    Hey Jessie, that looks gorgeous for its simplicity! Great project but I just want to make a suggestion and that is that you drill a few holes on the plywood base for ventilation and humidity escape. I had a problem related to that very recently and realized that it is very important to have air flow underneath the mattress, otherwise you will get sort of fungus and stuff... Anyway, always love to see what you guys are up to! See you around :D Cris

      Was just coming down to the comments to say the same thing. This is why most bed designs include slats, it's super important that the mattress can breathe. Aside from that, this is a fantastic minimalist design!

    • @Chantwizzle
      @Chantwizzle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FortYort same. It would be so easy to get a router and but some slats in on a diagonal so you couldn't feel them from on top of the mattress.

    Hi Jessie, great to see you take the center stage. You're charming and the project is perfect. I look forward to more of these inspiring videos, very glad to have another female maker figure to watch with my 4yr old daughter (and 4 yr old boy too for that matter) and have them be clear that females can build anything they want with confidence !
    Keep on trucking ! (from France)

    That's a nice modern looking bed. I even have four of those brackets I don't use anymore.
    I'm just a bit too OCD and I can't stand the brackets for the head rest and the brackets for the feet (under the head rest) are not properly aligned.
    Also, I think you need some ventilation holes in the bed plate. I'm no expert, but I think you need to let humidity (from sweating while sleeping) get out from the bottom of the bed.

    • @pikachuiswatchingyou
      @pikachuiswatchingyou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah you can definitely reverse the shelf bracket and match the same length together.

    • @Samtagri

      Smiley Cool you can just make a grid of holes in the wood and it will be fine.

    • @rainbowdashreal9733
      @rainbowdashreal9733 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you need ventilation. You could just take a 3" diameter drill tip and do a hole here and there.

  • @n8guy
    @n8guy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like it! In my opinion, the design could be improved by flipping the headboard/pillow support brackets vertically, so that those brackets would line up really well with the brackets immediately below them. As-is, they look awkward to me. But hey, different strokes - either way, great project!

    • @TheDavemaster300
      @TheDavemaster300 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      ConcreteLand it's actually a little funny that you said that, cause I weigh 180 lb's alone. And most of the women I prefer to date weigh more than me, because I love my women plus size. So I'd say ballpark about 200 lb's to my 180 lb's would bring our collective weight to about 380 to 385. And not to brag but I go "HAM" in the sack LOL, so that bed probably would last two month with me LOL

    It's a reasonable design for temporary but there are a few things that would make it stronger, more comfortable and improve the life of the mattress. Yes it would require a little more time and skill but it would be worth it as the basic idea is very good

    In this Bed you can lie all flat or you can lie on the slightly lifted platform wich is a wonderful idea. BUT it is better to have a slatted frame. Circulation of air is very important so the matress won't get mold. You also can lift up your matress to make sure it gets enough air circulation but my experience shows that most of the people won't do that.

    But bed need airing because during the nights our body sweat and the mat will go mouldy.
