    If only you could put the heart and soul of Dustin Pedroia in every player in professional sports. He played the game the right way. He always busted his ass, whether is was a diving stop or a ground out to the pitcher, Pedroia never stopped hustling. He gave everything he had. I don’t think we’ll ever see another player his size as good as he was.

    Dustin Pedroia was my favorite player as a kid. I played 2B and I'm short, so he proved to me it was possible. I was also obsessed with the Red Sox. Great video! Prime Pedey was special.

      @unkledoda420 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garygood6804what requirements? He had the 10+ years of service time required. He racked up just over 50 WAR in 14 seasons. That absolutely puts him as a borderline HoF candidate for the committee to consider.

    • @nomorefielders
      @nomorefielders  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I’m going to be a bitter fan here and say he had a fighting chance to be inducted had he not been taken out by Manny Machado with that ugly slide in 2018. He was slowing down a bit sure, but he definitely had enough in him to pad some of those stats and put himself up there in the 55+ WAR range.

    • @SconnerStudios
      @SconnerStudios ปีที่แล้ว

      @nomorefielders Luckily, Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, and Theo Epstein all will likely be on one of the "era" committees that he could fall onto, along with Francona if he can stay alive for another 20-25 years for it to happen. He just needs that 5% in his first year so he has the credibility, and I'm fairly confident he can get that 5%. Maybe even 10% if the Hall elects a large number of people next year and Chase Utley gets a high first year percentage.
      Likeability plays a large role in electing players and having an advocate fighting for you, something David Ortiz is very, very likely to be. And I agree, he never was going to be a first-ballot player, but if it weren't for that Manny Machado slide, I bet he has close to 60 WAR and maybe gets one more gold glove and mayyyybe even an all star nod in his final year. At the very least, we all could have given him the send-off he deserved like David Ortiz or Mariano Rivera got.

    Bro when you do the postseason series, David Freese has to be first. Man had the greatest postseason run ever. He literally got a hit in every clutch situation presented to him except 1 (I believe Game 2 of the WS); the man hit like .575 in the entire playoffs); unreal.

  • @youraverageguy7842

    So I play baseball 9 (really fun btw) and I customize the characters to be just like baseball greats attributes and all so I have Joe Mauer at catcher, Trout at Center and keep an OG from the original lineup for all three general positions basically Position players, starters, and the bullpen. I couldn’t think of a great 2nd baseman that wasn’t before 1990 except Dustin bc he won an MVP and even still I think he was criminally underrated. I think if he didn’t have those nagging injuries he would’ve been a guaranteed HoFer but he fell short of 2000 hits so he probably will be written off for that unfortunately despite the 50 career bWAR.

      Managed to get 50+ WAR in really not even 10 full seasons. When he played, he was the best player on the field. Even looking back at the 2013 postseason, he really wasn't that far behind Ortiz's legendary stats, and the Sox probably wouldn't have won the ALCS against the Tigers without him.

      Bill Lee's still playing in his traveling globetrotter-esque team. I saw him at the Hall of Fame last year at Ortiz's induction. One of the coolest players I ever met. If you plan on seeing him, make sure you have some weed and/or shrooms (if you live in a legalized area) to give him. He'd probably laugh at it, but take them anyways "as a courtesy" lol.
      Many former MLB players are bitter, elitist, or have disdain for the fans, but Bill is one of the very few that every time I've seen him, is a genuinely happy dude.

    Watching Pedroia as a kid made me realize my standards for a second baseman were way too high.
    What's not shown in this video is why he won four Gold Gloves, among the most any 2B ever.
