Not been to Levenshulme for 25 years. Any bit off Stockport Road is a little dodgy, but there's some really nice places further out and you'd be amazed how much the houses go for. Was very Irish-Heritage back then, but don't think that's the case anymore.
Lived here for 40 years, main road a A6 bit ropey but back from that it’s ok, plenty of parks, no bad behaviour , good links to city centre there are worse places with gang and drug problems
I lived in Cheetham Hill as a child in the late 70`s. It was filthy then and it`s filthy now. We left in early 80`s. Wouldn`t go back to live in Manchester, which is a shame cos after the bombing by the IRA in the 80`s, Manchester picked up, but only for a while. I`ve never understood why Andy Burnham (scouser) would be elected mayor for Manchester. What has he actually done for the city?
@@paulwild3676 Ever heard of good cop, bad cop, he is part of the old boys club. He knew it was all a theatre production that used cgi and crisis actors at the 'event' in 2017.

My dear old Dad grew up there. ‘Half decent’ and ‘ginnel’ are things I often heard him say. I feel quite choked up, as your accent is the same as his was.
You spent half the video in Longsight? Levenshulme is pretty nice in places, High Street is a little rough round the edges but some decent bars, cafes, restaurants and Highfield country park. Quick access to the city centre and the Peak District as well!
@@Awats668 he spent part of the time in a small part of Lev, with everything closed, then walked to Longsight. Clickbait title and misleading perspective. If you're going to make a video about a place, then at least be in the actual place, idiotic.
You spent most of the time near the train station and then in Longsight and missed out on the nicer sections in South Levenshulme, South Station is converted into a cafe/bar. They are a few others across the road Nordie, Telleryard. You have the Fallowfield loop, a great place for cycling/walking, and running. Also just at the back you have Highfield Country Park, a massive area. Some decent bits in the south part its just a shame as the closer you get towards Longsight the worse it gets.
Are you from Stockport or something? You mentioned getting the bus through levenshume to go for beers in town. How have you never heard of Nobby Stiles or recognise the face of Ian Brown of the Stone Roses from, ha! I’m from ‘Sunny Gorton’ but live in Huddersfield now and laughed when you mentioned Dewsbury. My gf works at the hospital there and said you get two cars side by side but in opposite directions, blocking roads by doing drug deals through the windows in broad daylight 😂
A lot of where you went is longsight and you didn't walk up to south side of levenshulme. It looked as if you were going up towards Station South but then the video cut and you were walking into Longsight, weird.
Levenshulme is not a slum its ok a bit rough like but fine. Longsight market is better on a Saturday. Emiline Pankhurst was the leader of the sufforgette movement that got women the vote, David Lloyd George was prime minister, I'd do some more reading mate if I was you.

Levenshulme is an absolute dump, lived there many many years ago as a child and teenager and it was OK then, lots of pubs , good independent shops that are all gone now , shame
Silly video. You didn't bother to venture into the heart of Levenshulme - towards the antiques village where you would have explored a fusion of Asian and old British culture. Nor did you go to Errwood Road and see the beautiful tree lined streets and see the prosperity and grandeur of the absolutely huge Victorian houses. Didn't do it justice - just a few mummblings about trains.
‘Slums’ is a highly perjorative term, like the N word. It stigmatizes areas and the people who live there. I don’t think you intend to do that at all but words matter
Outskirts of Manchester? Eh? What are you on about...the town centre, perhaps? Levenshulme is in South Manchester on the border of Stockport. You also only looked at North Lev which is pretty much Longsight (or Longistan as I call it, although we're heading the same way as is all of Manchester really!) The indoor market you mentioned is in Gorton, although there used to be a wanker magnet market (lefty hipsters 🙄) now and again - where you were walking behind Lev Station (the car park) with overpriced hippy crap. Diversity is our strength and all that bollocks.

All the towns in Uk seem to have closed shops. Cost of living crisis and on-line shopping ? Small business can't make a profit. Very sad to see.
