Speaking of brrt they recently changed the rounds for the gsh-23 to a realistic HEI instead of the crappy FI-T from the NS-23s.

@@kiryu5499 it is much, much better. The days of constantly sparking or leaving minimal damage are over. They still need to be led a lot because the rounds have a low velocity, but damn they hit hard now and almost always set fires.

@@collander7766 hisparkos dont spark nearly as much now, they act almost like mg151s and just tear apart anything now, you do get the occasional spark still because of practice rounds tho

I experimented with the airfield aa in the swift f7, intentionally snapped one wing off to get kill message and then proceeded to fly over enemy airfield without getting killed. Great way to kill people who camp the airfield :)
They’ve already changed Airfield AA to attack Dead but not J’ed aircraft 🤣

Something you may be interested in. At one point you fire a missile on an F8U-2 and mention it has no flares but in the update it was given them so you may want to check it out again. That or the F-8E which is the same as the F8U-2 but with AIM-9Cs

In real life the AA esque custom guns of this plane were so strong that shake all of the airframe roughly even knock off some instrument panels
They also shattered landing lights to the point where removal of landing lights during gun exercises was written into the manual

Seeker head made a video on strafing people with SAM cover. You should watch it, its actually more consistent to strafe now than how it was before, if you do it right it the SAM will never hit.

Can you do a video with R13ms? They seem very underrated and have preformed alot like Aim9js when I used and didn’t get tricked by flares as much as the r60s

Having 3 phantoms, two with 9js, I much prefer the r13s to the r60ms on the mig27, even though you only get two. The r13s perform almost identically to aim-9Js, and can launch on targets far enough away that they won't be expecting a missile any second, and can pretty reliably track through flares, unlike r60s

MiG-27 ISNT lighter than MiG-23M AT ALL. It has a much heavier gun and ammunition, reinforced airframe, more armor and while it lacks radar it has ground attack related electronics. It is in fact has 600 kg more dry mass than MiG-23M and around 1t more normal take-off weight
I will admit, players seem to be able to evade r-60ms easier in your video then I can. Basically everytime I fly the f-5 Tiger, if I head on a Mig-27, chances are that Ill die to him. No mater how many flares I dispense, the missile nearly never cares about it and completely destroys me. And Im almost stock, which doesn't help.
Turn off afterburner
Spamming flares is a really bad idea. It just creates a nice hot trail straight back to your engines, IR missiles will love that, especially R-60's with their high FOV seeker.

@@UncleSlimJimmy not radar guided, most it can be is IRST or radar designated. Flares still work great about it - you gotta either pull hard and fast, or flare into the missle so the flare is right in its path.
Missile spooling is just something that Gaijin made up IRL it just does not exist
iirc you have to wait some time to cook the seeker head before launching but the missile could be kept cool for a long time
@@Spitflyer well this was usually done during the start up procedure or on the ground. The idea that you have to wait like 5-10 seconds each time you want to fire a missile and the fact that it just turns off your missile some time is just Gaijin BS. DCS gets it right.

yes turning off your afterburner while defending against a IR missile makes a whole world of difference. I find myself surviving tons of missiles.

I always take 20 minutes fuel and just dont use afterburner on takeoff and going into battle. It works wonders.

One question about the AAA turning off after a set time. Does that timer reset if an aircraft takes off and another lands or is it, the team has "5 minutes" for airfeild time. After that the AAA "runs out of ammo", never to shoot again?
I really wouldn't trust that bullshit....especially if you have a MiG-27 just go equip the smart bombs and they can sit on the runway all they want

In my opinion, this is overpowered. Especially that these have a lot of flares now they shouldn't be the only aircraft with all aspect ir missiles and most definitely not when fighting aircraft that don't have flares

Its the first all aspect ir missle. Other nations get all aspect radar missiles which perform at longer ranges.
I don't know if it's just me or this plane but I've been flying bombers for most of my time in warthunder. So I have next to no experience when it comes to fighters, yet I will get 3-4 kills in a match consistently. And the only reason why I don't have more is because I run out of missiles and the enemy team disintegrates. I do wonder though, the Mig-23M (which I don't have) looks to be exactly the same as the Mig-27M but with more missiles and a radar. I wonder how well I could do in that plane.
Its the players, majority of players are morons, with zero awareness and one kill mentality.
So anyone with at least 2.5 brain cells can wreck a good amount with missiles

IRL the MiG 27M had less performance because it had 2000kgf less of thrust ( 10500kgf ), while the MiG 23M had 12500kgf.
But in the game the MiG 23 is underperforming in thrust ( 10500kgf in the game ) making the performance difference basically insignificant.
The same tactics should apply as spit used in this video for sure. The 23M's GSh-23 isn't as good as the Mig-27's 30mm, but you get two extra missiles.
The only thing bad about the MiG-23 is the lack of flares, but it has a pretty decent Radar and R-23R's are underrated.

The Aim-9L is far superior to the R-60M, is common to think that R-60M is a Aim-9Ls counterpart but they arent at all

Do you think the MiG 23 or MiG 21 stockgrind is easy?, Or Mirages stockgrind? No, its hard as fuck, specially on MiGs.
MiGs have arguably the worst stockgrind in the game for 3 reasons:
-They have what is easily the worst gun in top tier ( Gsh-23L )
-Very low ammo ( less than 250 rounds )
-Their stock missile is worse than the Aim-9B, some months ago the R-3Ss got nerfed and now have HALF the trackrate of the Aim-9B, you think the Aim-9B doesnt track?, Oh boy you should see the R-3.

Mig 27 is younger than f14 and its a strike aircraft or bomber or what ever but f14 is a fighter so it wont mess up the ground battles happening beneath it and its older why no f14 gainin????
In air battles the F-14 is faster than every jet in the game currently while also being capable of low speed dogfights. It also has superior radar, flare capacity and AIM-54s which have significantly larger maximum range and top speed.
It would quite literally be 12.0 worthy in the current meta and would wipe the floor with any plane up to the MiG-29 and would still be a formidable opponent to the MiG-29 and Su-27. Crazy how advanced it was

Love the gameplay, but I feel like you're over analysing your games a lot. (Like the literature ppl over analyse texts from famous writers). It seems a lot like you're improvising the commentary part and just saying stuff to fill in the blanks. Hopefully you can see this as a critique and not just a hate comment. But otherwise, nice to see gameplay for aircrafts you don't have/don't want to grind for.
I really hate the state of the game. They are mostly focused on adding new vehicles at top or around top tier. But the grind in this game is so bad. I have been stuck in the same spot on multiple trees just cause of the slow XP grind and the slow credit grind.
Giving 4x R60M on MiG-23/27 ; ok
Giving 2x Magic II on F8E-FN ; hell no !

@@tacocat0674 that's is in real fife and applies for the mig 23 and 27. Normally the mig 27/23 in real life they carry the 72. Few times the 12 have been use in real life. In the game I think that are only 72 for the 27 and 12 for the 23

Russian Guns were kinda iffy for a long time but the recent patch fixed it.
The machine guns on the early props are lasers of doom, just load incendiary tracer in a Chaika and go ham
Berezins are the best .50 cals in game, just a single one on most fighters is as powerful as 6 .50 cals on the P-51.
Shvaks have been shit for a good while but got recently fixed and are amazing now.
NS-23's and NS-37's hit like a damn bus but are hard to aim.
NR-30's are the best Jet cannons tied with M61
Gsh-23 hits hard after buff but still lacks velocity making it hard to aim.
Mig 27 m is the Russian A10 warthog nock-off
