Gert, when I discovered the pipe organ 50 years ago, organists were heard and rarely seen. As a non-player, I never thought much about how this wonderful music was created. Now, thanks to you, I'm fascinated by all the console activity - it's part of the total performance. If TH-cam is any indication, there are many fine organists in the Netherlands, but I haven't seen any as comfortable with people and cameras crowding in as you. Keep playing to your strength.

Gert is a natural teacher, very charming but also a strong character. I love hearing him speak Dutch, his own language - even though I only understand by reading the subtitles!

Gert is an absolutely astounding young organist! I bring greetings from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin in the United States. I appreciate this very much. Rev. Dan G. Olson, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

That was an extremely nice impro on Conquest of the Paradise, Gert!
Plus, I'm very proud of you that you don't "just play" the organ, but also introduce and actively promote the instrument among the public. Thanks for the presentation!

I only recently 'discovered' Gert on TH-cam and have already seen several live stream concerts on both a home organ and several church organs.
Today is the first time I see him in this setting where he not only shows his playing quality but also his quality being able to show and promote the organ. You can see that he loves what he is doing.
Hopefully there will come a time when I can see and hear him playing live in stead of over the internet

Prachtig Gert hoe je dat allemaal uitlegt, heerl erg leerzaam om naar te kijken, zouden organisten vaker moeten doen, is heel leuk en meteen een blik in het orgel werpen, en daarna een prachtig concert!

I very much enjoy these organ demonstrations. It get's people of all ages interested in the pipe organ, which here in Canada is often referred to as a "dieing instrument". Any time people ask me who a good organist is I always say Gert van Hoef!! I hope I can visit the "motherland" aka The Netherlands, where my parents immigrated to Canada from in 1949 on the Volandam!

Thank you Gert, you make it all sound so wonderfully simple, the Organ is indeed a wonderful instrument that goes back many hundreds of years, it is a magical instrument of many sounds and moods and your expertise brings out the best of these instruments. I would like to hear you play on one of those wonderful Cavaille-Coll Organs that have a sound all of their own one day . One of the best i have heard in St Ouen in Rouen it has five manuals a magnificent instrument great sound !!

I have come back to this video over and over. Not only do you have a tremendous talent; you as a person come through the screen, no small feat. I love pipe organs, wish I had the ability to play. Your explanation of the different stops was one of the best I've encountered and answered several questions I've had. Thank you! I must add that the interaction between you
and the charming older woman is heart warming.

I am so grateful that there are young organists such as yourself. So many of the local organists here are grey haired men who are only fair musicians. You give hope that the art will continue.

Love the sound(s) of this organ - as so well demonstrated. Very organic and varied - it's not all "knock your socks off" combo sounds: some of the nicest character is from the simpler sounds.

Dear Gert: you are a brilliant organist and I love it when you produce another wonderful video on those glorious old instruments! I would give anything to play them even for just one minute! Mind you, I am nowhere near you in talent, but my love of the Organ is absolute and you have provided me with much joy! Thank you so much! Oh, by the way: the date on this video says 2017, it is currently 2016. I mention it not to criticize, but for future archiving of your career performances, I thought that this might be important. I wish you every success and an await your next video with happy anticipation! Your Canadian fan: Larry Stewart. 😃🏅👍👏

A thought arises in response to your comment that he is a 'brilliant' organist. He is of course. But THAT is Not why I am amazed, and taken, by him. I have found some of his deeper performances to be transcendently beautiful. Not just beautiful, but uniquely so. I have simply Not been 'taken away' by wondrous musical beauty - by any individual - like I have him at times. PS. I'm not the only one who has communicated that point.

This video tells me a lot about Gert and the organ. Right away you can see the effect of the faith and church attendance In Gert’s life. There is a reason parents should bring the children to church. Also ... I can see the organ is very complex..... but .. I would love to have Gert transcribe for organ ... John Adams ‘s piece ...Short Ride on a Fast Machine.. Ha!

Think of the poor regular organist who now must try and make that organ sound as good as you did! Fascinating to see the Trumpet divided into bass and melody stops. I have not seen that on English organs.
