Thank you again for this interview. I'm one of those ex-JW for over 30+ years. As Paul Grundy said, I am glad I left and therefore my children weren't raised as a JW . I pioneer, served where the need is greater, etc. After 12 years of marriage and 4 children, I left the marriage and organization. I was never disfellowship , so never shunned by family still active. I only started listening to these ex-jw channels recently (2-3 months). There were so many things I didn't know about the organization until now. When I left the organization, I found support from reading many books that had nothing to do with religion, mostly self-help books. I glad to say my children all received their degrees in their profession. I am a happy, open minded, retired 74 year old. I look forward to visiting Paul Grundy site. Thank you Paul and all the other ex-jw for taking the time to spread information to open people minds.

I loved this interview!! And I'm heading over to Paul's channel right now to check out his videos. We woke up at a time when there was very little information and I'm so grateful for people like Lloyd and Paul who put in hard work required to do this activism and it's WORKING!! JWs are waking up like dominoes as each person wakes another.

I think a lot of people who keep up with your channel would agree that the manner in which you present your information has hugely contributed to many of us having much more peace of mind and really given us a boost in our healing process.

Paul---- THANK YOU a million times over! The first time I saw your site (just the link to it) I immediately FLAGGED IT as apostate! (I saw it on a news article while scrolling through the comments, and warned the person who sent it to me that there was an apostate link on it... whoooooo! lol) Anyway, I feel that it was a small part of my shake up wake up process. Later, after viewing the Royal Commission- I bravely went to JW.FACTS and checked it inside and out (figuring things may have been taken out of context etc) Each and every point you made was spot on as I sat with my bound volumes etc. I also happened to have my original 1989 magazine that was later changed as you described- and I remember at that point feeling that I could completely trust everything on your site... Between JW.FACTS, JWSURVEY and JWSTRUGGLE- You all seriously helped me when I needed it most! Lloyd thank you for the interview!

Terrific Lloyd to have Paul Grundy on! I'm grateful to you both for assisting me in fortifying my waking up process. I'm literally being phone-call harangued by the Elders now from my congregation trying to chase me down as they know I've been fading basically since the May 2017 convention after delving into the pervasiveness of the JW pedophilia problem and two of the convention subjects - push sweeping the 1975 and "the generation of 1914 "predictions/false prophesyings/false expectations under the rug and also the convention symposium on "Safeguarding Your Children" in light of JW's systemic child sexual abuse and domestic abuse cover-ups under the misapplied "Two-Witness" rule felt like another obfuscation cover-up attempt instead of Watchtower at least admitting and acknowledging the problem let alone apologizing to JW victims of child abuse.
Keep up the great work! I can better scatter seeds, plant and water!😂
    Thanks gentlemen!
Dave in Wisconsin, USA via Chicago

I was able to find the JW facts website which in turn interested me into looking for more information when I was fading away from the "Truth." I ended up on your tube page and enjoy your videos very much. I was raised in the religion. I'm a third generation witness. I appreciate everything you post. My sons who are now teenagers are still adapting to the "world." I think the knowledge and experience that you all are able to share with us is so helpful. Didn't realize how many people felt the same way I did about so many different issue. Thank you!!

JW Survey and JW Facts were instrumental in my waking up. I was done with religion and god, so I wanted something that didn’t have a religious slant. These websites are perfect for that.

I appreciate both of your styles with just presenting the facts. When I was first was working up the courage to view apostate material, the first ones I encountered had an aggressive and almost creepy vibe (exactly how you imagine apostates to be as an active witness) with alot of talk about how they'd been wronged while completely bypassing important facts. I took a break for a smidge because they were so unhelpful. Then suddenly one of your videos popped up in my TH-cam feed, someone calm and reasonable with a normal person vibe just presenting the facts. And it's your videos Lloyd that have changed my life and saved my two children from being raised in this cult. I've said it before but I don't think I can say it enough, thank you! And thank you to Paul for all the hard work you put into your site that helped Lloyd. It's a beautiful sort of pay it forward cycle ♥️🙌👌

If I had initially stumbled onto one of those channels I would have been completely turned off and probably not continue researching.

Great video, thanks paul ,and cedars my grandson and his 4 witness friends, all raised in the religion, left almost at the same time and all went to higher education and now are 25 and have good jobs and said they never really believed it ,in thr first place so I think these generations of the future have the internet and there will be less young ones staying in falling for the b.s. I myself began to question things myself about 5yrs ago after being in it for 60yrs and I agree with paul ,that these are just imperfect men and are no better or worse than anyone else, jesus did warn us in the scriptures not to believe any man because of there imperfection, and also to always chack things out to see if they are true or not ,so with the help from people like you both and others we are helping people to research and wake up ,good job from you both ,keep it up ,your helping more and more ,thank you both for your hard work ,

I left for good ten years ago at 16yrs old. Went through rebuilding my life, went off the deep end and became as "worldly" as you could be (use your imagination) and now coming back to a balanced, healthy life. I always wanted to do what these two men are doing, and I am so happy to see this type of material gaining ground. It's logical, ethical, rational and not brash or filled with anger, as other anti-religion channels are. I just found your channel and really appreciate what you're doing.

My parents were agnostic and atheist . The pros for me: I REALLY learned the bible. I learned to be less materialistic. The cons: If ell I had very little life, everything was meetings, studies, and service. Could not feel right telling someone that if they were not with "us" they were going to hell. It thought that decision was up to God! I left!

a couple of verse I use to stop them is when God say in deut 18:22 if it does not come true I DID NOT SENT THEM that says God says you are not Gods org according to Jehovah. then I use 6 articles in WT publications (provided by WT examination) where the GB says but WE THOUGHT and it didn't happen then I say in 2 peter 1:20 no private interpretation IS NOT FROM GODthey always still say well they STILL BELIVEE that God is using the GB after all the proof. even were it say they will put light for darkness and darkness for light. it seems like God was warning them about us directly. old light is darkness and so is new lightor light gets brighter and brighter. I start off by asking them if there is any untruth in God's word the answer is always no.but then you tell about falsehood and their reasoning is still stuck on mind control. just saying

Thank you both for all your hard work. Can’t thank you enough for all of the help I found in both of your websites when I was exiting. Just wanted to corroborate the story about Fred Franz and and his preference for blonds. We don’t live too far from Bethel and had heard many different stories about how much he liked the girls. I’ll tell you something that actually happened to me. Of course, this was almost forty years ago and in those days I was a ‘pretty blond’. He was visiting our hall to give a talk and everyone was gathered all around him-fawning all over him. I decided that I didn’t want to get in the middle of that, thought it was a little too much. So I went over to the other side of the hall, sat down, and was looking at a book. Suddenly I hear this voice above me say, ‘Hello. I’m Brother Franz. Just wanted to introduce myself.”! Somehow he was able to extricate himself from this large crowd and make his was over to me! I was really surprised! He was losing his eyesight by then but still had enough of it to see me sitting over there. To be fair, he could have just been being nice and I don’t want to misjudge. But it does ‘give one reason for pause’, as they say! :-)
Anyway, great interview and thanks again!

This is a fantastic video. I always think that ex elders and ex bethelites speaking out has tremendous weight because you had the inside view and info. I loved the point you made at the end about how many will be spared the suffering because their parents or grandparents got out. It was actually becoming a mother in 1991 that started my journey out of the borg, I couldn't face putting my daughter through life as a jw. She's grown up now and is an amazing, accomplished, kind person. Perhaps that is something you could analyse in a video? Just how the jw cult programming is so insidious that it persuades mothers and fathers to cut off their own children. Keep up the good work!! Thank you so much.

The section about the diversity of exJWs was particular interesting.
I think the sad fact is some when they leave don't really settle into real life and are lonely and angry so come across that way in their videos etc. Maybe a video that appeals to them would be helpful - "Dont be angry, enjoy life, don't prove witnesses right, be an advocate of freedom from the oppression of GB" etc 😊

I agree: served at Bethel for 5 yrs right after college. Looking back, my boss now has more personal interest in me that the 'bosses'at Bethel. You were self conscious of asking time off for a dentist appointment. Besides I never liked the idea that a Bethel you are told the job you need to do, if this is not your vocation, i.e. Cleaning...tough. I certainly do not encourage young ones to go there. Too dangerous and a risk to lose your faith. Thankfully I am still a believer.

I remember Christmas and birthdays for my cousins and how sad they were about not celebrating anything. They were quite poor and we only wanted to help. My mom would sometimes take groceries. Weirdly at the same time, my cousin had been married once and thereafter had 4 kids by different dads, some in the church and I couldn't figure out why she didn't want to look more carefully at what they believed. I'm learning a lot on here and not in a judgmental way but to understand and maybe help someone. (probably not possible having not been in their shoes.)

Life is all about change and you make people think and wake up by own thinking! In chemistry you often call it "catalyst " as well. It's the opposite to indoctrination. (a comment from the side line by someone who have never been a JW or ExJW, , so just an observer)

Question - Paul mentions that when he returned from holiday and admitted to the elders several things he had done, that they announced from the platform that he had done ‘certain things’ but ‘was sorry for what he did’, and then afterwards the friends came up and were crying and hugging him- was this how they did public reproof years ago? I’m asking because in the decades of my being JW, I’ve never seen a public reproof where anything is said other than “so-and-so has been reproved” - for someone just starting to question their beliefs, this may cause them to question the credibility of what’s being said. Thanks for clarifying, Lloyd.

You would have to ask Paul. I would only offer the observation that, even when the rules and guidelines are crystal clear, not all elders can be guaranteed to follow them to the letter. Regardless of what the precise rules were at the time of the reproof, it's perfectly conceivable to me that the announcement was as Paul recollected.

Is there a good video where you can find an explanation to all these terms? I tried google but am totally lost!

That's a good suggestion. Can you give me some idea of which terms are problematic? I will certainly give it some thought. :)

John Cedars just the JW terms like bethilites, apostates etc.. I think I’m slowly learning! So bethilites are JWs who live in a place called Bethel? And apostates are people who have left? I came over from seeing you on Chris Shelton’s channel and like Scientology this really intrigues me especially as here in the UK JWs are quite known here xxx

I totally understand. I think I will do a beginner's guide to JWs at some point soon, explaining as much of this sort of thing as possible. Thanks so much for the suggestion. :)

Question: for want of a better term do you or other ex JWs consider traditional Christian churches (regardless of denomination) viable options for faith.

This is amazing! I am barely waking up from this religion. I am young 22 years old and I got my 3 friends out of it as well. I am glad I am waking up now that I am young. Thank you so much John Ceader and Paul for all this information. We need to keep convincing people from the religion to wake up and face the child abuse problem they have! Thank you so Much again!! I am just confused because in a way I believe certain things but I know this isn’t the true religion. Is that normal? I just need some help! Thanks again

Clubamerica217 Hi! I'm in a similar situation. I'm 20 years old and woke up a year ago. What you are feeling is completely normal and it's just part of the process of breaking free from this religion. So don't worry! I strongly recomend you to read Crisis of Concience and In Seacrh of Christian Freedom both books written by Raymon Franz, a former Governing Body member. The first one is about how Ray started to see that lots of things were not right in the Watchtower Society and describes the way in which he was witchhunted because he disagreed with some teachings and procedures until he was disfellowshiped. The second one provides a healthier view of Christianity, that is, a kind of Christianity which is not attached to any particular denomination or sect but only based in genuine love and faith in God and his Christ. This book may help you to understand the reason why it is not necessary to be part of organized religion in order to be a true Christian. Of course, there is also the possibility to go deeper and analize the existence of God itself. No matter what path you choose to follow, remember that you have the absolute right and freedom to believe what you consider to be the correct idea. As long as it helps you to be a loving, kind and moral person, you will be okay. Finally, even though you may feel lost or in pain, try to enjoy the opportunity life has given you think by yourself, choose what you really want to believe and reach true freedom.

I think most know Pioneering means ,or did mean 100 hours of service or witnessing(door to door preaching or other types of witnessing bible studies etc) to others in a month, around the 1990's it was lowered to 90 hrs a month. only a few can do that and have a normal work schedule . then there is Auxiliary pioneering which is 60 hrs a month. anyone who does that is look up to as very exemplary in the congregation.

many people that were willing to talk to me seems to me say it is the best religion out there. I have spoke to a number of my friends and they all seems to know its false but it is the friends they are afraid of losing. since witnesses only hang with witnesses you would be all alone IN THE WORLD as they see it
