Hey fellow Bass Players and Face Makers! In this lesson I demonstrate my shifting method and fingering for a two octave major scale. There are many ways to play a two octave major scale, but the method shown in this example is my preferred fingering. Remember to take it slow and make sure you're separating you're notes. Like always, take it slow and don't forget to give this a THUMBS UP, COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE!

Daric, please do overview which instruments you play and why. I see Erick which you use a lot. Why that choice?

Do you think it is wrong to shift like this: 1st finger on G, shift 1st to A, then 3rd on B, 4th on C - that is, shifting at the beginning of the pattern, not at the end?
Thanks for another great lesson; you are just an outstanding player and teacher!

Charles Coleman it's not wrong but what Darrick is doing is starting the G scale in the "first finger position". That is, start with the 1st finger on G note then 2nd finger on A note then 4th finger on B note (all played on E string). Then 1st finger on C note, 2nd finger on D note and 4th finger on E note (all played on A string),then 1st finger on F# then 2nd finger on G note (played on D string). That is G major played in "1st finger position". Darric is playing the first three notes in that fingering, then shifting up.

      I like to do 1 1 3 4 instead of 1 2 4 4

Your videos are so technically good, you don't need to try to waffle and fill them out with all the talking.
