5-Minute Logic Expert: Part 23 of 30
If your vocals sound harsh with anytime you sing sibilant frequencies like S's, the De-Esser is the tool you need!

Appreciating how quickly you get to the heart of the matter. (Yes, your 5 minute approach is what drew me in!)
My favorite use of the De-Esser: Take harsh high-hat bleeds out of snare tracks. Really helpful for tunes that have a lot of open hi-hat. Noise gates can only get ya so far when the hat is ringing through the snare hits. De-esser helps refocus the frequency range on the snare without taking out the snap out of the snare sound.
Very Well Explained and yes, De-Esser is a funny name.
Thanks for posting these 5 minute nuggets. I find them very informative, concise and efficient. Much appreciated!👍✌
I've never been able to hear a difference with Logic's De-essers .. I resort to cutting the 5 k frequency and I don't even know it that's right ... When I focus on the problem I hear it more... usually I'll just stop thinking about it and it cures it. 😂
Wish I had you back in 1986 as tutor at the SABC...
What a difference 35 years make.
cool song
Thanks for this
Nice tune/vocal, Colin. A new direction?
New to DeEssing... Did you put the DeEsser at the beginning of the chain before EQ or compression? Thanks for the video!
That track sounds a lot like Morcheeba
