AC/DC are Hard Rock! They could've have filled all 10 spots with anthems, and only make it to # 4...WTF? I agree with some on this list, but Bon Jovi hard rock? You kidding right! Then Van Halen should've been included too!
Bon Jovi has some perfect hard rock anthems! “You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Livin’ On A Prayer”, & “Wanted Dead Or Alive - “Slippery When Wet (1986) I’ll Be There For You” and “Bad Medicine” - New Jersey (1988)
The *REAL* top 10 hard rock songs list: 1. AC/DC - Thunderstruck 2. AC/DC - Back In Black 3. AC/DC - Highway To Hell 4. AC/DC - Hells Bells 5. AC/DC - TNT 6. Guns N Roses - Welcome to the jungle 7. Deep Purple - Smoke on the water 8. Guns N Roses - Paradise city 9. Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love 10. Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
+josh white Some of it is! At least that's what everyone informed in the bussiness says! And honestly, songs like you give love a bad name are Hard Rock.
I have some criticisms, it I have to say, you got #1 right for this category. First the criticisms. Choices early on made me wonder if you knew what hard rock or an anthem was. You also put Livin on a Prayer in the regular rock anthems list, so I guess you don’t know where to categorize it. Kudos for putting Andrew. WK in the honorable mentions. It is actually too new to get in the top 10(Yes, I know it is close to 20 years old, but most of the songs in this list are much older). Thumbs down for using the Slase version for One on Feel the Noize. I know they wrote it, but Quiet Riot did a better version. Finally, I picked three better choices for the bands in spots 2-4. AC/DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long is a better choice, although For Those About Rock is not a bad mention there. For the Scorpions, your choice was good, but my alltime favorite song is better. It just has everything. Even the guitar intro is better. Finally, for Kiss, I think my second favorite KISS song it fits better here. Detroit Rock City is not only anthemic, lyrics remind you to get up Everybody’s gonna leave their feet, get down, everybody’s gonna leave their seat. You gotta lose your mind in Detroit Rock City. The only song that might fire people up more is Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit. I mean a song that people riot to at Woodstock says it all. You did pretty good, all in all.

@jondavis_thank you for the list it made it easier for me to skip listening to the #1 song. #5 is overplayed too. I like the acoustic version of Living on a Prayer much better.
The real top 10 10 - Estranged 9 - It's So Easy 8 - Nightrain 7 - Welcome To The Jungle 6 - Mr. Brownstone 5 - Patience 4 - Knockin On Heaven's Door 3 - Sweet Child O Mine 2 - Don't Cry 1 - November Rain
should make a list of top 10 most hated countries in the world 1. US 2. US 3. US 4. US 5. US 6. US 7. US 8. US 9. US 10. the rest of the world (ifuknowwhatimean)
There is a list that does exist elsewhere, last time I checked, Israel was the most hated country on the list. The US was in the top 3 though from memory.
I get it, but no, We’re Not Gonna Take It is a much more Revolutionary anthem. Raging against authority compared to just rocking hard. We’re Not Gonna Take it has a similar message to many Rage Against the Machine songs. It is just not as heavy.
Hey...what Eddie Van Halen pioneered with hard rock synth keyboards, EUROPE's Joey Tempest and Mic Michaeli perfected. And unlike a lot of other hard rock/hair metal bands at that time, EUROPE kept their focus on trying to make quality music, i.e., 'the eyes on the prize', and tried to kill as many social and media distractions as they could. And in truth, that group, minus it's 2nd guitar player Kee Marcello, didn't really feel comfortable with the rock media's encroachment into their lives. I think I read somewhere that Joey was eventually starting to see red with a lot of that. And an angry Joey Tempest is something I'd REALLY not want to see. O.o So, Eddie, it might be good to keep that in mind when talking about certain groups....you could be a fan of worse than EUROPE, Van Halen, et al. *cough90sboybandsandgirlgroupscough* =P
Couldn't agree more! The band, the song, and the negative emotions they all convey together are cancerous!! Especially this "rock" song, lol. Hard? Not without enough Viagra to erect a heard of elephants! The keyboards alone announce the end of a great musical era.
AC/DC is the greatest. The comment section knows it. My vote was “For Those About to Rock” at #1. That song, along with many others, was a rock masterpiece.
When I saw Paradise city at number 7 I was like ¨Oh god, which ones are next? All these songs cheer you up when something brings you down :D You forgot POISON. Nothing but a good time MUST be here.

guilherme siqueira for being around 40+ years and their blessed guitars , AC/DC should rank only among Iron Mädchen , GN'R and Black Sabby , the rest are just the sideshow of it all
Based on my concert experience (ACDC in Moncton, 2009), if there's going to be an AC/DC song for this list, it should be For Those About to Rock. Just because ever since they came out with the song, it's always been the show-stopper and gets the most crowd interaction, which I think that's what an anthem should be, with everyone there involved and loving it. Just my thoughts!
10. Kiss - Rock n Roll all Nite 9. Van Halen - Jump 8. Europe - The final Countdown 7. Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane 6. Def Leppard - Pour Some Suggar on Me 5. No Motley Crue??? Girls, Girls, Girls? Dr. Feelgood? Kick Start My Heart? Seems silly that they didn't even get an honorable mention, yet the Slade version of Come on Feel the Noise did? Kooky
I think you need to learn the definition of hard rock. These are rock songs... they are not HARD rock.Guns N Roses, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, and Scorpions are acceptable. I love basically every song on this list but most are not hard rock.
Alex Perez it's true that all of this is rock at the end of the day , but they did title this video '' Top 10 Hard Rock Anthems '' , so its not the best feeling when a favorite band of yours gets taken down a place or two by some bands that possibly even aren't in the specific subganre . But , this is only my 2 cents
Your a fucking moron then. This was hard rock then and is somewhat now, but this "new era" of "rock" is pretty much metal so the line is sort of blended... This is all hard rock, because it sure as hell isn't metal nor rock 'n roll
My top 10: #10 Girls Girls Girls- Motley Crew #9 We Will Rock You- Queen #8 Welcome To The Jungle- Guns N Roses #7 We’re Not Gonna Take It- Twisted Sister #6 High Way To Hell- AC/DC #5 Runnin’ With The Devil- Van Halen #4 Crazy Train- Ozzy Ozbourne #3 Livin’ On A Prayer- Bon Jovi #2 Tom Sawyer- Rush #1 Rock and roll all night- KISS Honourable Mentions: You Give Love A Bad Name- Bon Jovi Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen Jump-Van Halen Detroit Rock City-KISS

Guns'n'Roses+Metallica=Avenged Sevenfold. I am not even kidding, M.Shadows said, those 2 bands are were they get most of their sound. And A7X was the one who made MetalCore a worthy Metal Genre. they BFMV came in and added Heavy Metal, and a bit of Screamo, so there for NO BFMV is not MetalCore, they are Sped-up Heavy-Metal Screamo, nothing wrong with that. Both are amazing.
Some nice soft/pop rock songs here but off the top of my head I would go.... 1. ACDC - Whole Lotta Rosie 2. ACDC - Highway to Hell 3. ACDC - Problem Child 4. GNR - Sweet Child of Mine 5. GNR - Paradise City 6. Led Zepp - Rock n Roll 7. Deep Purple - Sweet Child in Time 8. Skynard - Freebird 9. Led Zepp - Achillies Last stand 10. Rainbow - Kill The King. and many more I will surely think of later....................

I was to choose a Twisted Sister song... I Wanna Rock... considering we're talking about ROCK anthems. We're Not Gonna Take It is the least popular song on this list, poor choice, the rest, yes!
10.Panama-Van Halen 9.Wild Side-Motley Crüe 8.Paradise City-Guns n Roses 7.Kickstart My Heart-Motley Crüe 6.TNT-ACDC 5. All these songs are legendary in their own right, but the vast majority of songs/artists on this list are not hard rock. Sure, they may rock hard here and there, but they are not hard rock. Then again, I suppose it's mostly due to one's own rock threshold. In other words, it's like thinking jalapenos are incredibly hot. There's some kick, but some people need habaneros just to notice anything.
They're categorized as such by the music industry in general (record labels, critics, award shows, etc...). If you look up these songs in official music sites, you'll find them in the hard rock category most of the time whether you personally agree or not. Hence, that's what WatchMojo based their choices from.
Well you have to remember that Rock and Roll All Night was convinced as an anthem song. It's probably one of the greatest show closers in rock history. I remember going to a show on the reunion tour and they stretched it out to almost 15 minutes while whipping the crowd up into a frenzy with the sing along for the finale.
We are not gonna take it number one really I mean it's not bad enough it passed highway to hell Also rock u like a hurricane My opinion ( opinion don't judge just give me ur opinion ) 10-final countdown 9-here I go again 8-we are not gonna take it 7-paradise city 6-schools out 5-pour some sugar on me 4-livin on a prayer 3-rock n roll all night 2-rock you like a hurricane 1-highway to hell

Highway to Hell, I didn't love every minute of it, I loved every second of it.
Theme song of my life and last song of my funeral (it's in my will)

I know!! I was pissed when there was no Mötley Crüe on this list
+rory cannon me i was like where is Mötley Crüe at
+zrizzle yeah motley should have been on this list.
I think they considered Mötley as Glam Metal
Alice Wang Glam Metal isn't even a real music genre they just called it that because they looked transgender, Motley are Heavy Metal/Hard Rock

+jesusfish No they don't
+jesusfish Because they don't suck, it is clear, isn't it?
Honestly how is AC/DC at #4
They are ignoring AC DC
Rest in peace Bon
Yah too low
"first performed with Thunderstruck"? Wtf?
Watchmojo should know
.
This list could be 10 AC/DC songs, with honorable mentions for AC/DC
haha, exactly was I was thinking!
yes.
no. OVERRATED!!
@@danielschyttelvik6104 fuck you your opinion does not matter
Daniel wildlife nothing you ever say will ever be relevant again.
You know ou are going to hell for putting acdc on #4 do you?
theyr on the highway right now
StimpYJCatZ haha, Yknow, Hell ain't a bad place to be
StimpYJCatZ to be fair, at least they chose a song sung by Bon.
James Leslie they are both legends my friend;) but Bon is my favorite to Rock in Peace
Ac/dc is just rock not hard rock
no led zeppelin on this or the rock anthems list...what the penis is going on?
We maxed out our Led Zep quota on all of our other lists ;) - in all seriousness and fairness Kashmir was an honorable mention on the Rock one, and Led Zep have epic tracks but in terms of "pure, straight up anthems" there are others that scored higher and stood out more. Plus, some variety is good...
Fair enough
Bila Bong and led zeppelin is a cover band
Lennart de Ruyter what the fuck are you talking about?
like i said they stole their music from other artist(s) trust me,... google it
How is AC/DC not #1? they are the definition of hard rock
Rock God they ARE the hard rock
ikr but i still like Twisted Sister
They're also a bit of blues rock.
deep purple and led zeppelin are the definition of hard rock. this chart is all about glam.
Jay Dick, Glam and Hard Rock don't exactly go together
back in black ac dc is best
Watchmojo thinking about Hard Rock: "Sunshine of your love? We Will Rock You? Smoke on the Water? Purple Haze? NOPE!"
"Who's Jimi Hendrix ? Ohhh the guns and roses drummer ! why would we put him on our list ?"
we will rock you was no. 1 on the rock anthem list.
We will rock you is no way a Hard Rock song!
Flood Wow, that's... (A joke).
Flood Although, to be fair, Foo Fighters was started by the drummer of Nirvana, so... Give him credit?
80's my favorite decade, there is everything, pop, rock, hard rock, glam rock, synth pop, metal was rising, than there was some funk, disco, dance, electro, like whatever u want.
Right On Brother!
Latest 60s and early 70s are my favorite
***** nirvana strated in the 80s but didn't get big until the 90s ;)
I agree. the 80s had it all when it came to music.
so true
highway to hell should've been at number one on this list, i mean it's AC DC.. c'mon..
fr this writers never had any list on their channel right
Not Van Halen or Deep Purple? Fuck this list.
No Zeppelin? No Aerosmith? Come on! :/
I agree Aerosmith should have been up there but no quiet riot metal health that's crazy
Black Snow Go make your own list lol but I agree with ya
Crazy right
They Aren’t really hard rock more classic rock I think that’s why they’re not on here
@@DanielCruz-me7lw
C'mon Friend obviously Aerosmith, Led Zepp & Van Halen are more heavy And better than Pop Jovi
10. Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses
9. Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi
8. School's Out by Alice Cooper
7. Highway To Hell by AC/DC
6. Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions
5. Rock and Roll All Nite by KISS
4. Helter Skelter by The Beatles
3. Dream On by Aerosmith
2. Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy
1. Youth Gone Wild by Skid Row
Dream On?
Dude that's legit my favourite song but it's not Hard Rock
I forgot, I would choose I’m 18 over Schools out, but it still fits. That is actually the first Alice Cooper song I knew. Also kudos to Alice for helping Dave Mustaine get to the sober state he is in now. Without his help and the help of some others, Dave probably wouldn’t have survived. That would have been on par with losing Chris Cornell, for me.
7 of these are hair metal...
That's because the 80's is when the best hard rock songs were recorded.
Hairmetal is a subgenre of hardrock, so is Glam metal
Exactly
10: School's Out - Alice Cooper
9: Youth Gone Wild - Skidrow
8: You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi
7: Rock Of Ages - Def Leppard
6: Final Countdown - Europe
5: Panama - Van Halen
4: Girls Girls Girls - Motley Crue
3: Nightrain - Guns N' Roses
2: Back In Black - AC/DC
1: Rock You Like A Hurricane - The Scorpions
I agree with this more than the actual list
Also another good one is fucking free bird
A hardrock list needs whitesnake
You shook me all night long Is better
Night train by GNR??? who has ever considered that a rock "anthem"? man, it might be in the top 5 songs off that album, but an anthem? sorry.
My opinion:
10. Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions
9. I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister
8. Barracuda - Heart
7. Bad to the Bone - George Thorogood
6. Walk this Way - Aerosmith
5. Highway to Hell - AC/DC
4. Sweet Child o' Mine - Guns n' Roses
3. Rock and Roll All Nite - Kiss
2. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
H1. Schools Out - Alice Cooper

H3. Youth Gone Wild - Skid Row
H4. Come On Feel the Noize - Slade/Quiet Riot
H5. Stone Cold Crazy - Queen
1. Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
The fact that you didn't include Highway to Hell By AC/DC makes it clear you know nothing about Hard Rock let alone Rock n Roll in general
Good list but 1. You should remove evidence and cherry bomb 2. SERIOUSLY? NO AC/DC 3. Queen is awesome but not really hard rock
Kashmir isn’t hard rock. Whole lotta love should’ve made the list
Highway to Hell is the Hard Rock song of all time
Couldn't agree more
No
What about Back in Black , Highway 🛣️ to Hell is my favorite AC DC song
.
where the fuck led zeppelin at?
This is part 2.
this is a hard rock athems list not a rock athems list led zep is rock not hard rock
If Lep Zep isn't hard rock nothing is.
Delta Wolf led zeppelin is hard rock m8 nobody would call them just a rock band
+Dennis Thies led zep been classed just as metal
I really wish you'd go into more detail about how you differentiate between "rock" and "hard rock" because I'm kind of confused...
It's hard to explain... Hard rock is more aggressive and louder :/ For an example: Rock n' roll is something like The Beatles and Elvis.
Rock is something like Aerosmith, Queen or Iron Maiden.
Hard Rock is something like Guns n' Roses or AC/DC.
Grunge is something like Nirvana or Pearl Jam
Metal is something like Black Sabbath or Metallica.
I hope I didn't confuse you even more :D
Prometheus Mors Lol, sorry :)
Prometheus Mors so three days grace and breaking benjamin would be more modern hard rock bands right?
Emmay864 Metalcore: Avenged Sevenfold
Nu-Metal:Korn, Disturbed *Early*
Modern HEAVY Metal: Spliknot
Screamo: Black Veil Brides *Early*
Early Heavy Metal: Iron Maiden, DragonForce
Early Thrash: Metallica
Heavy Thrash: Five Finger Death Punch
Groove Metal: Pantera
There are many diffferent types of Metal. Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold dont really fit in just one genre... Metallica fits in 2, and A7X fits in 5 :P So dont bash me for those xD My Favorite out of all of them is Avenged Sevenfold, what is yours?
jasper Bacon This guy didn't know the difference between rock and hard rock. I just told him the basic ones :D
“You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Livin’ On A Prayer”, & “Wanted Dead Or Alive - “Slippery When Wet (1986)
I’ll Be There For You” and “Bad Medicine” - New Jersey (1988)

6. Guns N Roses - Welcome to the jungle
7. Deep Purple - Smoke on the water
8. Guns N Roses - Paradise city
9. Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love
10. Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
Smells like teen spirit isn t a hard rock song, but is a Grunge rock song
Youre missing Shook me all night long, for those about to rock and many other ACDC songs

Bon Jovi is Hard rock? that's news to me
Well that song is a Hard Rock
Not all artists are just a single genre... I mean look at Queen
Same
+josh white Some of it is! At least that's what everyone informed in the bussiness says! And honestly, songs like you give love a bad name are Hard Rock.
They are gay but they are and so is europe lolol
Oh god really? "We're not gonna take it" as number 1?! Fine... But no Crüe or Poison in honourable mentions? Whyyyyy
+Nimtolien Lairion *SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!!!!!!!!!!* Nothin' But A Time!
+CommonCentsRob *KICKSTART MY HEART* now that is my jam
+Nimtolien Lairion Because Poison is vapid rubbish.
Dr Feelgood or Kickstart My Heart
Motley Crüe is Metal actually
I must say, there's a very thin line between rock and hard rock, but I won't complain.
Seriously ?!? Guns n roses ONLY at #7 ?!?!?
That’s about where they belong 7-10 area
Ellie Ioannou yes
Ikr wtf
Jungle and Sweet Child O Mine are missing as well
I have some criticisms, it I have to say, you got #1 right for this category.

Where does Watch Mojo draw the line between metal and hard rock?
Exactly, their definitions are very weird and ultimately wrong. Most people who are not watch mojo classify Guns N' Roses as heavy metal
According to their narrow definitions, Metal is only thrash metal and death metal
And Black Sabbath. I would consider the Scorpions to be metal
People with long hair in the 1970's are Metal and in the 80's they are Hard Rock...
Let me save you 11 minutes of your life:
#10 - "The final countdown" (1986) - Europe

#7 - "Paradise city" (1987) - Guns N' Roses

@jondavis_thank you for the list it made it easier for me to skip listening to the #1 song. #5 is overplayed too. I like the acoustic version of Living on a Prayer much better.

We'll then America should deport your sorry ass!
I don't live in the US.
i think he was talking about me... :))
I like "I wanna rock" better that "not gonna take it"...
Ditto!
I get it, but no, We’re Not Gonna Take It is a much more Revolutionary anthem. Raging against authority compared to just rocking hard. We’re Not Gonna Take it has a similar message to many Rage Against the Machine songs. It is just not as heavy.
The Final Count Down!!! You got to be kidding me!
eddieblz : and Whitesnake, c'm on Watchmojo, this list is a joke.
So, Eddie, it might be good to keep that in mind when talking about certain groups....you could be a fan of worse than EUROPE, Van Halen, et al.
Listen to any of their stuff before the Final Countdown album, they were a lot harder rockers back then.
Kinda of immediately discredits the whole countdown, doesn't it?
both paradise city and living on a prayer deserved a higher ranking
AGREED!!
Paradise City yes Living On A prayer is a Pop Song And suck.
AC/DC is the greatest. The comment section knows it. My vote was “For Those About to Rock” at #1. That song, along with many others, was a rock masterpiece.
When I saw Paradise city at number 7 I was like ¨Oh god, which ones are next?
All these songs cheer you up when something brings you down :D
You forgot POISON. Nothing but a good time MUST be here.

superwout though I object to typical "LOL" terminology , this Twisted Sister shit is the most definite , thorough and oblivious WTF in recent history
gothgirl916
Based on my concert experience (ACDC in Moncton, 2009), if there's going to be an AC/DC song for this list, it should be For Those About to Rock. Just because ever since they came out with the song, it's always been the show-stopper and gets the most crowd interaction, which I think that's what an anthem should be, with everyone there involved and loving it. Just my thoughts!
Agree even though I prefer bon Scott AC/DC For Those fits the bill best

Jump isnt really hard rock. Early stuff though, yes.
As much as I like Highway to Hell, I personally prefer AC/DC's TNT. It's simple, loud, and powerful.Just like it's namesake
I am shocked that Thunderstruck was in the intro, yet not the song they chose.
While i do like HTH.. its not their best
I think back in black is much more recognizable than highway to hell.
Agreed. TNT is definitely their best anthem.
Also a good choice. TNT, Oy, Oy, Oy!

Metal dumb ass
I think you need to learn the definition of hard rock. These are rock songs... they are not HARD rock.Guns N Roses, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, and Scorpions are acceptable. I love basically every song on this list but most are not hard rock.
what about def leppard?
Glam rock.
Dont get to caught up on genres bro. 'Sall rock at the end of the day
Alex Perez it's true that all of this is rock at the end of the day , but they did title this video '' Top 10 Hard Rock Anthems '' , so its not the best feeling when a favorite band of yours gets taken down a place or two by some bands that possibly even aren't in the specific subganre . But , this is only my 2 cents
Your a fucking moron then. This was hard rock then and is somewhat now, but this "new era" of "rock" is pretty much metal so the line is sort of blended... This is all hard rock, because it sure as hell isn't metal nor rock 'n roll
Can't believe Highway Star by Deep Purple didn't make any of these lists.
But respect for having Rock You Like a Hurricane.

Many of the concerts I went to in the 70s and 80s, the bands all played Zeppelins Rock N Roll. How could this song not make the list?
Guns'n'Roses+Metallica=Avenged Sevenfold. I am not even kidding, M.Shadows said, those 2 bands are were they get most of their sound. And A7X was the one who made MetalCore a worthy Metal Genre. they BFMV came in and added Heavy Metal, and a bit of Screamo, so there for NO BFMV is not MetalCore, they are Sped-up Heavy-Metal Screamo, nothing wrong with that. Both are amazing.

TWISTED SISTER YESSSSSSSSS!!! this is my fav. music list they have done it has almost all my fav songs on it
All these songs are legendary in their own right, but the vast majority of songs/artists on this list are not hard rock. Sure, they may rock hard here and there, but they are not hard rock. Then again, I suppose it's mostly due to one's own rock threshold. In other words, it's like thinking jalapenos are incredibly hot. There's some kick, but some people need habaneros just to notice anything.
They are also listing the specific songs as hard rock. not necessarily the band themselves
They're categorized as such by the music industry in general (record labels, critics, award shows, etc...). If you look up these songs in official music sites, you'll find them in the hard rock category most of the time whether you personally agree or not. Hence, that's what WatchMojo based their choices from.
Hard rock ? This ? :D
Tittle: Hard Rock Anthems.
No. 5: A Pop Song!!!!!!
R.I.P AC/DC
Like if you are a fan of AC/DC
I love KISS and Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister even more than I did before because all 3 bands are anti-woke!
I wouldn't categorize most of these as hard rock....
You gotta realize that the definition of hard rock has changed since the good days
Yeah Mojo is being VERY liberal with the concept of hard rock, weak...
C'mon no mention to Motley Crue? That's sad!
glam rock.
I can agree with your choice on Kiss but hmmmm, I wonder how many of you remember that song I LOVE IT LOUD
Detroit Rock City.
Every one of these songs is awesome! But Rock You Like A Hurricane is my personal favorite!
Every song on this list and honourable mentions are pure hard rock brilliance.
When my coffin is being lowered into my grave I want Highway to Hell playing. If this does not happen then there is going to be some serious haunting.

Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah should be number ONE here, but It's not even on this list. No one knows why.
