As a teacher in the 1950s, I clothed and fed a number of children in rural poverty, ie. lacking food, appropriate or adequate clothing, a place to bathe and assistance with proper hygiene. I’d put them in my car and take them to my house . Today, if I tried this, I’d be arrested!
I had a teacher who fed me in in school and tried helping with my hair and clothes and shoes stained green from grass and smelled like gas. But my step dad got mad. He didn’t like people thinking he wouldn’t or couldn’t take care of his family. He made ok money but he drank it all. He could be. A real asshole.

Once Johnson sold the nation on the falsehood that poverty is an affliction rather than a choice, poverty became a permanent condition for many. That cockeyed baby broke my heart. My daughter was cockeyed and had crooked teeth, I had the resources to fix it. Now she’s a big girl in college and looks like a model. Making all those kids with nothing is scary
Being poor doesn’t mean you also have to be filthy- allowing your kids to walk around extremely dirty 🤦🏻♀️ you can clean your home and kids! And of course, they just keep getting pregnant and having kids!
WOW what a tragedy! Dad makes $75 a week and $35 of it goes to rent. Supplemental income comes at a price. Especially back then because there were so many ppl against it and trying to block it. They were real cruel back then. Especially in helping the needy. And most of those set backs were against the women. Left with the kids and Dad burn off as a player/loser. So they had horrendous programs that if a woman/family wanted government support she had to be fixed. Destroy her womb basically so kids won't come.. I feel sorry for the women who had to take that route. Even since then over the years they have been trying to implement that old strategy but have failed in most cases..GOOD! I get it! Don't make them if you can't support them but life shouldn't stop because of it.. because some are planned and some are not..and social reform back then geared more towards whites. Majority of Minorities couldn't find work anyway because of bigotry. So they were forced into poverty and had sex to ease the tension 😏. So babies came!! But it's not too different from then except for a few changes . poor is still poor!!

This eas fascunating to watch. Dad to know that many of these programs have been cut and many people do not want to invest in helping the poor. I was a kid when this was aired abd I can remember how concerned my middle class parents and their friends and society weee about poverty. ☮️
@@cd.cd.cd.cd-cd if white privilege is a reality then why do people have to pretend to be a minority to get into colleges? If white privilege is a reality then why do whites lose their jobs when disagreeing with a minority over a political viewpoint yet blacks can openly call for violence against whites with zero repercussions? If white privilege is a reality why do white men get picked last for government jobs under minority’s based solely on the color of their skin and not their achievements or merits? If white privilege is such a reality why do working class whites have to foot the bill for every other ethnic identity (accept Asians) to use public transportation, health care, social benefits.. everybody knows that whites and Asians put more into the systems then they use. White privilege is a myth.
Because they wouldn't be able to brainwash and distort to the past to a population who knows real history. They lie constantly about why things ended up where we are now, what really went on, and what sides did what. They were already telling partial stories back then to influence thinking or feeling a certain way. The easiest way to conquer and control a group is to divide them against each other because if they are their own enemies they don't realize you're actually their enemy. When governments do it it's called identity politics. It also made it possible for them to destroy communities and make them dependent on the system instead of independent as individuals which was done to sway voting and hold that group of people down along with policies that required a mother to be single to receive welfare and checked in to make sure no father was in the home. They also use to sterilize black mothers (until roe v. Wade) then they moved planned Parenthood to black communities and encouraged abortion as safe and then eventually free now. They allowed crime to spiral in the same areas for decades and over the years as communities ask for help they eventually started using identity politics and the same partial truth in the media to influence the community to fear and hate law enforcement further causing social and economic problems in that community. There so much in the past and even written into Kennedy's / Lyndon b. Civil rights act then following welfare programs that it was clear the legal procedures and requirements would destroy the African American communities and schools and in our government currently both parties are the same people same enemy all in it together paid by the same corporations. they control everything from division so that we don't focus on healthcare or any of our actual problems as a country. I was born and raised in Anniston Al where the freedom riders bus was burned. The town had paired up white and black churches and police depts. And it was adopted into 200 other cites as the Anniston model we had relative peace and integration through the next few years. Libraries hospital things like that. Then in 65 the klan was mad because our newspaper businesses radio station everything and everyone besides their group had gone on for years about the shock and devistation the bus burning had brought on the whole community and we had moved to integrate. They marched with their visitors from all over through Anniston one night and three men left from that event and rode by a car with two black men headed home from work they shot the driver Willie p. Brewster and he died. The town paper got on the phone and had citizens calling everyone they knew to ask would you put your name in the paper or donate some money towards demanding the shooters caught. The next day the front page ad was a 20,000 dollar reward and a list 285 prominent people demanding the guilty party be turned in because our town refused to be controlled by secret acts of violence or fear and we don't stand for abuse or violence towards an innocent person. Then the man was turned in. He was convicted by an all white jury in 1965. First time a white man was found guilty of murdering a black man . No one every hears that Anniston literally stood up to the kkk by name and 20,000 dollars and convicted a white man in 1965 of shooting a black man because we wouldn't stand for a small group of evil to control this community. We have plaques and memorials to everything that happened here it's beautiful to go look at it all commemorated. Unless you live here and sometimes even if you do you don't know anything besides Anniston is a hate filled evil town of racists right; but we literally said get out to the klan through legislation but the wins don't help to make people hate each other you know. When that happened here we found out the fbi was communicating with the klan the whole time and weren't going to turn them in or warn us they planned to burn churches for coming together across color lines. They actually told the kkk that if you give up the names for the rewards and the town hurts you the fbi isn't liable????!!!! So they just weren't going to tell the town they were talking to klans members who knew the killer. That was while Lyndon b. Johnson was pres. And Edgar Hoover was fbi director also while they were listening to everyone Martin Luther king was doing and talking about. trying to stop him and saying he was evil then warning cities of everything king talked about before he arrived. It's disgusting honestly it's also why Barry Goldwater wouldn't sign the civil rights act because he knew it was designed in a way that would ruin black schools and the community but they've always said it was because he didn't stand for civil right no Alabama voted for him to get rid of the wallace era. Because we wanted to not be legally segregated but we just wanted no Jim crow and no klan. The Dems wanted to force black schools to close basically and build projects oh it's so infuriating honestly to know this truth but it's so twisted that no one realizes even though all the evidence is out there. It's unbelievably disgusting thank God their finally moving people from projects into houses and tearing the projects down . Trump actually did that :. .....craziness but I don't care who did it I'm just glad things may be improving. The truth shall set you free🤯. That's why there's no history on tv or any full real history in school. Like that the republican party was created by black slaves and abolitionists standing for equality and freedom. The south started voting them in because the Dems were the people behind the kkk masks in our states literally. Then when we were fighting back people like George Wallace came to the historic black town next to Anniston (Hobson city) when he ran for president and talked to the black communities about desegregation and how racists these republicans were and how wonderful the Dems were knowing a few years earlier he was part of the klan and all for the evil crap we were fighting to stop. They proved themselves racist here by literally being the people terrorizing and killing to keep both sides afraid to fight back. Ironically now they do it through an tifa and "cancel culture" God it's insane the level of brainwashing and seeing what it's managed to make if the black communities that were strong before the Dems started all this and how right Goldwater was how extensively it's damaged the nation and beautiful smart amazing communities, families, and individuals absolutely breaks my heart and I have no clue what could be done besides spreading the truth and thank God hezakya is doing that this is a fantastic channel plus a bunch of classified info about the surveillance of mlk being declassified while trump was in office there's some real stuff in all that omg ..... Stuff the south has said forever that the fbi kkk and deep state killed jfk and mlk because they wanted equality and jfk because he wasn't going to shut schools and do anything in force to so greatly effect communities or make them dependent on a system but give them opportunity. It's so sad
Perfect song for this video. I can’t understand why poor people are so dirty and lazy!! Just because you’re living in poverty- doesn’t mean you have to be dirty as well as your kids!! Keep your place clean, kids clean, showered, hair brushed- no backwards, dirty dress, just filthy- I didn’t grow up with lots of money, but my mom made us clean, do chores, etc- being unfortunate is no excuse to live in filth! You have running water- keep your kids bathed!!
That’s right. You can’t understand- so stop judging. On the show hoarders, most of those people are NOT in poverty. The problem is poor mental health. Some middle class and rich people have filthy homes. Stop thinking you’re superior- cuz you’re not.

IS A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING?
Tragic 😢

AT 8:14 MIN THEY MAKE THAT MUCH A WEEK THAT IS IN THE 60'S IN MEXICO YOU MAKE 66 DOLLARS A WEEK FROM SUN UP TO SUN DOWN AND YOU STILL OWE HIM A FAVOR AND 66 BUCKS THEY GET PAID IS TODAY 2021

This just gets absolutely ridiculous toward the end. I am listening to people complain, because free money is not being given to them easily enough.
THIS...is why people no longer want to help.

In crisis... Not crises.
People were better back then.
This eas fascunating to watch. Dad to know that many of these programs have been cut and many people do not want to invest in helping the poor. I was a kid when this was aired abd I can remember how concerned my middle class parents and their friends and society weee about poverty. ☮️
Stop having kids if you are in poverty.

But.... but.... white privilege.....
But but Black people take all the welfare....

The fact that some whites are poor doesn't negate the reality of white privilege, genius
This guy is trying to deny the existence white privilege in 1966..1966.....bruh
I wonder why there are no network produced series like this anymore?
Possibly because they're depressed
@@freethinkinmelanin6795exactly, it’s the weight of hopelessness on them. Without hope people don’t persevere.
They might not have had running water...I suspect there is other issues in that first family though. Mental illness, substance abuse, DV etc
I associate the conditions of a persons living place with their mental state
That’s right. You can’t understand- so stop judging. On the show hoarders, most of those people are NOT in poverty. The problem is poor mental health. Some middle class and rich people have filthy homes. Stop thinking you’re superior- cuz you’re not.
