I'm currently cleaning out my parents' place and Decision Fatigue is REAL. In some cases I'm just putting off the decision making until later by bringing stuff like old, dusty letters home. Ugh.
I have a big house and kids are gone now but don’t have their own homes yet and live across country. I know I can get rid of stuff but it fits and I feel like I need to wait til they are settled for much of it.
When they come and visit, you can ask them to go through their stuff. Offer to temporarily store whatever is left after they sort through it. You can also take photos of things and send it to them, asking them if they want to keep individual items. This might help you sllowly declutter, while helping them tackle the job at the same time.

I am glad I kept my sons art work. My sons are now amazing artists. I gave them their work.
