Terrific. Been listening to stuff like this since I discovered Macroblank. Your work has a uniquely dark, calm atmosphere which I absolutely love. Thank you so much.
bro just from the first minute of your first song here, if you've not heard the end credits mix of Silent Hill 1, look that crap up right now man. and the silent hill game's osts in general ought to be right up your alley
dang, been deep into studying and only now seeing you have 1.7k subs. That is like almost double in a few months. Keep it up OV, we love you and your work!
Do you use low ends of the EQ's to filter out the samples, so it get's that more underwater sound, while the samples are chopped, and reverbed? Also I'm curious on what effects you use the most!
Pretty much, I actually experimented with a filter I normally don't use that gives it like a worn cassette kind of sound and then boosted the bass on the low end with EQ to bring it back out some more as well as boosted where the drums hit so it doesn't sound all flat, I use reverb, delay, filters, EQ's, pitch shifters and compression on everything I do
@@OpalVessel I don't if you're using Fl Studio or Ableton. But are you using a pitchshifter rather than stretching the samples. I usually, reverb a lot of it, and cut out the worst frequencies to give the samples a nice ambient soundscape, where mainly much of my inspiration, derives from Virtual Airnb. I've heard couple of Barber beats artist use the drowny effect like you use. Really dig it tbh!
@@Asilentlearner43 I'll actually stretch samples and then pitch shift them down further, usually 2 to 3 semitones, khs pitch shifter is like my fav vst lol and thank you! I love the dreamy almost underwater effects the most, Jungle Beats sounds like if you took dnb and drowned it in a swamp lol, and I just use FL Studio for all my stuff
I'd say trip hop prolly is the closest, this is a remix of a remix of coco mango by mf doom, my soul bootleg mix has a lot of slowed boom bap like this and old Monodrone releases do too
The beat that kicks in at 1:35:25 gives off this oppressive feel of a corporate run concrete landscape where its a workday at 1pm where everyone is at work, so if you walk the street it has light foot/vehicle traffic but you can see hundreds of people through their building windows working in their offices and warehouses. I love this grimey feel

Side B Track 3 is extremely chill. That guitar thingy is just mesmerizing.
i like how the track turns into an even-slower version of macroblank's '昼食に出る' at 1:09:31.

How ironic I'm listening to this at the end of this year which was last year's new, Welcome to 2024
No, it wasn’t ironic, you deliberately searched for this today
@@Genny-Zee I listened to other Opal Vessel albums and this was suggested.
being recommended previous years' end-of-year mixes around new years' isn't exactly ironic either

@@OpalVessel I've to admit, I rarely delay them unless I make eccojams!
@@OpalVessel Re-listening to some of the songs, it sounds a lot like Mallsoft music, they way you arranged, and mixed them.

Track at 1:25:41 is lit af
what's the genre of that last track, starting at 1:41:40? I've tried searching for slowed down boom bap etc. but nothing like this shows up
