finally a good tier list for the majors, launders’ tier list was so biased towards blast it was insane
launders triggered me so hard with his transfer tier list where he said fallen did well with Imperial 🤣
@@neues3691 i mean he kinda did well with Imperial.... considering the team is not good
This is too biased for 2015/2016, which I thought was the least interesting period in CSGO.
@@jdiscountInsane opinion tbh. 2015/2016 was unparalleled by all but maybe 2018 and the last 4 months of 2019.
@@neues3691fallen is so washed. Man's is coping to jeep brazil from torching him
maybe im just insane but i had winter 14 at the worst rank due to the fact that the players that lost the quarterfinal won the major
LDLC crying when they used the same boost albeit way less powerful. gotta admit made for a moment in history tho.
Correct Opinion
@@nguyenminhhoang6127 Fnatic also filed a complaint about it tho
I have always thought Astralis' run at Faceit London was underrated. They beat FaZe (#4) in quarters, TL (#3) in semis, and Navi (#2) in the finals. Its the exact matchups you would want a #1 team to beat to prove they deserve the major but many seem to forget about it when ranking major runs against each other. Sure the event itself was pretty ass, but it was a legendary playoff run!
Only one map dropped at the event too! An OT loss to TL in groups
Faze had internal issues, TL just choked all the time and Navi only had that rating thanks to s1mple and s1mple alone.
Love seeing ELEAGUE atlanta getting the love it deserves. Not only was it the two best teams in the world playing in the final at an extremely high level filled with insane clutches, but the VP vs SK series in the semis and that insane comeback they made against North were classics. One of the last great runs from the poles combined with the first step toward greatness for the danes.
undeniably one of the best playoff runs by both finals teams and an all time great final tbh
name a better duo than Thorin and calling flusha a hacker (in a game called minecraft)
Please make this tierlist format a series. Love your takes and your knowledge on these things are nearly unmatched in this scene. Hope that you one day could rank or do a tierlist on all time IGL’s some day
Launders version of this “ man this major was just soo good” thorins version “ here are real, authentic and well thought out reasons this major was the worst/best”
Katowice 2015 will always hold a special place in my heart and is probably my favorite major along with Eleague Atlanta. Playoffs were all great with the only disappointing team being Penta, but that's Titan's fault for bombing out again. The el Classico final was top notch and had a great storyline that really saw Fnatic assert their dominance over the legendary NiP lineup. Cologne 2016 is really let down by the final between SK and Liquid if I'm honest. Definitely top 4 major of all time, but it was so underwhelming and SK just obliterated them. S1mple didn't even put up a good fight.
Yup, Cologne 2016 was disappointing. Fnatic vs SK would've been a more entertaining finals. We missed out on Fnatic vs SK (LG) in Columbus due to Olof's wrist injury
Would be cool if you did a video just like this but for katowice and cologne tournaments that arent majors
Another god tier video, but still waiting for you to ascend and make a tier list with the best players to never win a major in csgo
One really cool thing about the Katowice 2015 Major is that in the semi's you had all four teams who previously won majors.
So in the 5th Major one of these four teams was destined to be the first team to win a second major.
The Cloud9 Boston Major win was one of, if not the hardest playoff major win in history. They had to run the gauntlet to win this major. Thats why I have Boston up there, not saying it's the best though. For the reverse reason I didn't like the Paris major. Vitality had the easiest path to a Major in history.
I loved watching Gambit at Krakow and I thought it was a fun major overall. Too bad that tech issues and bugs were so prevalent.
Would love to see something like this for Quake or BW LANs.
DH Winter ‘14 also had the KQLY and Sf bans right before the tournament and the bullshit of Valve disqualifying Titan and Epsilon not letting them requalify at all.
ohh first ranking and then explaining is a new take on the tier ranking videos, I like it
Always listen to Thorin ad intros because they are relevant to the video topic, and entertaining. Well done.
Events in America and/or run by PGL are two safe bets for good solid majors it seems
In my opinion. Rio was at least a C tier major, and that was just on the energy of crowd alone. If the crowd wasn’t so insanely bias and just showed an insane amount of love to everyone it could of been so much better.
But the Navi vs Furia match in the semis was incredible. Not the csgo that was being played, that shit was mid at best. But just the crowd absolutely losing their shit had me tearing up for Furia when they won. Some of the chants they were doing sounded so fucking intimidating dude it was beyond badass. I absolutely loved the air horns and the drums and the chants.
I've watched the last 15 majors and attended Cologne 15, 16 and Berlin but I would rank Atlanta as the number 1. Perfectly run major and awesome Play Off games all around.
does anyone know which clip he is referring to at @ 23:34 from aizy? The aizy deagle ace I remember was from CEVO Professional Season 8 vs VP not from cluj napoca
the famous deagle clip from this major was Happy on inferno right?
Good job, Thorin. I can only judge Majors that I watched myself (started watching CS:GO in 2017), and I think you ranked those ones fairly.
I would say however that Paris Major's Navi vs. Faze wasn't a good game in terms of level of CS being displayed. Both teams were in poor shape and there was a lot of wacky throws from both sides. However Gamerlegion Heroic was pretty epic imo, yes Heroic did choke it in Heroic fashion, but GL displayed some insane mental fortitude despite all the big game big stage pressure and their comeback was pretty epic.
Rio one was pretty meh indeed, every top team shit their pants there.
Lmao the only thing I think about faceit london’s major is your video, post-major, just shitting all over the event 😂. I watched that video like 5 times. Time to go rewatch it. Goated content as usual 🔥
my problem wasn't that tier 2 made the majors for Paris, its that tier one looked terrible except for maybe Vitality. no one was really in good form, we had tier 2 teams with 2 players basically winning against tier 1 teams that should have 5 better players on paper
Oh live show..i can get behind that!!! damn i need some CSGO matches soon!
I think all of your criticisms of Boston are super fair and while it's not the best finals I think it's the most romanticized. Like if I were to make a CSGO 30:30 about any major Boston is easily my first choice. Also the production was certainly top 5 at worst I know you didn't rate that as a criteria but as a regular viewer the casting and analysis has to be considered and Boston was nearly perfect in that regard imo
Thorin loves this game so much, you can see him resisting the temptation to overcrowd the S Tier. It's awesome. 😁
can we add how shit the modern Souvenirs that dont have player signatures into the weight of how bad a major is? they could just do them random round MVP when the coin is redeemed and people would try farming the better signatures and valve would make bank
Watching right after watching launders' video doin the same. I feel there will be a difference between how youll rank paris 😂
(He put it s tier)
23:30 wasn’t that aizy clip at CEVO?
28:30 wait what does "tournament area game" mean? Whats the issue?
He means that some of the teams there were not even up to par with NIP, the only teams that were any "good" were VG, FNC and NIP
he means it wasn’t on stage
launders did one recently, I watched his too
You'll notice most of the best games in history had virtus pro in it
What i get from this video is, the old VP had the best games at majors
shouldve titled this video a tier list! regardless great content
I agree on almost everything but I'd put stockholm in the top 5. Amazing playoffs bracket that had all the teams you wanted except maybe faze(this was before they got ropz), one of the all time best games we ever had in majors(niko vs heroic), a banging final, even the G2 Nip game was fire and it was really cool seeing all the salty swedish fans who thought NiP would actaully do something relevant
anyone have that Aizy clip? 22:20
More like IEM Gaules 2022 am I right?
I just feel like a major cant be S tier if the final is terrible. Like the sk liquid final is one of the 3 worst finals in major history. Yeah the rest of the major was good but S tier has to have a good major and a good final. Cologne 2016 is a A tier major for me. Almost the best major ever but let down by one of the worst finals ever.
Stockholm #1 for talent.
Berlin is straight D tier. It was trash.
To me as long as good games happen and the format isnt total trash the rest is academic.
In terms of overall tings (presentation, games, crowd, talent etc) MLG columbus is number 1 for me. Had a ton of fun watching that
