- The River Allen is one of the finest chalk streams in Britain and as it flows through the beautiful Dorset countryside, it provides a home for a stunning diversity of wildlife.

What a fantastic film. Compliments to the maker, all those involved and the DWT.
This is the first time I’ve seen this Hugh. Superb as usual!
Wonderful Film easy to watch, it nice to see wildlife and groups working together.
Indeed a GEM of a Chalkstream!!! thank you for uploading..
Just joined DWT after watching this film.
In 1965 I fished this stream above Alderholt when a friend of my father's rented a stretch of several miles from the Longford Estate. It was untouched, overgrown and a wildlife haven. The trout were small but wild and wary. I understand that commercial trout farming has moved in, as it has on many streams locally. I can't believe this has been an improvement.
Probably the River Crane rather than the Allen, as the source of the Allen starts some way to the west of Alderholt. environment.data.gov.uk/catchment-planning/WaterBody/GB108043015790
What a beautiful film! And nice to see Pete Reading pop up briefly. :-)
I do have to say that feeding bread to ducks or any other birds is not good, it is bad for them and should not be encouraged.
We probably should not feed bread (or cheese) to chub and roach either, but they seem to love it and it is hard to break the habit of a lifetime!
