In case people don't know, you can unify and form the new nation int the "Cultures" tab, there you will have the tab which will lead you to the button to form it. I had similiar troubles when i finished unifying Germany, but I was still North German Confederation

Military system is more dependent on a hidden modifier (on a second screen of combat) of training rate and number of troops than on offence, defence and combat width. Basically, you want as medium combat width and as big barracks as you can so that your general always has reserves to draw from. Enemy will lose the battle when they run out of reserves because apparently morale straight up doesn't work

Railways are not the only way to improve infrastructure, Ports set to anything that isn't the basic level 1 thing (so, they need to consume some kind of boat from your shipyards) give infrastructure too, though only in the coastal areas. (which is fine because that's where your iron is.)
Also for some reason nation formation decisions are in the Culture tab. Except when they aren't. Because everything is inconsistent in vicky3

In the whole war system, you also make a vital mistake @stakuyi. You advance with all your generals on the front, but you should really pick up your best attacking general modifiers and let him do the advancing, while your other less suitable generals can 'hold the line' by defending the front. That way you would have won 80% more of your battles. Nocap.

I’ve been playing Ethiopia and having a blast. The trick is to sign a protectorate deal fast after you unify the realm. I chose Austria, and while my border is technically closed I am now part of a broader Austrian market. This gives you access to iron, coal, etc early on.
Austria acts as a check against any greedy imperial power attempting to attack me, allowing me to colonize Africa and build a united greater African empire.
The other advantage is that you can force laws through, even if it radicalized landowners. If they revolt, Austria would intervene and ez clap, which also destroys their clout to 0%.
I’m at the point where I can repel France and Britain and seized Kenya. Good stuff

also youre losing battles cuz your not funding your military properly, so the training rate is low, so they dont regain morale... i dealt with this same thing, it was literally just cuz i wasnt funding my military, that morale difference is a big deal... but it is your fault... but they really dont explain what makes up morale at all.

at 16:00, check the manpower on your barracks. Smaller nations that try to chain wars will have manpower issues as it takes time for peasants to filter into the barracks and fill the jobs left behind by casualties. It's unfortunate how hard it is to see that info in the current warfare interface.

24:00, i think Market Access itself is bugged. 99% market access in a state seems to result in a complete gridlock of resources going in and out, rather than a slight reduction in the supply chain, which seems wrong. The AI seems to happily run with slight market access deficits commonly, but the harsh impact may be part of why the AI is so bad at building its own economy. Rather than an early alternative to railroad, i think they need to make a slight dip in market access be less of a problem.

Also that Harar Frontline is a real bitch for some reason. I had 70+ when I started it and they had 24 and we stalemated until both of us were at 0.0 war support. So I just ignored it and focused on economy like a war wasn't going on. Eventually whatever bug it was went away and I made a single break through and then went to -100 instantly.
