Speaking as an overworked and underpaid employee of an Amazon fulfillment center: Here's what's happening - When we receive a lot of assorted LPs from a vendor, they all arrive in quantity in large boxes, which means once we've opened the box, now you have a large number of bare albums as you would see them on a store shelf, they are not individually packaged for surviving mailing/warehouse inventory. So it's left to a team to package each album and then also apply a label - all it takes is an assumption from whoever's labeling the now identical unmarked cardboard packages that they're processing a case quantity of one album to then apply the same label to all the LPs, presto, you now have one album on the website that magically becomes a pot luck item. It's a rare event since most of our LPs arrive as cases of one album from the respective record company, but it's interesting that everyone seemed to enjoy the error, Amazon should perhaps offer a grab bag/pot luck LP option..
I think your explanation makes a lot of sense. I was picturing a VERY religious employee who refused to touch the actual album, so they just grabbed whatever else was close by to fulfill the order.
There was a record label (Polyvinyl Records) which offered grab bags of records (or tapes or CDs) at a good discount. Mostly stuff they had trouble selling, I imagine, but I got some real gems from that deal.

You're so lucky to get that Overkill record for that price. I had to pay full price. As others have pointed out, it was rated as one of the best metal releases of last year. In some cases, some of these songs are long and splitting it amongst multiple lp's helps to give the best sonic quality, rather than trying to squeeze all that music onto a single lp.

Amazon rewards bad merchants for gaming the store whilst the good merchants that value customer service get punished during the crackdown. Louis Rossman has been doing a short series of videos about Amazon and, what appears to him to be, giggling contempt for the customer. To think his beef started with relaying news of a rando having his Amazon appliances become nonfunctional because of a deliveryman spouting a slur...
Regarding those bar codes, I can confidently say there is no rhyme or reason to them. I work for an electronics parts warehouse that uses Amazon for distribution. Sometimes we get parts back from them for various reasons (broken, wrong item, full moon on a tuesday) and they all have those labels. It's frustrating, because they will cover up our own labels with theirs, so trying to find out the original part number is near impossible - try peeling a stick off of another sticker. We've also noticed that we can get batches of the same part back, but all of the sticks they have are different. Just like with your records. My best guess is that it's an Amazon-specific tag simply for their sorting or records, and has nothing to do with the particular item or order. Then again, who knows. It seems like they just kinda do whatever. I've never encountered this switcheroo item issue so many others have had, but I have received books from Amazon with those obnoxious stickers slapped right on the cover. They also love to ship books in those crappy bags, so when they finally arrive at my doorstep the covers are all bent up and nicked to hell. It's a far cry from a decade ago when Amazon would send things in tight, sealed packaging.
My father once ordered a part for a boat engine and got a woman's perfume instead. Don't remember if it was ebay or amazon but it was extremely funny at the time.
I've listened to metal, a lot with "not so great" singing, since I was a kid. I don't dispute the characterization, but, as I also enjoy music with "so great singing," with metal like that, it helps to consider the singing as just a rhythmic instrument. I think if you listened to the album you'd be able to survive it, and the timbre of the vocals would blend in and sound natural to you by the end. Natural, if not so great.

I preordered a Ronnie James Dio double album on marble vinyl. After release they sent me a triple album that wasn't supposed to be released for another week, of some experimental Detroit jazz. I asked them to send me the right record and they told me it was impossible as it was sold out. They wanted me to return the wrong record for a refund, but instead I traded it for something that cost more than the Dio anyway! But I still want the Dio album! I recently got an Iron Maiden album off Amazon, had to return it as it was wet inside the shrink wrap, obviously from the factory!
Oh my god I'm going through r/vinyl now and it's truly amazing. What a beautiful glitch. Someone got They Might Be Giants - Flood. It's small moments like this that make you love technology. When it can create weird spontaneous moments.
This sorta happened to me recently on different album. Right record wrong format. Bought a double CD but received the triple vinyl version which I was fine with. Only charged for the CD which was priced 3 times less.
I have had that issue several times when trying to order SACD, you just get the regular CD but at SACD price so nope and return... I know this format is a little niche but the fact that it doesn't have a proper category i a bit annoying as listings can be misleading I once ordered a record of Underworld - Second Thoughest of the infants (Used) and I received the cd, which I already own, return again. I am really weary now of anything that is not sold by Amazon.. Also, don't know if you guys noticed the bunch of chinese junk sold at $0.99 or less but with outrageous shipping fees? (reminds me of ebay in a way)
One of Amazon's more entertaining goof-ups. I have a feeling they'll return to this idea pretty soon. Lots of people would pay $11 for a random record (myself included!) I thought that one Amazon review you showed was kind of funny. I would LOVE to order a controversially-titled Danzig record and then receive a Wilco record in the mail 😂🤣
@@glitchsister Honestly, Adele had been overestimating her popularity since "Rolling in the Deep" was 'rolling in the dough'. Wal-Mart's Supercentre no. 5139 had quite a large stock *(5 whole rows worth)* of "30" CDs sitting unsold in the 'Home Entertainment' section for a while.
A similar thing happened to me. I ordered REM’s Document, and received a hip-hop artist named Remi. I returned it and tried again but got the same results. I guess it was Einstein’s definition of insanity but I’m not sure on what end.
Regarding the overkill album, Some heavy metal bands like using only the outer half or so of the record because base/treble response starts to decrease the closer to the center of the record you get. because of changes in linear velocity. so they only stamp the outer sections for better sound quality.
Another reason I just hate the record scene now. What a bunch of idiots. We’ve fixed all these problems decades ago. Don’t produce new records, just listen to the ones that already exist and were produced for decades.

I once tried to buy a computer case and got a completely different computer component from the same brand. After two deliveries of that same item, I figured out the problem: Zalman had somehow reused an EAN for both a computer case and hard drive enclosure.
The same thing happened to me when I intended to buy Heartbeat City expanded edition a while back. I ended up with Kenny Rogers' Greatest Country Hits instead. I ordered a replacement, and the same album arrived again. Too bad it wasn't cheap like that 666 album or I would've been a rich man.
I once bought a copy of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On from Amazon. The first side was normal, but the second side started with Neat Neat Neat by The Damned. It turns out the second side was from the soundtrack to Baby Driver.
If that wasn’t purposely done, that would be a very valuable record for there was an error made in the master copy. I’m sure production would stop immediately once it was noticed.
I'm relieved to know I wasn't the only one to experience this issue. Over a year ago I bought a copy of Weezer's BLUE ALBUM of all records and instead I got a '70s funk compilation. 😂
I just got into rebuilding my vinyl collection about a year ago and have found that a lot of the newer pressings that I have purchased have been warped to a certain degree. I'm not sure if it's a QC thing or a materials issue in newer vinyl formulation or what.
Once ordered some $55 hand drums and got a box of drum parts, heads, and even a timbale drum. All worth over $300. Sent it back for a refund. Karma. It’s cool you’re not into the Overkill music but for the record, it’s not devil music. As others have stated, I’d be happy to get it for the price.
First, points for showing HP sauce. As a Brit stranded in the US that is an item I always have in stock to keep me from getting too homesick. If you like it make sure to get the one actually made in the UK. They also sell it in the US at some grocery stores but it’s not actual HP sauce it’s more like A1. Funny enough i also ordered the 666 Satan's child record at least twice and all i got was the super super blues band, a blues record from 1968 featuring Howlin wolf, Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley and the second record i got was Metallica's 72 Seasons instead of returning them and ordering them again i might was well keep the records and add them to my collection.
this happened to me too a few years ago. i saw this ep by this band i like called "love is all" and i ordered it since it was only like 5 bucks and i got sent the completely wrong record twice. they let me keep both records even after i filed a return so i got an apoclyptica album for 5 bucks and then a beartooth one for free i guess lmao 🤷♀
I remember back in the eighties buying a record that had the wrong record in the sleeve. I don't remember what record I bought, but it had Deep Purple inside.
that is what happened with some pressings of hamelton the musical soundtrack. the issue there was the label was right but some pressings got the best of simon and garfunkl. odd that it happened but yea it did on some pressings
Literally every record I’ve bought from Amazon has arrived warped, and in my last three cases (all attempts with the same album), actually bent. Not even playable. Something about the way they’re storing or handling LPs is not working right.
1:55 LPN (license plate number) barcodes are always unique, they are used when Amazon needs to track individual items in their warehouse. They usually are due to returns, but in this case, it's because they were repackaged to survive warehouse handling.
Like Others have said, Overkill is a classic Thrash Metal band and with a perfectly good singer for the thrash metal genre, if you in to thrash metal, which you’re not, so no wonder you didn’t care for the singer.
Those LPN prefix barcodes, from what I remember, track to a single individual item and are completely unique. Most commonly applied to returns or reselling damaged items but since I didn't apply them I don't know every use case. I worked in an Amazon fulfillment center, and even when there were the same items with the LPN barcodes, since they are unique, you had to grab the one with the exact barcode or the computer would be mad.
I notice both of those records have a bit of a warp. I would say easily three quarters of the records that I purchase from amazon arrived warped. Also, more than half of current pressings I purchase regardless of where are warped. So disappointing because they are so pricey. I had an issue years ago where I kept getting the wrong record. I don't recall whether it was remedied or I just gave up.
Seems that the problem is in the anonymous "frustration free" packaging hiding its real identity to the sweatshop workers at AMZN Now I wonder if this would still work 1. With other vinyl records 2. In the EU AMZN warehouses, where there are a lot more worker protection laws in place
All three LP's are warped... maybe the shrinkwrap shrank too much, maybe they kept it in the wrong position fro months, but they will never be flat again. It's a shame :(
The only issue I've had with Amazon was actually my last purchase of my audio Technica lp120x turntable, and it was more so an issue with UPS. It arrived just a couple days late, but the dust cover has a pretty significant crack in it. Everything else works fine, but I'm going to have to send off for a new dust cover. Since everything else works. I'm not going to return the turntable because I know UPS would just break the next one, and it's not worth it.
I had the multiple time wrong item thing happen.. it was the pro version of something that i ordered and kept getting the non-pro version (big difference).. the listing on amazon was for the pro, but apparently the amazon inventory stickers were put on the wrong boxes.. was a big hassle.. actually also just had it happen with a monitor... box says (and is) a 24.5" monitor.. order was for a 34" curved monitor.. amazon sticker said the 34".. somewhere in the logistics the ball not only dropped, it fell through the floor into the center of the earth. You at least found a side benefit to this issue.

Louis Rossman has been doing a short series of videos about Amazon and, what appears to him to be, giggling contempt for the customer. To think his beef started with relaying news of a rando having his Amazon appliances become nonfunctional because of a deliveryman spouting a slur...
Nice to see you're a man of taste, HP is great.
Vwestilfe participating in Danzig's roulette was something I wasn't expecting!
I thought Danzig’s roulette was him in his front yard throwing bricks at random people.
I never imagined hearing Overkill on your channel :D
I have Bruce Springsteen’s “Western Stars” on vinyl, and it’s a double vinyl album but only three sides have music on. The blank side has artwork etched on to it.
That happens when long CDs are released on vinyl. You can't fit a 60-minute album on one platter.
@@danpetitpas yeah I get it. I’m just surprised they didn’t split it better, but the art on the vinyl makes a nice chance. I’ve not got another record like it
@@burkezillar Bruce Springsteen's Western Stars & Disturbed's Immortalized would've been perfect candidates for 45 rpm releases since a triple 45 would've avoided the blank side of the LP record & 45s have the advantage of superior sonics.
I believe LPN numbers from Amazon items are usually returns that were reinserted into stock as unopened and still new.
Saw Overkill in the 80's Hello from the gutter was awesome. Overkill and James Brown are definitely better pick ups than Danzig.
Overkill is a genuine good band and james brown is a legend, so for random albums, that was a pretty good result.
Aver Kill... You know, the death metal album by AverMedia...
Oh my god I'm going through r/vinyl now and it's truly amazing. What a beautiful glitch.
Someone got They Might Be Giants - Flood.
It's small moments like this that make you love technology. When it can create weird spontaneous moments.
I have an original pressing of Flood. 🍪 that is the cookie I deserve for having it.
I have to think that someone working at the depot dislikes the album due to the name and is purposefully swapping them.
Well, that will serve them right for wanting satanic rubbish.
Surely it can't be cause there be more workers than just that one
@@johnb6723hey there, don't be mean, it's not some garbage like Christian music.
I know this format is a little niche but the fact that it doesn't have a proper category i a bit annoying as listings can be misleading
I once ordered a record of Underworld - Second Thoughest of the infants (Used) and I received the cd, which I already own, return again.
Lots of people would pay $11 for a random record (myself included!)
I thought that one Amazon review you showed was kind of funny. I would LOVE to order a controversially-titled Danzig record and then receive a Wilco record in the mail 😂🤣
they've got about 80,000 over stock copies of every Adele album, you could be that lucky person
Can I pay $11 to not have to listen to an Adel album?
@@glitchsister Honestly, Adele had been overestimating her popularity since "Rolling in the Deep" was 'rolling in the dough'.
Wal-Mart's Supercentre no. 5139 had quite a large stock *(5 whole rows worth)* of "30" CDs sitting unsold in the 'Home Entertainment' section for a while.
Amazon should do that on purpose! It would be fun to wait and see what would eventually arrive.
A similar thing happened to me. I ordered REM’s Document, and received a hip-hop artist named Remi. I returned it and tried again but got the same results. I guess it was Einstein’s definition of insanity but I’m not sure on what end.
I've heard very good things about that specific Overkill album.
This happened to me on that same record, as well...3 times! Lol I received De La Soul, Fleet Foxes, and Phoebe Bridgers.
@@ozmond So people should not be able to come out with a new Album on vinyl that people are willing to pay money for? that's stupid!!!
Dynamic range decreases as you go towards the center of the vinyl. That's why ballads usually go there and louder songs are first.
I bought a LP from a private seller on eBay who it packed securely with other LPs for stuffing. In the end I preferred the packaging to my purchase!
What did they use, Greatest Polka Hits, or Reader's Digest Presents The Classics? (That kind of thing)? I'm a library volunteer, and we occasionally get oodles of these, which we give to a nearby thrift store.
@@sarah2.017 two LPs, an original label Nat King Cole from the 50s and Ben Liebrand 'Styles', both in excellent condition. NKC went to a charity shop and I kept Ben Liebrand. I've had damaged covers used as packing but to get usable records was a surprise.
Those records were pretty warped for 180 gram vinyl
Sadly a common occurrence, these days. Worse when the lp is limited edition and cost 40 clams!
It could also be because of the smaller plinth.
@@hugoku Jutht don't tell the Plinceth-- she'll be tho dithappointed! Heh! Little verbal humor, threre. Very little. I'll just be over here being quiet, now.🤣
Reminds of me the time I ordered face masks and somehow got a faucet! , Amazon just refunded my money and was like “do you whatever you want with it no need to send it back….”
The flashing gold is a cool effect
Suitcase record player works perfect, I'd like them.
Thanks for sharing
I once tried to buy a computer case and got a completely different computer component from the same brand.
After two deliveries of that same item, I figured out the problem: Zalman had somehow reused an EAN for both a computer case and hard drive enclosure.
Overkill is one hell of a band 🤘I’ll come back and give this video a look later.
Right dude. I love Overkill. Classic thrash band.
"Elimination" FTW.
@@TitanTed E! Limination!
Instant collector's item!
If that wasn’t purposely done, that would be a very valuable record for there was an error made in the master copy. I’m sure production would stop immediately once it was noticed.
Ok, we need a review of that Crosley
Honestly, my music tastes are so weird I would enjoy both albums.
"The singing isn't that great"
To be fair, it's thrash metal....
I'm relieved to know I wasn't the only one to experience this issue. Over a year ago I bought a copy of Weezer's BLUE ALBUM of all records and instead I got a '70s funk compilation. 😂
That overkill album is pretty fire though
I just got into rebuilding my vinyl collection about a year ago and have found that a lot of the newer pressings that I have purchased have been warped to a certain degree. I'm not sure if it's a QC thing or a materials issue in newer vinyl formulation or what.
modern pressing are all crap, its just mp3 files on a record.
Second, I just went through the same thing. I wanted a HDMI hub and the first time I got a pet toy and the second time I got shower curtain. Finally got it sorted but sheeesh!
Love your channel!
Overkill is fucking awesome!
That James Brown album is one to keep for sure.
Nice warps on the James Brown & Overkill 😩
The LPN numbers indicate that all were previously returned.
that color look some of the platters of old Hard drives of 80s
that is what happened with some pressings of hamelton the musical soundtrack. the issue there was the label was right but some pressings got the best of simon and garfunkl. odd that it happened but yea it did on some pressings
I love these videos random records vinyl sounds like roulette
Literally every record I’ve bought from Amazon has arrived warped, and in my last three cases (all attempts with the same album), actually bent. Not even playable. Something about the way they’re storing or handling LPs is not working right.
LPN barcodes are unique to each item even if it’s the same at Amazon
The new Columbia House s̶c̶a̶m̶...opportunity!
I guess Amazon Fullfilment Centers are in a river of boxes!
I noticed all 3 records you played, they all have a noticable warp when spinning!
Overkill is my teen music back in end of 80's.
Yeah, that band has been around a LONG time.
Reminds me of BMG and the random albums you would get if you forget to cancel. Glad you can get some use out of 2/3 albums.
Computer: that barcode is raw! It’s so raw ever the customer wouldn’t take it anymore!
Better than that one guy who ordered a TV and got an AR-15, I guess.
Unless you need a rifle.
The 8-Bit Guy has entered the chat...
James Brown? Overkill? SCORE!
Seems that the problem is in the anonymous "frustration free" packaging hiding its real identity to the sweatshop workers at AMZN
Now I wonder if this would still work
1. With other vinyl records
2. In the EU AMZN warehouses, where there are a lot more worker protection laws in place
Overkill record is really good
All three LP's are warped... maybe the shrinkwrap shrank too much, maybe they kept it in the wrong position fro months, but they will never be flat again.
Reminds me of the guy who ordered a Sachs OEM clutch from Amazon for his BMW and received a Formula 1 car clutch instead 😅
I love HP sauce. I'm glad the local Shop Rite has it lol
