But when you pulled the GBP chart and showed how the U.S monetary policy pushed the GBP down and how we can mixup the technical with the upcoming U.K monetary policy was an eye opener. Solid. For me, fundamentals find their greatest value in developing a longer-term bias on a pair, index, commodity etc. Anything between a month and 6 months. It’s essentially the why of price action and helps better explain why you’re seeing and trading the setups that you do. Sentiment has greater value for intraday opportunities - small news releases, press statements etc. But the bigger reports i.e. Inflation, Interest Rates, Trade Balances, Central Bank Balance Sheets etc. should be viewed in tandem with prior releases to find some kind of long-term perspective, on their own they don’t really mean much, and the spikes you’ll see on their release alludes to the sentiment that’s already there around them.
