- September 2023 marked a remarkable milestone in our journey, as it provided an extraordinary opportunity to gather at the #Tropentag 2023 conference and connect with our esteemed alumni (CIPSEM and TUD). This event served as a dynamic platform to foster knowledge exchange among a diverse and international network of experts.
In collaboration with #DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) under the SDG Alumni project framework, we embarked on a transformative two-week project at #CIPSEM TU Dresden aimed at empowering our alumni and catalyzing network activities. The focus of this initiative was "Food systems and forest products: the role of sustainable consumption and production (SCP)."
Throughout the program, we explored pressing issues that resonate deeply with the challenges of our time. Discussions included topics such as planetary boundaries, doughnut economics, vertical farming, diets and social behavior, the food nexus, carbon neutral products, forest food systems, community supported agriculture, and more.
In addition, our alumni shared their expertise and local realities through a series of compelling case study presentations, also at Tropentag in Berlin. As we reflect on this transformative journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our facilitators and alumni for their invaluable contributions and for leading engaging discussions on all facets of sustainable food and forest systems. The ocean of insights we have gathered is not only for reflection, but more importantly, for application.
