@@Cigmacica Didn't the British and the French had shared hold of the Suez canal until the Egyptians nationalized it? I'm pretty sure that was the case of a major crisis involving the three countries

Yeah ive noticed that left to their own devices the AI british just always falls behind france.
Yea Britian always ends up at around half the GDP of France in my experience.

They didn't set up the tech and industry properly.
I heard that the reason why France is so OP is because the French colony in India counts as a treaty port which makes France have untarriffed access to the British market
Nah. The main reason France is OP is because although the British market is much larger than the French, France can advance up the tree much faster than Britain and its' colonies effectively. The French Market may be smaller at start date, but it also means that it's more concentrated, and thus fully benefits when France techs up; whereas, a large amount of the British market is split among the colonies, and there is currently no mechanic where colonial states can benefit from their Overlords' research, meaning in the mid-to-late game the British Empire just can't keep up as the French soar through the tech tree.

@@thefrontline1 I think even something basic like colonies getting boosts to techs their overlord has researched would, maybe not fix the issue, but help remedy it. This has been implemented in Hoi4, and while the games are by no means one-to-one I don't think it's a bad idea
@@murri7329 I think it is both, as the ability for the french to get ahead allows them to abuse their one way access to the British market and its poorer people and can get easy cheap unrefined resources and sell the quality goods to them to make a bunch of money, just a one way customs union.

For warfare, from my experience to have more troops in combat it would seem 1 army at a time will attack so it may be better to only have 1 large attacking general advancing the front rather than 10 smaller generals
Also I want to see you finish the game. I think it isn't as bad as hoi4 where once you hit a certain level you can't be touched and it's kinda boring to playthrough but here you'll end up randomly in a war against other great powers over a small piece of dirt in Africa or south America
Its a pdx game and against ai you will always reach that point eventually

i feel like France is just the strongest nation in the game by far : big population mixed with great technologies/industries, very good army and navy and low radicalisation if you compare it to prussia.
So i suppose making france a bit less industrialize at the start and adding a lot more radicalisation (for more classic french revolutions) will slow economic boom a lot and make it a more balance nation.

I don't think nerfing France is the solution.
The problem is that other countries can't industrialise quickly and make bad decisions such as not developing their national resources. If AI decision making is improved, France wouldn't be alone at the top. Because the main problem is that economic development is laughable for every country that is not Frabce

A game that I think would be cool to see you play is ultimate admiral dreadnoughts. It is a battleship era navel game where you design and command a navy and advanced through time and war from 1890 to 1950

Stakuyi, I liked the part of the Victorian Era where Napoleon III said, "It's Francing Time" and crushed the Prussians.
Would love to see a mega campaign someday. Ck3/Ck2 (which ever you prefer) all the way to hoi4.

From what I understand the amount of soldiers you are able to field has to do with the supply/market access to that area from your market. So if you are lacking a solid supply line to support whatever types of troops you have you will have less in battles than you would with a better supply network

Yeah, France seems to be by far the most powerful country in the AI's hands. In my America game I felt like I was doing everything really efficiently and still I was stuck as #2 total GDP as France continued to run away with the #1 spot. The British market should have everything it needs to be #1 but I'm wondering if their dominions don't work together well with GB's primary AI and they don't cohesively build up a strong market
what's more french than being comically rich and still having horrible internal turmoil.

we have more than 1200 different "fromages".
in honesty, some are just a slight variation of the neighbor one.
So how combat works in this game is you basically only want a general pulling troops from one barracks because that’s where he gets all his reserves from (which is dumb). So per HQ you want one state with a maxed out barracks and no other barracks in that hq area then have a lvl 1 or 2 general (depending on width in Europe you want a level to generally). That general with 20 or 40 divisions now is always fighting battles with full morale and divisions that are not reduced at all. You basically wear down the other side way faster then their 100s of troops at the borders can deal with and will melt through them assuming same tech level. Wars are so easy once I figured that out. I don’t ever fully mobilize because having reserves is so important I may have something like 500-600 troops but only be able to mobilize 100-200 at a time.
Oh all this is assuming professional army as well.

The country that has the most pontential is Qing hands down. With an early industrialization you can reach 10 Billions of GDP by 1900 due to the insane amount of workforce.
This was my strat as the US lol. Build shit tons of construction sectors first and then just spam everything. You go into massive debt for a bit but your gdp skyrockets and not long after you end up with like 100-200k per month. Even without taxes. You’re hurting bad in the beginning but it becomes well worth it.

I definitely struggle when it comes to Victoria three in terms of balancing money infrastructure confuses me it’s a huge learning curve

Best way to win combat besides tech, and generals is to only use part of the hq units. If you put 100/100 on a front they have no way to get fresh troops. If you put 50/100 them other 50 will replace your casualties fast.

Typically I don't accept trade agreements especially with big countries, because AI tends to import thousands upon thousands of extremely important goods like iron and coal later on when they start to properly industrialize.

I tried a campaign with Belgium after watching your video, and its now the early 1900s and i am #1 in GDP in both categories, and i can't spend all the money i am earning, even with 3 pages of construction going. My lowest strata also has a SoL of 23 with the upper in the 40s. I have a reserve of 40+ million and am basically waiting for someone to try and conquer me, even though i am Prussia's B*tch. Unlike this video, alot of countries didnt try to stop them from conquering others.

Remember Prussia is one letter away from Russia, that can explain why they might lose a lot.
France, more often than not, is by far the top country by the end of the time frame for the game.

Yeah, I don't get the combat system, honestly against weaker armies I just send 60 to 100 troops and let them do their stuff, worked everytime ^^

Being in debt is actually really good in this game beacuse you are borrowing from the cash reserves of the buildings, as well as wealthy pops. Its better that you're investing it in anything rather than it sitting around in the cash reserves. And as the cash reserves expand, your debt will become a smaller and smaller percentage of it so you can maintain massive levels of debt spending by cycling between buildings that use the investment fund and ones that dont.
I'm watching your fight with the Algerians and I do know that you've overloaded your front lines and mobilized way more men than you needed. Algeria can be beaten by your default amount of troops in North Africa HQ.

Combat is so odd in this game that I am not even surprised Prussia does poorly. Any battle I make, have to just have defensive fronts. I let them break themselves on my ramparts, then I'll push.

You don't have enough construction site you must have at least 2 to 3 times more, in victoria 3 if you earn money it's because you don't produce enough building

I played france. became the strongest. fought germany at their biggest while also dealing with spain at the other border and all the north african nations. I won..... germany had more troops. but you get so powerfull tech wise and indutrially that their using skirmish infantry versus your NCO squad troops....

Tbh this game is stupid easy to learn, at least compared to other pdx games. The main thing you need to know is how the market works. It looks complex, but it’s not. It’s literally just supply and demand.

Ummm the only way you can grow GDP efficiently is by construction. Hell in my current Prussia run I literally was on min taxes and max wages and running 120 construction and still making 80k a week xd.
