Holiday Celebration at The Ritz! Singapore's Best Festive Lobster & Seafood Luxury Buffet

- As Christmas and the Holidays approaches, the streets of Singapore are all decorated for the festivities and beautifully lit up. Kinda like the Vegas strip but in a classy subtle way. And like Vegas, the buffets in Singapore continues to get better and better and today, I get to visit what I believe is Singapores Best Buffet, or at least the most luxurious.
This is at a restaurant called The Colony at the Singapore Ritz-Carlton and this is going to be a lavious treat. I've heard they have spectacular offering of lobster, seafood, truffles and many of the wester and traditional Singaporean dishes; but above it all, The Ritz-Carlton is known for their superb hospitality so it will definitely be a great evening to remember.
As luck would have it, during the evening when I was dining, they had a tree lighting ceremony to kick off the festive season and cocktails all around. A nice diversion from the buffet, but it was quickly back to business. As nice as the cold seafood station was, taking a walk further into the buffet area, you'll find chefs hard at work grilling up loads of buttery lobsters, creating fresh Indian breads and curries and of course the meats from the tandoor. This is the first time I've tried a tandoori lobster but it certainly wouldn't be my last.
Turn the corner and you'll find yourself at Italian station where chef Justin was making mushroom truffle risotto mounted with countless knobs of butter, gratings for parmesian, and endless shavings of fresh truffles.. Venture a little further to the right, you'll find chefs grilling up plates and plates of lobsters to please the patrons and further down, of course there are the Singapore delicacies such and the BBQ roast pork and duck, the famous Hinan chicken and of courese, the laksa made fresh to order.
If you're ever in Singapore this would be highly recommend.. Well above and beyond he bar set by it's Vegas counterparts, and.a very enjoyable evening. Just make sure to get reservations early as there is a bit of a waiting list.

I can't get over how you find so many of these unbelievable buffets!!! I have never seen tandoori lobster before and I was so impressed they made the risotto for you fresh on the spot! The sashimi and sushi looked so high quality and amazing and even the salad bar looked super impressive (I love mushrooms). And those desserts - wow - so premium and elegant (a tower of truffles and the gula melaka cake looked great). Gingerbread in the form of a parafait is so cool. I like how it is not a timed buffet and the interior decor of the restaurant was really beautiful. I would definitely get on an airplane JUST for this. Thanks for sharing this with us as always.
Thank you so much and after a bit of reflection, I was really impressed with the quality of everything at this buffet. Everything was done so well and nothing was dry. Would highly recommend it, although it is very pricey 😉

The whole buffet was amazing. Though my favorite course was the entrées. Truffle Risotto, Tomahawk Steak and Lobster... now that's the perfect bite 😋

I’m just like you Tim….I sweat like a pig! I’ll never forget how bad it was in Sri Lanka 10 years ago. Like a sauna! BTW….brilliant to use lobster bisque as a dipping sauce. Great work and great editing!!!!🎉
lobster bisque is delicious! but must be done right. shrimp bisque is almost as good

It would be nice to know the origin of the seafood . Sea perch is usually Freshwater Tilapia. Which eats Mosquito larvae.
Very good to see you enjoying your time again. I’m not a seafood person at all, in my refrigerator only salmon and trout but it’s very interesting how you dealing with those hard shells and another kind of seafood!

Tim, everything the Ritz Carlton does is spectacular. This buffet does not disappoint. You hit the high notes, lobster and light/heavy mashed potatoes. The roast beef soft as butter! I’m sorry that you were a bit soft due to heat/humidity but that inconvenience led to an incredible buffet.
They really do quite an amazing job don't they? I could not find any fault with any of their dishes and the luxurious items were certainly top-notch... Well worth suffering through the humidity 😉

Tim, The food all looked so very fine. The risotto w truffles ahhh. The morel sauce over beef and whipped potatoes looked delicious. I stayed through dessert. Best
That was probably the best risotto I've had, with all the butter and Parmesan and truffles. I think one of the chefs told Justin to hold off as he was shaving the truffles on the plate 😆
You're such a creature of habit with your lobster bisque as an accompaniment rather than put soup, if it's not broken lovely. Don't fix it. 😂 another cracking video Tim ❤😊

The duck was awesome and I don't think I did Justice to that chicken. Definitely one of the best chickens I've had, so flavorful and I wanted to ask them for the recipe

Good video. Unfortunately, Colony standard has actually been on a decline. It has seen better days. I miss their legendary annual Super Brunch. The scale and offerings will just make your jaws drop. Will try to put up a video montage of it one day
Seems these buffets keep getting better and better. Worth going to Singapore, despite the weather. Funny line about being glad they were not serving mulled wine at the tree lighting ceremony. I would rather have mulled wine than eggnog.

It's alqays possible to walk from an MRY station to any surrounding building without being in rhe outdoors, or along the street.
For one of the most densely populated countries in the world, you would find the streets relatively quiet and uncrowded.

Thanks for sharing - i really love to cook and with your videos i always get some inspirations about things i could prepare for my family and friends. i am just writing my shopping list: today i have salmon und sourcream and blinis and caviar on it. ispired by your salmonrole - unfortunatly here in Austria it is more ore less impossible to get real nice and tasty seafood and fish. I always eat this in Norway, Portugal, Spain or Italy. Thank you for all your efforts doing all this videos an spending your spare time working on your content.... by the way: christmas starts quiete early in Singapore ☺ - take care and enjoy!!!
I love the granola at the Ritz. But it seems most buffets have stand fair, with a few local items.
I have not had granola at the Ritz-Carlton before. It's funny because it's probably not the first thing I would be choosing, but after this, the next time I go I'll definitely seek out the granola 🙂

You walked in from the front drive. Quite a climb. You should have walked in from the backdoor from millenia walk after alighting from Promenade mrt station.

Did you have to stay there in order to access the buffet ? Or can you just walk in and pay for the buffet . That Hotel is expensive almost $700 a stay for one day
I couldn't afford to stay at the hotel, just barely afford to eat there... I made the reservation over a month in advance, and even then it was hard to get a table
This looks fantastic value for money. I just have no idea how you can possibly eat so much. I maybe get 2 or 3 plates with a couple of different things, basically starter, main, and dessert and I'm always so full. There must be a secret to being able to eat more, I'd like to know what it is.
It just takes a bit of practice… Seriously, I do way over eat at these buffets, and always try to take a little bit of everything to show the food. But it does take a bit of of recovery afterwards.

The weekend buffet dinner is usually fully booked out months in advance. You must have some one set aside a table for you.
It's certainly booked well in advance. I made the reservation a month ahead and even then it took some time to get a table.
Are you traveling one person ?
As many of this places avoiding seating one person.
I try to reserve 2 ppl on French buffet and almost impossible while there is plenty availability for table of 4.
I travel either by myself and meet some friends at the destination, or travel in very small groups, maybe just two or three. Although it might not seem like it, travel is limited to the vacation time available. I hope you get to try the French buffet, I really enjoyed it and it was definitely well worth the journey 🙂

From all the buffets, I’ve tried so far, they were really close, but I think this just nudged it over the top. I didn’t try some of the smaller buffets, which would’ve been awesome I suspect. Just not enough time.
The Ritz food is good overall, just that the seafood section is really crampy, oysters run out by the first half of the buffet timing, lack of space around the buffet sections. Hot food also crowded. I wish they implemented an order system where the waiter serve the food to you especially at the noodle station.
You do get a bit cozy with your fellow diners. I have noticed that as well as it was shoulder to shoulder at the seafood station
This buffets price is reasonable and the service looks good. Does the alcohol drinks included?
The alcoholic drinks were separate however, during that occasion, when they had the tree lighting ceremony, they had complementary drinks in the form of holiday sangria

I love the Chinese style stirred fried lobsters more than the butter lobsters.
