Vast Aire is really talented Idk why people hate on his style, he has some amazing thoughts and ideas and his sense for a beat is one of a kind he has a very vivid mind. Of course Aesop Rock is like an unchained beat chewing badger but I like the songs they do together b/c they are different in their approach and style.
Cold Vein is untouchable. Vast had so much built up rep built off that one project - even though he wasn't always 100% on it - he was perfect for that album. Vordul takes a slight backseat to VA's bold and direct style, though shouldn't be seen as overlooked cuz they both brought their A++++ game to it. Even as El-P expanded, evolved, and transformed while remaining true; those two guys never got close to that brilliance again. It's akin to a great director bringing the best out from actors. Vast in particular turned out to be a disappointment. The more features and projects he did, the more shallow he came out to be. His deep rhetoric devolved to either too convoluted or overly simplistic. Wisdom without depth sounds like corny advice, and he treats those ideas as some new discovery when it's just common sense. I really kept my ears open for the goods but was mostly let down incrementally with each batch of his releases. Blade of the Ronin sealed it for me. It finally answered why Cold Vein was ultimately the masterpiece it is; especially important when factoring the greatness of Run The Jewels. Vast Aire is fine. He has classics! He's just not as good as his peers nor as good as he seemed to carry himself. I get the hate but I don't revel in it nor can I truly defend it. Just go to Illogic`s song "Time Capsule" from Celestial Clockwork. It kinda is a good example of how good he can be as an individual emcee yet ultimately displays his limitations when along others performing at a high level relative to that era.
If only we can get Wu Tang and maybe rakim or dmx all just go off the dome to the most incredible instrumentals we can come up with. Maybe whole bunch of other rappers too. Maybe make it an open forum. And all who may wish to share, may do so freely. But I know this. It would be good. So good. Respect. Fear nothing. No one. Ever. Not even death. Except for the possibility of you not achieving your goals. Whatever they may be, even if you don't know them. Even if it doesn't make any real sense. You're all here for a reason. I know you can feel it inside you. Growing. Starting in your chest and head and vibrating in unison outwards..that is what it is to be alive. Nothing but good things for y'all.
@reetside its truly amazing isn't it? I could listen to one Aesop line and think of a thousand different situations to realte them to perfectly, glad to know someone out there like to pick apart rhymes like myself
@WuTang069 No need to correct him saying hip hop and rap are different. What do you think RAP is an acronym for? Rhythm And Poetry. Aes and Vast have rhythm, but Aes is one hell of a poet.
@a1m05tg0n3 he used to be stuck in his cold vein type of content. he is dope. hes chenging shit up. buy ox 2010 and support the dude. Aes is sick. Cant wait for his album with Cage to drop. Does anybody know anything about that?
@dasabrokedub Rap has become the media's derivative of hip hop..hip hop has sunk underground, and out of the spot light as all the kids today want to hear is generic nursery rhymes of bitches and cash over synthetic bassy beats...This is hip hop, not rap...They rap in the song..but they aren't of the genre called rap

Vast and ace are a peanut butter and cyanide sandwich. And I mean that in the best way possible.

I wish Vast and Aes would come out with a album together. I would die a happy man!
Ooooh , this beat nasty, masterfully laid out. Nice work men.
