Va-144 was deployed aboard Constellation in 64. My father was a pilot in 144 and participated in the strikes of august to december. They originally left port in Jan or Feb and did not come back until early 65.
Yeah, go ahead and laugh 😁 I decided that P-47 is not completely different from the A-1. F-8 was involved too but I completely skipped it cause there's nothing like that in DCS. Us content creators must do with what we have 😊
@United States Of America No, I actually meant Skyraiders. It was a joke because the 'Skyraiders' that appear in the video are in fact P-47 Thunderbolts. Because there are no real Skyraiders in DCS to this was an approximation.
@@dmutant2635 It's very complicated to develop a module for simulation such as DCS World. A proper flyable high-fidelity module takes years to develop and costs more than a million dollars. Even simple, AI models can take months. And when you list all the airplanes (plus ships and vehicles) it would be impossible to have them all. But F-8 Crusader is being developed. And so is MiG-17.
Thanks for commenting! I always need to make some compromise. There were also F-8 Crusaders involved but there's nothing anywhere near them. Not yet, at least because F-8 for DCS is being developed.
Well, yeah 😁 Three types took part in this raid. A-4, A-1 and F-8. I realized that P-47 was not completely, 100 percent absolutely different than the A-1 so it kinda stands in. There's nothing even remotely similar to the F-8 so I just ignored that. But good news, there will be an F-8 module in the future! Thank you for your comment!
Just came across your channel. Loving the content. My Uncle flew the A-4 in Vietnam off the Bon Homme Richard and Coral Sea. Noticed that the A-4's in this video are from the Oriskany nd not the 2 carriers mentioned. Also saw a plane from the Bon Homme Richard. Interesting. All in all, a great video.
Thanks for the comment. It's hard to be precise with the skins because it takes time and skills to do them. So, the number of available skins is limited. I use the correct ones if I can find them but approximate if I can't. Sometimes, there's the right squadron skin but from a different period when they were on another carrier. There's a lot of approximation in this video, probably more than in others.
Da 😁 Imam u pripremi dosta copyright free glazbe za vijetnamski period ali je sva više u stilu kasnih 60-tih i ranih 70-tih. To se ne bi uklapalo u '64 ali sam našao ovaj surf koji se uklapa. Barem mislim 😊
I liked the video and definitely the Vietnam era, wasn't crazy about the shoot down, it appeared the aircraft disappeared next thing you know the pilot is floating down? Good info
Thank you for your comment. It might be that I rushed the recording of that scene a bit. I was anxious to finish the video. You reminded me that perhaps it's better to put a little more effort instead of thinking about how to release as soon as possible.
It might just have been a radar anomaly on the second, the fact that there’s no visual sightings give credence to this….however given the disparity between a fast moving torpedo boat and a relatively slow fishing thrawler,it couldn’t be misidentification,it might just come down to jittery nerves on the part of the radar operators and a jumpy bridge crew…..not to mention an antsy CIC staff….
That second attack never happened, but the White House invented that one lied about the incident making it appeared worst so they could have more resources for the conlict.

It is possible. Although, perhaps it wouldn't necessarily make a very exciting video. He entered the airspace over North Vietnam and then he was shot down by SAM.
He was released in February of 1973, among the first group of released American POWs. I believe no other American POW in Vietnam War spent more days in captivity.
@@showtime112 Also, do you know if the first pilot that died (A-1 Skyraider pilot), died because he was incapacitated and crashed his plane or because he didn't have an ejection seat and crashed into the ground before deploying his parachute ?
That was before some WWII destroyer mods appeared. It may seem strange but this was the only ship in the game which was not completely different from the target ship.
Just found and joined your channel, I'm liking what I'm seeing (though I'm having trouble hearing, maybe turn up your mic volume a bit?) Really like your intros. I'll be binging your videos tonight with a nice cup of tea :)
Thank you very much for your comment and subscription. And also for bringing my attention to the sound problem. Perhaps it can be resolved by turning down the in cockpit volume. I often deliberately put it up (and the mic slightly away from my mouth) in order to mask some breathing noises an such. Plus, it sounds a bit more realistic. However, I might try to keep it down to make my voice more clear. Keep watching, a new video is coming today.
From what I’ve been led to understand the Maddox Incident never really happened & was used as an excuse to start launching air strikes against the North. Still a great video though. 👍
Well, the second incident is highly doubtful. The first one might have happened. If it had, this is what it might have looked like. Thanks for the comment.
That's all you got?!? How about USS Maddox? A Russian corvette. A-1 Skyraiders? P-47s. Skyhawks are later, E models with hump instead of C models. F-8s were supposed to be there too but where are they? You are not very good at this 'spot the difference' game 🤣🤣🤣
Don't you think I would have used A-1s if they were available? Compromise is the only way to make these videos. If you don't like it, you can always watch similar content with 100% accuracy. No, wait. You can't. Because it doesn't exist!
Close to 7 million tons of of explosives were dropped on Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia as compared to the 1.5 million tons (including the two atomic bombs) dropped by all sides during the six years of WWII. And Vietnam was the first and last war to date that the US was militarily defeated since the Indian wars, the War on Mexico, and Spanish/American War. And they have in common that all were started under false pretense.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This video really deserves a good remake as there are too many approximations.

The water splash scene is very original
That wasn't planned at all. It just sort of appeard in the final edit and I decided to add the sound effect. But I think it came out right.
Excellent historical content
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Great video as always!
Thanks!
Good to see the P47 is back in service

Just found this channel, subscribed immediately, great vids keep 'em coming!
Thank you very much for your support! I hope you will enjoy other videos as well.

Just read the book Bloody 16 that featured some of these A-4 squadrons.
Kind of nice to see them 'flying'.
I haven't read that one but I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
Nice music!
Yeah, I thought it reflected this period quite nicely!
More good content from you!
And more supportive comments from you 😉
Cool Vidz!! ;)
Thank you very much. Another one about Vietnam is coming out soon, I hope you like that one too!
Man, we really need Vietnam map in DCS. And more aircraft. And I don't say it because your I think video looks lame 😇
You're better not or I'm banning you from the channel 😁😁😁
Also, couldn't agree more about the map and aircraft.

Do you know when DCS will add models for historically accurate aircraft, for this time?
Skyraider is being developed. So is F-8 Crusader but it's unlikely that they will be released anytime soon. By that I mean at least next two years.
I'm pretty sure the second torpedo attack never happened and the Maddox was being paranoid, but I might be wrong
That second one is questionable at best, that's true. Many even doubt the first one.

I can't find the A4 download on DCSWorld.com anymore. Anyone got a link? Does it work on 2.5?
You can download it here: heclak.github.io/community-a4e-c/
It works on current version, both stable and beta
