ebay needs to implement a return policy for stuff sold in ebay motors, that the buyer needs to provide a invoice or receipt from a certified repair shop stating the item is DOA or broken because ive had so many buyers last few years trying to install the the parts them selfs to save money and end up damaging the part from incorrectly installing and then open a item not as described case saying the part was broken. I also had to get rid of PayPal because I sold someone a 800 motor block and they ruined it by never fixing their cooling issue so 2 months later they opened a case with PayPal saying I sent them a bad engine block. even after I asked the buyer a bunch of investigative questions basically admitting to it being their fault. I had to fight with PayPal for 4 months and still lost the case. just wild what some people will try to do to you now a days to get something for free from their ignorance
This is a good idea, I mean we do make mistakes but I do my best to make sure everything we ship out is good to go or as described. Even then eBay has made it hard to read the details on a part, I sold a diff and even wrote in the first picture “for parts or repair” big and red, the guy left negative feedback that the diff was messed up. It was 20% of the price of all the others on eBay is probably why they bought it.

Nice! I bought a used lower unit for my 1986 Mercury 200 outboard engine for $800 back in the mid 2000's on ebay. Was very happy. It arrived in cardboard from UPS. Bolted it up and worked perfectly.
I need a stator for a 2002 sportsman 700 Twin, never would I have imagined what these things cost! New-cost more than I gave for machine. Used- cost as much as five new stators for a 500 sportsman (from Amazon)
Yea new oem is pretty high. When i was working on a 02 I found that the stators on them is very problematic. It is usually swapped to 04 or 05 and up but you have to swap the stator, flywheel and ecu. It may be worth looking into if you plan to keep the quad long term.
I need to sell stuff but have no idea on how too. I am a solo running muffler shop, so things have to be on the quick side, or it doesn't happen. Can you help me with the how too. You seem to be smart in this area.
I would be sure you can ship it first; mufflers are hard to be worth shipping due to the cost of shipping. Besides that, i would find a comparable listing on eBay to what you are trying to sell, scroll down to sell one like this then there are only a few things to fill in. It should take 3-4 min to list at most. I personally have to ship first thing in the morning, or it will get pushed off and not shipped, this is a big no no to Ebay.
After a few years off, I listed a Vespa scooter a couple of months ago. Buyer asked to cancel the sale right after the auction ended. Nothing I could do about it except agree or ignore for a few days and his request is automatically approved. A few weeks after that experience, I received an email from Ebay telling me how they were "improving" the experience by putting a button in the auction page so buyers can cancel their winning bid more easily... I will NEVER sell there again and I only buy on Ebay when it is something I can't get from an alternative source. Ebay has ruined Ebay.
Unfortunately to compete with amazon and cheap buyers they are making some poor changes that effect the sellers. I'm not a big fan of buying on eBay lately since it seems like none of these sellers have any urgency to get the package shipped out.
I used to do ebay with jetski parts but with so many returns, and price of shipping supplies, its not worth it. Im thinking of just selling on Facebook marketplace.
I live in the country and have never had good luck doing local sales. I did do PWC for a while as well, it has to be newer model and high value parts to be worth the while. The older skis had too many parts that werent even worth shipping costs so i know what you mean.
It would depend on how many listings you're hitting each month. If you have listed/sold 306 or more, it would be more cost effective to have the basic store @ $21.95 a month. If you are doing 1152 or more listed and sold it would be more cost effective to have the premium store @ $59.95. That is all listed and sold since if you start the month with 250 listings and you list 100 but sell 50, its still over the 306 mark even though it would only show you have 300 current listings. I am going to check my eBay now since I'm pretty sure they are charging me 74.99 a month.
They do charge me $74.95 a month since I don't pay annual. To cover the cost of month to month The basic store would be an extra 24 listings and the premium an extra 150.
What tagging and inventory software do you use. Your tagging system looks organized and automated. Also, how many parts would you say you keep in inventory?
We use motolister although I don’t really recommend them anymore since the software is going down hill and the support sucks. I am around 3700 parts right now, I have been 3500-4000 over the last year.
I f’ing hate their return policy they are many scammers out there that abuse it buy stating the item doesn’t work when it does and then they start a return and send THEIR damage part back and not the one I sent the. I had this happen to me with a $350 Prius abs module, scum bag Arab claimed it didn’t work and so sure I accept the refund but what was returned was not my item and I tried telling eBay this and they did nothing for me. I guess I can filter out their scammers by putting a custom made sticker with my logo saying that if removed it will void any warranty/return.
Hello my friend great video, I did have a question do you have to have a permit or a sales tax permit to to sell on eBay? am also assuming we do have to report our profits to the irs at the end of the year? thank you for your time, I'm want to sell things on eBay but I don't want to get in trouble with the law lol
They report the income after a certain number of sales or certain dollar amount although I'm not sure what it is. Ebay does all the sales tax remitting so you don't have to collect it and send it in to your state. I don't have a permit but since I'm a business i am a registered LLC. I would recommend checking your local laws since that's what will matter most.
In Oklahoma I have to have a sales tax permit even though I'm not set up as an LLC. Once a month I have to send a report in with my total sales after shipping and fees for the previous month and I have to make a note that eBay remits all sales tax. It literally takes under a minute to fill out and submit.
eBay isn’t meant to be a permanent store. It’s meant to be a start to eventually growing your business until you can open your own store front business.
I buy and sell on ebay. The fees are way out of hand. They say 12%. More like 33.3%. About not backing up sellers...They do back up the sellers. I bought something earlier this year. Said it was delivered at 6:10 AM. My mailman isnt even out of bed at 6:10 am. Due to the fact it said it was delivered.....I lost my money. Ebay is going to be a memory if they dont fix all the problems they have.Buyers and sellers are not going to keep losing.
That is about the only thing they will back up but anything else they don't, I will add that all the carriers have a gps location when they drop a package so in a problem like that you can usually talk to the postmaster to fix it.
I had no idea you had a business at this level, and here I am offering you a computer for a 2005 sportsman HO (yesterdays video, 09-17-2024)😂 I’d be like fat kid in a smartie factory at your place!
I know the pain. I drove tractor trailer for an Amazon freight partner and most warehouses have a gate check in system where someone (middle eastern) is talking to you through a speaker box and half the time you can't understand them. when i first started you had Amazon employees checking you in and then they outsourced along with an outsourced dispatch. Also, I owned a Honda 200m back in the 80's. It was a step up from the 200s model and was an awesome machine!
I have tried to up the price on parts, but our sales suffered, these are used parts and its cut throat. PSN will undercut me as soon as i list a machine and they list the same one the next week. Aside from the higher dollar items, some stuff i just price high and leave it high.
@@tallbrian100 we actually shut down the eBay business a couple months ago to pursue building them instead of parting them out so now it’s just a handful of extra parts I have getting sold. It’s not worth the extra costs to run it on other platforms.

I find that as a buyer on eBay, finding what im actually after after typing something in the search bar typically comes up with crap not even related to what im searching for. usually the search results are flooded with direct ship from china garbage or the same Chinese garbage that can be shipped from California or somewhere on the east side of the US. eventually after some scrolling ill find what im after but it seems like the overseas sellers are flooding the items description with so many key words its typically the top result.
What are some ATVs/sxs/ATCs that if you see them for sale you know they are a gold mine for parts? Like the parts will sell and make you money? When you get one, do you always try and get it working or do you just strip it and place the parts for sell?
Lately it’s been fix everything that’s repairable, parts wise I really like yz125s 96-01, early rzr 800, sportquads like the ltz, ltr, 400ex, etc. it really is more price point that specific models now. I like fuel injected machines under $500. I don’t really do the atcs since very few models are worth while and those bring big bucks.

I’m in okc, I think I might start doing with with outboard motors
I did it with a Yamaha pro 50 and it did pretty good for the price i paid for it. If you know them well it would be pretty easy!
Thanks for the video, I’ve been recently staying consistent on listings. I’d like to see video on what subscription I should use for eBay. 🍻
@@TheATVHustle hey thanks, I’m closer to the basic store atm. I’ll take your advice and update my account soon
Thanks for the video. I also sell on ebay but just starting out, I also still work. Looking to break out.
I worked a full-time job while building my eBay inventory when i first started. Keep going and you can make it there!
I go up to 20% on promoted till I hit my weekly monetary goal. After that I shut off all promotions and just send offered of 10% to 15% off.
Right before we shut down our eBay I shut off the promoted listings and the offsite ads, I really didn't see a decline in sales.
Great, honest vid!
Thank you!
Good job, how do you keep track of your inventory?
I used ebay/motolister to keep up with my inventory.
I just can't handle ebay fee's. 13.25% just to list on ebay, it's way too much for higher price items.
Yea it does stack up quick.
We write on some of our parts with yellow paint marker, it still doesn’t help with some bad buyers but weeds out a lot.
Hey, how many parts you got, and how many sales you have a week? Thanks!
When we were listing consistently at around 3800-4000 parts we sold between 125-200 parts a week.
It literally takes under a minute to fill out and submit.
website better than crooked platforms
It could be if set up right.
But most importantly... do you have a choke plunger for a (1985?) DR 600??? or a good carb...
I have never even seen that model.
eBay isn’t meant to be a permanent store. It’s meant to be a start to eventually growing your business until you can open your own store front business.
Many sellers thrive on eBay, in my industry the largest used parts seller still has all their inventory on eBay.
That is about the only thing they will back up but anything else they don't, I will add that all the carriers have a gps location when they drop a package so in a problem like that you can usually talk to the postmaster to fix it.
eBay fees have gotten to be very high
I am not a fan of the fees 😂 Just the money that goes to my acct.
I can’t even list an item for sale right now, because of a problem with their app! Really ebay….
The app has always been pretty solid for me but I didn't try to use it yesterday.
Guthrie oklahoma here. What part of BFE you from?
If a million have theirs promoted who’s gets promoted ?
I guess whoever pays the higher rate ranks first.
You shake the camera too much. Makes me dizzy. But besides. Great info
Noted! Thanks!
5-6,000!? Holy heck man! 🎉
2:01. As of September 2024, eBay has discontinued their global shipping program.
I'll have to look into that, I haven't seen anything on it.
Most machines out there dont have titles as they are strictly offroad etc. how do you deal with that? any trouble parting them out and junking stuff?
I have never had an issue but my state didn’t issue titles for atvs until recently. It is very common for it to not have a title in tx/ok/la/ar
I had no idea you had a business at this level, and here I am offering you a computer for a 2005 sportsman HO (yesterdays video, 09-17-2024)😂
I’d be like fat kid in a smartie factory at your place!
I have since sold out of the used parts biz, I still sell a little on eBay but not at this level. I buy, repair and then sell the quads now.
Where do you source your inventory?
Mostly Facebook marketplace but some i buy from auctions.
I'm closer to TX near Broken Bow.
I have been selling on ebay for years and ebay has always backed me up. Not sure why people are having this problem.
For me it was only after covid.
Do you pay for the shipping or the customer?
Most of the stuff i do free shipping, the larger items will get calculated shipping.
You are just hurting yourself when you lower your price undercutting everyone else ! It lowers the price for everyone!
I have tried to up the price on parts, but our sales suffered, these are used parts and its cut throat. PSN will undercut me as soon as i list a machine and they list the same one the next week. Aside from the higher dollar items, some stuff i just price high and leave it high.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Selling on ebay is too expensive, between 10% ebay and 3% for paypal is too much.
I dont like seeing the fees come out of the total either 😂
@@TheATVHustle Every order you send out I assume you send out a card with your phone #, website link and you cross post your parts on your own site.
@@tallbrian100 we actually shut down the eBay business a couple months ago to pursue building them instead of parting them out so now it’s just a handful of extra parts I have getting sold. It’s not worth the extra costs to run it on other platforms.
You got any motors for a 2017 Polaris 570 rzr
I do not..
Yes I have a comment: Tell me all the years of a YZ 80's engines you have in stock and the costs. About the your there has been some types of mailman trash peoples mail, later on they found out the mailman was getting a hand full of cash by someone for doing that to that person, but why ? good qustion. As long as they are not trying to drive prodistins to tent city to die (debt bondage boys and bottom feeder), in a soft cudita take over, I feel OK.
I have sold out of full-time parts selling to facebook.com/brutalpartsncllc
HE now has all of my old inventory although i dont think there was much YZ80 stuff left.
Ebay has went to hell in last 20 years
I find that as a buyer on eBay, finding what im actually after after typing something in the search bar typically comes up with crap not even related to what im searching for. usually the search results are flooded with direct ship from china garbage or the same Chinese garbage that can be shipped from California or somewhere on the east side of the US. eventually after some scrolling ill find what im after but it seems like the overseas sellers are flooding the items description with so many key words its typically the top result.
@@TheATVHustle I know with some cars, you can get more money from the parts than you can with a running car. Didn't know if was the same for some atvs.
@@TexasRedneck yea pretty much is. I bought a Lexus yesterday I might just part out lol
@@TheATVHustle haha
Do you ship parts through usps or ups or fedex
99% i go USPS, the big heavy stuff goes UPS. I don’t use Fedex at all any more since they were back billing me on. every package $10-$30
eBay is a disaster
It is still an easy way to make money, it can be some ones trash turned to cash.
Great Video!!!! Thank You
You bet!
I buy eBay sometimes 😊
Awesome!
Ebay NEVER backs their sellers.
Unfortunately not anymore, they sort of used to when i started.
I hate the 1099 at the tax time.
I dont enjoy paying in either 😢
In 2024, the new fed ex trucks have cameras with facial and license plate recognition. They share ALL of this info with local law enforcement, against your permission and without informing you.
I don't think that is accurate, I know our fed ex trucks here are owned by company operators, that would be such a huge expense for these small companies i don't see it happening. They barely keep the ones that say fedex on them running.
More cons than pros
When its up its great, but when sales are down and the issues start to arise its not so fun.
I wish Ebay had humans too!
Right!
they used to!
eBay selling is crap, so much competition. eBay buying is overpriced compared to years ago.
Everything has gone up in cost but ebay is still cheaper than amazon for the same product.
Can’t watch, making me dizzy.
Bro thy sent me a on line Internet book 📖 instead of the real thing 😢
What Book?
It's all cons on eBay now. A truly horrible company.
It's not as good as it once was but it is still a good platform to make some money if you need some cash in the bank.
Ebay 22% fees for selling your item, then u got to pay taxes on your sales at end of year and the customer is always right just by saying item not as described even with an as is sale. Mercari is were it's at, no selling fees - F-ck ebay
I haven't tried Mercari, maybe I'll give that a shot!
No pros just all cons
Its easy money is a pretty big pro.
Appreciate your insught and experience.. but your camera work is atrocious lol.. I've never gotten motion sick from a TH-cam video until today lolol
Thanks for the feedback!
Looks like a prison. Lighten up
The old shops lighting was terrible.
@@TheATVHustle I hope so
I wouldn't recommend anyone to start a business on eBay. 🤮🤮🤮
It’s better than working most typical day jobs and definitely can pay better.
What would you recommend and what is your sales background?
I would recommend ebay. It supplies you with thousands of customers.
Feeeeeeeebay 😆
I agree, and no tire kickers on eBay, they buy it goes away, marketplace tons of questions lowball etc etc
