I love honeycomb. It does wonders for my allergies in the spring (I have no symptoms anymore!). I cut off about a teaspoon's worth and pop it in my mouth and chew on it at breakfast. SO DELICIOUS. Someday, I will raise my own bees.

You could seperate it through a strainer if you mixed it before hand and left it in the strainer for a while with a bucket underneath. Just scrape it off the template. You can reuse the template like that as well.
Big raw honeycombs on a stick (You know, the honecombs that you see on a tree) costs 4$ in Thailand. The only problem is they still have some larvae and alive bees inside. It's not called RAW for nothing

It sure is. There are many different answers to this question, but ultimately it depends on the beekeeper. The general standard in beekeeping is that you have the bees in a box on the bottom, and "supers" that they will fill with honey on the top. The bees will only put excess honey in the top, which is what they plan to use to survive the winter with. Generally bees will way overproduce, which is what we humans will take from them. So we take the excess, that they were supposed to use to survive the winter with. In return, we set them up with a home, insulation, and food for the winter. We ensure that they have optimal conditions to survive the winter, generally even better conditions than they would have had with their honey to begin with. So to answer, it depends on the beekeeper, but yes, we're still doing just fine by the bees.
So I'm just thinking out loud here, but let's say I buy honey on the comb and take it home. What's the best way to separate the honey from the wax? If I were to heat it up in a container, would the wax simply float to the top and the honey stay on the bottoM
I love that stuff! Its very difficult to get it fresh in a shipment. The first one i got was fresh so i tried to get more and the second time it was not any good. It was very dried up like the petrified forest lol

The process is a little bit different. They take the comb and put it into an extractor after scraping off the top layer of wax. The extractor spins around and pulls the honey out of the cells.
I was a beekeeper for the summer, and I've already forgotten the terminology... But what about the plastic frame that the bees build the honeycomb onto? Do you just eat around it, or does this frame not have that plastic sheet?
