    SO GLAD I already have the QC! You keep making me buy things! Very nice work as always. Hope to see some CLoud Content for the QC from you

    I have been curious about gen loss. The part you pointed out quick about it NOT being solely ambient context was so interesting.

      I have one, and it is pretty neat, but I am going to set it up in the loop of my HX so I can have better control of the mix, it just has a 3 way on the pedal, I think it really should have had a mix knob. Things can get out of control fast with it.

    I was curious if the Dunlop vol/exp pedal worked with the QC. Now I have even more stuff to buy besides the QC though. 😂 I hope you have done a breakdown of how to use the conduit. At least I have all my UA gear already. Glad I stumbled upon your channel. You are basically doing what I had in my head.

    How did you get your QC to receive midi clock? Mine does not seem to receive any midi tempo info from my selah quartz.

    Don't know how intentional it was but the intro reminded me a lot of Pianos Become The Teeth. Great playing as usual. I'm really interested in experimenting with some of the Chase Bliss stuff in the near future (when my bank account allows lol).

      -16db for send and +12 for return should get you to unity. No idea why it’s set up that way, it took me some digging to figure it out

    Hey Mark! Great sound. I have a similar setup heavily inspired by your videos. QC and Mood MKii + Microcosm. I wonder how do you set your fx loop levels on the QC? It sometimes hard to not clip the Mood or Microcosm.
    By the way, did you ever shared this preset on the Cortex Cloud? That can be very helpful.
    Thanks!

  • @axelongaro1261

    Can someone explain me the benefits of using a MC6 with the QC? Isn't the QC supposed to handle midi clock and preset changes on your pedals? I'm brainstorming a future hybrid pedalboard with a QC and wondering how much am MC6 could improve my experience.
    Great video nonetheless!

    • @bryancrawford6513
      @bryancrawford6513 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sure there are others more qualified to answer this, but I'll take a stab. First, you're absolutely right, the QC can do it all, and if you save presets in a way that is very exact for particular sets/songs/song parts then you wouldn't need an MC6 or equivalent. I find that have a controller for pedals outside of my QC to be advantageous, just like when I had a HX Stomp. I save presets like delays and reverb types with low, medium, and long trails/repeats so I can adjust real time. Also you can toggle certain features on and off on the pedal level. It looks like Mark is using his QC in a stomp mode setting and the MC6 would be an extension of this for the CB Pedals. Nice to have, but not required. Best of luck brother!

    If you're looking to record something, what do you reach for - the QC or the UA Dream/Ruby?

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It honestly depends on the day. If I am running a valve/tube pre that requires cab sim it’ll be QC. If it’s pure boutique-board-nonsense it’ll often be the UAFX amps for ease of use. but day to day i feel like I am always pivoting.

    • @paulc4935
      @paulc4935 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markjohnstonofficial Thanks for your reply, Mark. Bought an iridium, then traded 'up' for a QC when it was released but it just didn't do it for me - tried other alternatives until stumbling upon the ruby/dream, partially down to your reviews. Deciding whether I need stereo or just the simplicity of one (that sounds similar to my tube amps). Anyway, thanks for the good content

    Hey Mark, great vid! I noticed the velcro on your board - I was wondering why you prefer using velcro over Temple's locking system?

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I use multiple boards; mono, temple, pedaltrain so the plates are not viable as a basis for my current brand-agnostic approach. But also when I was only using temple I was never a huge fan of the plates anyways because my boards got changed around too much and I needed more flexible spacing than that.

    Love the vid! Do you have any reason you like the run the gen loss after the mood? In my mind I would always run it the other way around.

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I generally like Gen loss as close to the end as I can. Maybe only ahead of my last in chain reverb. I like being able to save loops in mood and let Gen loss continue to change it / the tape stop in the Gen loss is amazing and should be late in chain.

    • @cs2859
      @cs2859 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gen Loss works very well as a "pseudo studio aftermath" effect at the end. In recordings, everything goes through analog gear and what not before making it on a record. In my humble opinion, this is was Gen Loss excels at. Taking the pedal board, and "putting the finishing touches" on it

    Wonderful video! Gained yourself a new Sub! Could I ask what size temple board and what patch cables you are using kind sir! Looks like the Duo 24 which I'm interested in downsizing from my bulky Duo 34 but I've been using the D'addario "custom" DIY cut patch cables and the terminal ends are a little thick for my liking

  • @d1g1t0ld
    @d1g1t0ld หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why else do you have the MC6 pro on there? The quad cortex will send midi commands so is it JUST for the tap tempo?

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      QC still has underwhelming midi functionality outside of clock so the mc handles clock as well as translating midi from DIN to TRS as well as more easily changing out what pc and cc messages I want to send to those pedals. Can also send things like midi cc waveforms which the QC cannot do.

  • @udiptodutta

  • @KorhanErel

    Beautiful sounds!...
    A question: is there a specific reason for you to not use the MIDI jack outs on the Morningstar and use a MIDI Box instead?

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the Morningstar stuff will take clock from a daw and set its own internal clock to match. That means the tempos are the same but that’s not the same as being locked to the grid of your project. A midi interface device will literally pass clock from the daw on to your gear which is how you do things like perfectly sync microcosm to your grid.

    • @KorhanErel
      @KorhanErel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@markjohnstonofficial ah ok so the morningstar jack midi outputs don't send midi clock to the pedals. Or maybe I wasn't clear in my question.

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Morningstar midi jacks send midi clock from the controllers internal clock. But by sending midi 5 pin to the strymon conduit I can choose between using the tap on the Morningstar / sending preset changes and what not or using clock from my daw over usb C directly to the conduit. It’s just a more versatile set up for my uses.
