I'm realizing 15 years after getting into metal that I really loved hardcore the whole time. Getting into metalcore in the mid 2000s, the genre had some crossover with melodeath. I was learning guitar at the time, and Darkest Hours' Kris Nortis was a big influence on my style. Laiho and others hooked me with their proficiency. Looking to hardcore now, their creativity is easily on par with anything the technically proficient metal heads were making, and punk culture is cooler anyways.

"I already disagree with you". Ill have to use that in casual conversation. Just choose violence out of nowhere.

lol bro the breath at the begining had me dead. I had to rewind so many times just to understand what you was saying after my laughter died down

Love me some Jesus Piece, definitely one of the angrier bands out there. I feel like a similar misdirection buildup that kind of hits you differently out of nowhere, but is consistently throwing curveballs at the listener throughout the buildup’s runtime occurs in Atlas’ Taivaanranta at 2:30 to 3:00, at this point I’ve grown used to it, but the payoff (breakdown) really caught me off-guard the first couple of times I heard it

That song slaps so hard. Need more deep dives on Conducting From the Grave's "When Legends Become Dust", probably my all time favorite Melodic/ Technical Metalcore album.

What I really like about Hardcore bands recently, is they do all these sick rhythmic modulations and tempo changes by feel. I like how it's free of metronome, feels way more natural and primal this way. Really a skill that is forgotten by most bands these days.

i'd love if you looked at Came by Sexual Jeremy on their album: The Real Sexual Jeremy...
the whole track/album is bonkers, but @ around 3:26 things get absolutely insane. i have no clue what's going on.

    Hi dude, love your channel.
Have you considered counting the tempo change as triplets? To my ear, they’re taking two quarter-notes of the 3/4 and playing them as such.
