I love his drive alongs ,he is very knowledgeable and gets across his points in a way you understand. Being into diesel performance since my 96 12V was a year old , I’ve tuned and modded many local trucks of friends and family and Nick says it the best. The extra power towing is an intermittent power boost only...depending on coolant temps,AIT temp ambient temps ,air density and conditions
Good example of the drag point. I have a 2006 5.9 with 6 spd manual. I will use fuel mileage as an example. A few years ago I went 1500 miles with a 38' gooseneck step deck hauling an '05 F350 crew cab long box. The trailer weighed 7700 lbs and the Ford weighs about 7500. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I got between 9 and 11 mpg that trip. Totally had to do with the low drag of hauling another vehicle on the trailer in spite of the weight. With the same '06 5.9 towing a 14' enclosed trailer I have gotten as low as 8 mpg bucking the wind with less than half the weight.
The CP4.2 injection pump sucks. I have a single wheel 3500 with the HO. The entire fuel system has already been replaced. It took FCA over 85 days to perform the repair.
just got done watching all these comparison videos!! gotta give the Ram credit least amount of horsepower dually and heavier with the old UNTUNNED 6 speed Aisin vs new 10 speed transmissions in the GM and Ford and still able to put the power down 0-60!! Now you guys need to break the Aisin so I can get my trans tuned to match the tune you guys gave me on my 16 Ram 3500 HO! My converter clutch does not lock up till halfway threw 2nd when towing heavy also in the sport tune and then wants to jump right into 3rd after lockup unless I run it manually up to 3rd and im hoping when we"re able to tune it it will help that situation out!! so lets get crackin!!! LOL !! all 3 are great trucks but you gotta love that inline 6 for the torque delivery!!
Perfect timing just sold my 2003 3500 gmc slt after 6 sets of injectors and 300 k I let her go looking at new trucks and don't have a clue whitch to get I don't tow coming from gm land befor looking at diffrent brands
After 20 years of owning a Ram HD for my towing vehicle I just ordered a 2020 Ford F 350. I just don't like the Aisin transmission. Ram needs major improvement in the transmission Dept!!
1250 F at the manifold is about the highest I would sustain for more than a few minutes. Anything over 1350 F at the manifold is where you should start backing down.

Aisin trans has been available since 08 at least in cab and chassis.

Still no trans tuning for the Aisin and the need to maintain factory defueling between shifts to keep it from flare shifting/general funkiness huh.
