Awsome video, you did your homework and put more time into it then when Top Gear did it at Leguna Sega. Been a fan of GT since it first came out, yes i'm that old. Wish it had a Fiero in the game but does have a Miata. Wife just got me GT7 for Christmas, looking forward to playing.
@@rx8matt I have always been GT fan and thought Forza was too arcade, but went back to forza on 6 and 7 and love that there are more real tracks and with damage and AI make you earn the wins. The rivals on forza lets you compete agianst other people without the online drama. GT got a little too easy at times. I'll see how GT7 is.
@@keithgerhard454 GT has been really annoying from the perspective that many races start with the cars all spread out over like 20 seconds at the start. then it's like you're just dodging one obstacle at a time. GT7 suffers this a bit as well, although as you progress in the game some of the competition gets closer and tighter. the rallycross and 10-lap endurance races have been pretty close for me (
@@rx8matt thats funny because forza your all grouped at together at start so sometimes you can make up multiple spots on first turn or damage your car so bad you have to reset.
I guess there's always factors not replicated in video games to take into consideration. Such factors as head wind, inconsistent engine performance depending on ambient temperature, how temp, flexibility, speed of heat loss and gain of temperature, oil temperature, etc.
I did the same thing at laguna seca, my method for this was to make the car handle as fast as it could handle so I could drive it on the edge on GT7 and then reduced power and tq numbers so it would give me the same gear position at each segment on real life data and video. Matched up really good, but I had to drive the rx8 with 178hp on the game for it to match my real life lap times.
We should share settings. My white car was strong and I only had to knock power down a little but my blue car would definitely need more power restriction. Is your laguna Seca video posted in your profile?
I did on my actual channel, but I mixed it up a little differently because I just drove too fast on GT, and I know what the problem actually is ON GT7, I simply don't fear it going wrong. Just adding good foam to the sides of the radiator and sealing holes in undertray helps a lot - forces air thru and doesn't let it go around. 70% water 30% glycol mix. AEM intake re-routed behind bumper cover. Underdrive water pump pulley.
Nice work on laying out the two runs and the comparisons of each. My guess for the delta on the climbing, right hander on camber curve that your real car achieved - the computer modeling doesn't do a good job (or is it even factored into) the lateral grip increase potential over the computer programing in the game? Similar to your plausible reason the computer model "outran" your real car was due to a possible head wind? Fun to watch it. You might have a copyright infringement with your street RX-8 parked on that driveway ......... LoL
