“Brothers, unite. It’s the key to make our country great, gaining confidence and finding happiness. United, we could find all the answers. My brother, if we unite our country will change.” A beautiful song from São Tomé 💜🙏🏿
Seeing this man do the best he can each day to restore 1 big piece of the under water environment is rebuilding my faith in part's of humanity I didn't think existed, thank you from down under Australia 😊
Loved this documentary. Korean and AA (Nigerian) and wonderful to see parts of yourself in different cultures. Mom makes all sorts of natural remedies ie teas, soups, drinks etc that have worked for centuries. Mom even dried the milk in my breasts naturally when I finished breastfeeding with a certain fruit. I go to her first for everything. Thank you for bringing forth meaningful & positive information. God bless
I enjoyed watching this. There're positive stories about African, but Western media most of the times choose to show only the negative one. I watched this documentary over and over.
This world is not created by god.. God was on the planet a mere 2000 years ago.. 🦕 were here 65million years ago.. it's over 100million years old.. no God there.. only evolution..😂
In New Zealand, there were billions of kauri trees when the European settlers arrived . In about 100 years these magnificent trees were cut down by then , now there are few thousands left. The European settlers destroyed the nature all over the world.
“I really think adding a little sugar would make it better…it’s really bitter .” Always, trying to change things. Outside of the excellent documentary of beautiful people.
Westerners are in general not very used to discomfort so taking bitter herbs/remedies isn't something most of them do...Also they're typically used to eating/drinking a lot of added sugar so they tend to expect things to not be bitter or even just bland.A few of us like myself & my mother mix up very bitter herbs to drink for health but we're unusual🤗.
There was no discussion of there politics, how they obtain water, what other ways of making a living are there, what other crops are grown, villages and ways of living, the religion, transportation, i loved what I saw, but there was so much more to learn.

The country is very rich in culture and history. It would take a longer documentary to address it all, but in short, and to answer your questions, they have an active democracy, people may speak freely about their political views; The islands are subtropical - there is plenty of rainfall, and no lack of water, although it is rarely plumbed, but rather obtained from the nearest spring, stream, or outdoor laundry; apart from fishing and agriculture, there is work in tourism, the islands being a popular spot for people coming from or flying through Portugal via direct flight; apart from cacao, coffee, vanilla, and pepper are produced; whilst traditionally the islanders are mostly of Catholic persuasion, there are around nine other Christian denominations; transport between the islands is made by plane or boat, and motorbikes are used extensively within the islands, being used as the most common kind of taxi service too...truly there is so much to find about on these islands. They are very beautiful and special.
Here in the Philippines we call the Herbal Healers " ALBULARYO" from the Spanish word "HERBOLARIO" ....these days not a lot of Filipinos believe in their way of healing unlike maybe 50-60 years ago.
Nature is very beautiful and fascinating facts and interesting event and other different types of people and drama and different stories and facts people and amazing scenery and awesome view 😉❤❤❤
Beautiful country. Beautiful people making the best life they can with what they have. It's a difficult job the environmental official has, trying to help people understand conservation in order to sustain their future. And it's a tough call, weighing the cutting down of one tree to make two boats versus the high cost of buying boats made of synthetic materials which may have an even greater environmental impact. He needs the wisdom of Solomon to do his work.
That’s not true it known by most San Tomeans that the island had an indigenous population before the Portuguese arrived, they never settled with the enslaved Congolese however.
Cutting down one tree, that takes 20 years to grow, to make a boat is sustainable. Another will grow up in its place. The turtle thing is another issue altogether.
Isaiah 11:11-12 KJV And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
So these people lived for generations fishing turtles and making canoes from trees, then an NGO comes from the outside and pays a couple of people to instil a sense of guilt on them for their millennial way of life?
Oh yes because the westerners know best as many of their families fall apart & their community ties sever and their land/water becomes ever more polluted. The 🇺🇸 for example is a poster child for this way of 💭 & more of us need to realize this way of 💭 is flawed even if sometimes we have good intentions with it.
It seems like schools in other countries there's a lot of freedom, like you can go to school with a mohawk haircut 😂, rainbow braids 😂,here in Kenya, school life is the most difficult phase 😢the strictness in Kenyan schools is on another level 😅😅
Inexhaustible is not created by the people who have always depended on the sea for their food supply, rather by outside conglomerates fishing only to make a profit. Modern technology has increased the tonnage of harvesting from the sea,not these poor people. Education is good, but look to your own backyard. They are not the cause of world wide over fishing and things such as deforestation, but the demon conglomerates. Where else can these people go, whose resources have been effected by modern technology. Unfortunately it is always the result of western civilization and encroachment on the lesser people who barely get enough to survive. Resulting on intrusion by these mammoths to include them in the decline of resources. It's a fact it's far easier to remove or convince these people of a dilemma begun somewhere else.

These are the Jews who were exiled from Portugal to the Sao Tome islands. They were forced to abondon their original religion and adopt christianity by the Portuguese. Sad. At the appointed time the creator promised to gather his people and restore them.
That’s ridiculous in these times , killing a huge tree that is hundreds of years old for a single boat ! The cost to the planet outweighs the benefit to a few people by millions of times ! A single fibre glass or aluminum boat will last way longer and the trees can keep cleaning the air and water giving many animals life including the human animal !
