Hi! Great video. I know this is for TH-cam videos, but do you know how to track Vimeo events? Our GA4 is tracking our Vimeo events, but can't figure out how to show it in a report. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Elaina, Hello! And thanks for the kind words. I've never set up tracking for Vimeo events myself, but if I understand you correctly, your tracking is working well. If the issue is just in getting your event data to show up in your GA4 reports, the culprit *may* be that you haven't registered a custom dimension (or dimensions) or any of the Vimeo video event parameters you've created. GA4 is kind of weird (or at least different from UA) in that custom event parameters created in GTM need to be registered as custom dimensions in GA4 in order to be visible in reports. Very helpful video but unfortunately I can't seem to import video progress. I already had a custom dimension named 'video_percent', but I can't add it to the dimensions in the report for some reason. Also segment 'video_started' and 'video completed' is showing in the report, but nog video_progress. I then tried adding only '50' and tried exact match and all other matches, but it still doesn't show. Any solutions to this?
Well I'm not completely sure, but the custom dimensions don't create data retroactively, so if you just created it (the custom dimension) that's perhaps the reason you're not yet seeing any data in your reports. I'd recommend waiting a couple days and giving it another shot in building a report. Best wishes!
Fantastic video, thank you very much. At 5:40, I only see (not set) in the dropdown box. I don't have 10,25,50,75 values to choose from. Any idea why? My GA settings have been correct for a few months, I believe. I didn't have to change them besides adding a custom dimension today. I also see past data for video_starts and video_complete. Thanks!
Hi there! I'd guess that you're not seeing those values in the drop down because you had just registered the custom dimension. I've found that it sometimes can take some time for my property to auto-populate them. I bet you'll see something different tomorrow. : ) Also, I'm curious, can you still type in your scroll depth thresholds (10, 25, 50, etc) if they aren't yet populating in the dropdown?
@@rooted-digital You were right on, today there were values to choose from. However, for some reason in the report, I still see only (no set) under the "Video progress" column. Yes, I could still type the thresholds when there were no values to choose from. I could type any value that I wanted, including invalid ones, like 90 or 95. Thank you very much.

In terms of "not set", this generally happens when GA hasn't received any information about the particular dimension. I would expect / hope that this will diminish now that it's properly recording data for you. I still personally get "not set" in my own event data, but it's a small minority of what I see in the event parameters. If you want to read more about, I'd encourage you to Google "not set in GA4" or related and there are other folks who deal with the same. Best of luck! Zack
