Tupig from Pangasinan | Glutinous Rice Flour With Coconut Strips | Pan and Oven Baked Method

- Tupig from Pangasinan is a sweet native delicacy of Ilocanos made with glutinous rice flour, dark brown sugar, coconut milk and coconut strips. It is wrapped in banana leaves and baked directly on pan or oven. The traditional cooking method of cooking this dish is by grilling them over charcoals to achieve that trademark smoky and charred flavor. However, you can still cook them in the comfort of your own home and achieved the same yummy result. This kakanin is particularly sold during Christmas season. Share it with your family and friends!
INGREDIENTS
1 kilo glutinous rice flour
2 cups dark brown sugar
4-5 cups coconut milk
2 cups coconut strips or macapuno
banana leaves for wrapping, cleaned
1-2 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)
cooking oil for greasing
