Oh man I remember this game! One of my favorite things about it is it doesn't reset the character position when you win so during their victory animation if they are close to the edge they can fall off. It was always hilarious. Fo was great for that because it's just "Hyatatatata-GAAAAAH!" It's awesome I know what this game is called again so I can play it, when I played it years ago the disc was missing a chunk out of it and somehow still ran it just wasn't able to load music.
I remember Stay Tuned always being on HBO all the time, too. Actually, the only thing I remember is John Ritter on a scary game show and he had to guess like a mad lib that had an eyeball, a warship, and a patch of satin on it. I remember saying the answer out loud and not being able to sleep for like a week because I thought that I had made some sort of pact with the devil. In fact, just remembering that will probably keep me from sleeping tonight.... cool.
Sorry guys, but the character Fo is Chinese, and it's a little hard to throw around accusations of racism when you mix up Chinese and Japanese culture. :P Very glad you played this; it's easily my favorite childhood fighting game.
Had the guys researched some fun button combos from BAT like the complicated one that makes Fo fart magic or the intro screen cheat to unlock the boss characters I think at least one of 'em may have said "continue". This was the first game my brother brought home from Toys R Us on the PS1 launch day.
I was at a party the other day and I met some guy. I told him my name was David King and he's like, like the King of Davids from Continue? It was the weirdest awesome thing ever :)
I have fond memories of playing the Game Boy version of this game as a kid. My cousin had it and I found it once at his house, so I tried it out and thought it was fun whipping people with Sofia. It took me forever to remember the name of it when I got older so I could find it again to play before I realized there was a PS1 version, too. I think it's good on both myself.
Fun fact: This game was one of the PSX launch titles. Also fun fact: When the game is set to "Very Easy" or 'Easy", you can change the controls so that way the shoulder buttons all do your specials.
Holy Sh**, this old game! Old Chinese Racism has an attack where he blasts you with an explosive fart of death. It's one of the very few redeeming qualities of this game. Still Game Over though.
I remember Stay Tuned, shit was "tight yo". Has anyone seen or remember the movie "Freaked", had the dude who wasnt Keanu Reeves in bill and ted, (keanu makes an uncredited appearance as wolf boy), had Bobcat Goldthwait, Mr T, and a few others. Funny as hell. Heard it was directed by dude who did Ren and Stimpy, nvr looked into it much tho. Either way, great movie that no one I know really knows bout. "Then he turned me into a sock, im not the best story teller."
Oh wow, old school PSX game - too bad you don't have the box since it came in the giant ones that look like SegaCD/Saturn kind. Sofia was every boy's drool girl back then, with 'dat whip. Fun video, love the Samurai Champloo references (and it's Fuu, in case you haven't read that in enough comments yet, lol). Great job guys! :-D
***** Well then. I guess out of the many people I've met, not one of them have been self-conscious about his/her feet. So by that logic, most Americans are self-conscious about their feet.
nat noah Nah, it's more about manners, I think. Most of us Americans, I think, walk around our homes with no shoes on. It's being told to take off your shoes that some people take offense to. Beats the shit out of me why, besides what I had said before.
***** Maybe it's just American TV that's led me to believe that most Americans walk around their house with shoes on. In Canada, all of the people's houses I go to have a little area in front of the door to leave your shoes when you walk in.
Is anyone else getting Spanish ads for cleaning products? Just curious as to how Senor Clean relates to a retro game comedy review series. Maybe I'm overthinking it.
Man, Continue? cast. Paul looks pretty much identical to me when I was a 5 year old. I mean, other than the wily good looks and not-five-year-old face. But those are easy to overlook in such a perfectly mirror image.
I remember this game from long ago, but could never remember the name. The only think I remember was the crazy look that Fo had in 2P style, and I waited to see if they saw it. :3
I have this on Sega Saturn, but oddly not on PS1. They really do feel different. I'm so glad 3d fighters got way better on the ps1 later on. this was.. a weird time for fighting games in general, with 3d still being quite new.
Yeah, and before round 1 it says bout 1 fight, because bout is a synonym for battle or confrontation. It's essentially the same as saying "round 1, fight!"
first fighting game i played and it was great. game difficulty on "easy" (or very easy) and you were able to reconfig the controller, so that the L and R buttons did special moves!
Aw you guys didn't discovered Old man Fo runnin, his running animation with his claws yes I use to like this game back then, but I can see it didn't age well, maybe because it was slow paced wonder why they didn't add a turbo mode? but it had great music in few stages . oh and there 2 more hidden playable fighters just like your Ryu and Ken clones, theres a Akuma. then the final boss
OMG! I had this game on Gameboy! I always played as dominatrix whip lady since she was the only one I could beat the game with! Also, totally jealous of Eiji's waist. Think he corset trains?
This game didn't age well, but it was very impressive when initially released. Keep in mind that this game was made before the NA/EU Playstation launch! It wasn't built around combos and button mashing like Tekken 1, but instead used Street Fighter-style special moves. Once you became familiar with the controls, it was a lot of fun and many people enjoyed it more than Tekken. Tekken 2 was a huge improvement though, while Toshinden 2 wasn't horrible it paled in comparison.

Ellis was really good at taking a tumble during her victory too!
I remember enjoying the Battle Arena Toshinden games.
This is the slowest growing channel that deserves an insane amount more then they get on youtube. Love you guys!
My god. A fresh episode of Continue? I can still smell Philadelphia on it.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/Philly_cream_cheese.jpg
Mmmm, Philadelphia... lol
10:37 ROLLING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF EIJI!
now this is a game that takes me back to the ps1 era. awesome game.
In fact, just remembering that will probably keep me from sleeping tonight.... cool.
The Game Boy port of this was really good. You could plug it into the Super Game Boy and play two player that way. So much fun.
Sorry guys, but the character Fo is Chinese, and it's a little hard to throw around accusations of racism when you mix up Chinese and Japanese culture. :P Very glad you played this; it's easily my favorite childhood fighting game.
The whole racism thing is a joke.
*****
meh...
***** Salty
Also, Ellis was my favorite of all time.
"I never give up!"
Over the years I think we reviewed like 8 or 9 games in this series.
I love this game I remember playing it on ps1 , miss it !
Been waiting for this all day. Thank You
I have to wonder how much time you guys (or, well, the editor) must spend looking up and acquiring clips for all these references you always make :D
Thank you Nick for helping me FINALLY remember the name of that damn movie!
Had the guys researched some fun button combos from BAT like the complicated one that makes Fo fart magic or the intro screen cheat to unlock the boss characters I think at least one of 'em may have said "continue". This was the first game my brother brought home from Toys R Us on the PS1 launch day.
If they researched anything, it wouldn't be Continue?
Atticus Jackson True. You make a valid point, sir.
MIDNIGHT0521 *thank you*
You just have nostalgia glasses. This game has NOT aged well.
eins2001 has any ps1 game? the transition from 2d to 3d was a really muddy ugly mess. look at n64.
It was one of my favorite early PS1 games, but yeah, it didn't age well.
I wish someone could bring this series back for the newest consoles.
I have a cold but new continue eps always make me feel better.
I was at a party the other day and I met some guy. I told him my name was David King and he's like, like the King of Davids from Continue? It was the weirdest awesome thing ever :)
That Legend of Neil.
smoke108 Kill Link. -Nick Murphy
Continue? KILL LINK! - Josh Neilock Neilock
Continue? Awww ye
Continue? Sofia was actually the main mascot for the Playstation. Go and look at some of the crazy commercials. they crammed her into.
You have to appreciate someone who appreciates Legend of Neil...and knows it exists.
I feel like when Josh said bye, he was saying it to me.
I was.
Josh
that Jeffrey Jones thing is a trip, I never heard of it til today. He was scary as shit in the Howard the Duck movie, lol.
JENNINGS!!!
Josh
Battle Arena Toshiden was one of the first games that I have ever played. This and Super Mario World. So much nostalgic
The second he said "This is just like Tekken with weapons," I immediately said, "So Soul Calibur?"
Yeah! !! I sent you that game. I put it in with rising zan.
"This is basically like Tekken with weapons."
So...Soul Calibur then.
The main girl from Samurai Champloo was Fuu.
DarthEnderX Yup. Beat me to it.
THEEEEEE QUICKENIIIIING!!!!
amazing game and was the First 3d side scroller fighter before soul edge also has one of the best ost, also the first fighter for playstation 1
It also has fatal fury's special and super move systems.
I take off my shoes for comfort reasons, more than anything else.
ditto... same reason I'm naked within 0.2 seconds of closing the door
What if you step on a turd?
Tony Longpipes Simple. Either wash my foot off, or get some new socks.
Tony Longpipes Inside?
Fun fact: This game was one of the PSX launch titles.
Also fun fact: When the game is set to "Very Easy" or 'Easy", you can change the controls so that way the shoulder buttons all do your specials.
Continue for Eiji's Stage Theme that still shreds my face after like 20 years
That's a nice mime costume you're wearing today, Paul.
5:20 - what's funny is that classic samurai actually did use spears. :-P
And even classicer samurai used bows.
Who the fuck DOESN'T take their shoes off? You wanna track mud and dirt and shit throughout the carpet?
Who the fuck steps in shit? What is this, 1812?
Josh
Continue? You don't even know how to was Kayin, Josh. You don't even know.
If I remember correctly, Sofia was the face of the series. It got out-classed as soon as Tekken came out.
So it was out-classed about a month before it's own release? XD
+noisyturtle Bullshit. Tekken didn´t become more popular until tekken 3. You have probably not even played tekken 1-2, kid.
I LOVE YOU GUYS FOR THIS
Stay Tuned was one of my favorite movies as a kid lol.
I remember playing this in elementary school. Could never remember the title until now!
should do a continuecast style/format of some old or obscure movies. I would definitely listen to that
I'd like to see the guys play Tech Romancer or Project Justice on the Dreamcast.
It's Fuu. The Samurai Champloo girl's name is Fuu.
You guys didn't even play through the single player to fight the boss. That is the best part.
Samurai Champloo mentioned -> respect sent on its way
Holy Sh**, this old game! Old Chinese Racism has an attack where he blasts you with an explosive fart of death. It's one of the very few redeeming qualities of this game. Still Game Over though.
I'm late to this party but you guys basically said "NOSHINDEN" to this game! *Vanishes into the mist*
God I loved legend of Neil so much. gotta get my hands on a DVD somehow
I really like puns and word play, I badly wish I thought of Samuraiah Carey, that's fucking gold.
Kinda trippy that I still have a copy of this game for PC.
I REMEMBER THIS. Me and my brother used to play this with my cousin when I was like 6.
I have a good idea
SAMURAI MONTH!!!!
YEAAAAAHHH
That could EASILY be a thing with how many samurai themed games there are. Also Ninja Month.
MikkoLovesGaming Racism month
Io hoho Nah, too broad a concept. :P
Asian racism month?
I remember Stay Tuned, shit was "tight yo". LEGEND OF NEIL HELL YEAH
I really gotta play a Toshinden game for my channel, remember playing I think 2 on the PC back in the day at a friend's place.
I guess it's an American thing to leave your shoes on....
More like a "guy who's self-conscious about his feet" kind of thing.
***** Well then. I guess out of the many people I've met, not one of them have been self-conscious about his/her feet. So by that logic, most Americans are self-conscious about their feet.
***** nailed it.
nat noah Nah, it's more about manners, I think. Most of us Americans, I think, walk around our homes with no shoes on. It's being told to take off your shoes that some people take offense to. Beats the shit out of me why, besides what I had said before.

Ah good old incidental music... That was my ringtone at some point.
First game I ever got for the PS1; those were rad times.
amazing game and was the First 3d side scroller fighter before soul edge also has one of the best ost, also the first fighter for playstation 1
Main girl from Samurai Champloo is Fuu, but Mae was a nice guess...
Seriously though you guys are awesome, these videos are hilarious
Is anyone else getting Spanish ads for cleaning products? Just curious as to how Senor Clean relates to a retro game comedy review series. Maybe I'm overthinking it.
Why do the character portraits look like those "how to draw manga" things?
This game was the first game I ever played for the PS1. I thought it was so weird when I accidentally unlocked one of the first four unlockables.
Man, Continue? cast. Paul looks pretty much identical to me when I was a 5 year old. I mean, other than the wily good looks and not-five-year-old face. But those are easy to overlook in such a perfectly mirror image.
IIRC, Sofia was actually the mascot for this game. It was the '90s, after all.
I remember this game from long ago, but could never remember the name. The only think I remember was the crazy look that Fo had in 2P style, and I waited to see if they saw it. :3

I forgot I used to have this game. Looking back at it reminds me of a cross between Soul Calibur and Street Fighter.
Any word on when continuecast might be back. I know you guys are super busy, but I miss it
explanation as to why duke wears purple: purple is a color symbolizing death in japan
this was one of the first games i bought for the PS1 AWESOME GAME!!!
Can't believe no one noticed it says BOUT 2 FIGHT on the second round. That kept making me laugh.
Yeah, and before round 1 it says bout 1 fight, because bout is a synonym for battle or confrontation. It's essentially the same as saying "round 1, fight!"
Stay Tuned was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Driving Over Miss Daisy for the win.
I just want a picture of Josh's face during that Incidental Music cut away on a shirt.
Josh looks like a turtle without it's shell.
first fighting game i played and it was great. game difficulty on "easy" (or very easy) and you were able to reconfig the controller, so that the L and R buttons did special moves!
Paul got a new shirt!
Still meaning to send Josh some Guam shirts..
Maybe when I get a job.
I think that was the first "The Legend of Neil" reference I've ever come across.
Aw you guys didn't discovered Old man Fo runnin, his running animation with his claws
yes I use to like this game back then, but I can see it didn't age well, maybe because it was slow paced
wonder why they didn't add a turbo mode?
but it had great music in few stages
.
oh and there 2 more hidden playable fighters
just like your Ryu and Ken clones, theres a Akuma.
then the final boss
As a kid I really liked that game...Mondo was kickass!
You guys should play the second one. Its way better and I think you would like the Overdrive attacks a lot.
lol scary sunglasses Nick makes me think of Butterball from hellraiser.... Only because its halloween really
This game has a rather nice soundtrack.
This was the first PS1 game I ever played
I used to play the shit out of this when I was young. I had forgotten all about it
OMG! I had this game on Gameboy! I always played as dominatrix whip lady since she was the only one I could beat the game with!
Also, totally jealous of Eiji's waist. Think he corset trains?
Mondo has the face of a high-elf in TES 3 Morrowind.
Speaking of Mondo, is there anything better than getting that little drip of juice out of the cap?
This game didn't age well, but it was very impressive when initially released. Keep in mind that this game was made before the NA/EU Playstation launch! It wasn't built around combos and button mashing like Tekken 1, but instead used Street Fighter-style special moves. Tekken 2 was a huge improvement though, while Toshinden 2 wasn't horrible it paled in comparison.
Dude, Eiji is straight up Sanoske from Rurouni Kenshin!! Also, you guys NEED to play Bushido Blade! Seriously!
what video is that with the old man
where does the contined music come from
First game probably had the best music, my fave was always the third game, despite the crazy amount of clone characters.
Never got to play this series, though I heard the third was the best in the series.
"Ringo was the Powerman 5000 of The Beatles"
What happened to the audio quality?
Used to play this all the time with my cousins.....i actually still have the disc.
Las graficas eran sorprendentes para su epoca... un gran juego que me recuerda mi infancia junto con el ps1
Fuck yes, Legend of Neil.
Where is that old man clip from?
I like the Producers reference
Damn, I love me some Legend of Neil.
