Great job ! - all it needs now is a riving knife and a clear Perspex blade guard and a wooden push stick and you have one very useful tool there !

I love it! I would not have even come close to give old stuff a creative purpose like this. Thank you for sharing the idea! Those with safety concerns, can modify theirs accordingly; if they are even building one. Thanks again!

I enjoyed every step of your work on your project ..... brilliant .... the heat dissipation, the use of bearings , the dust collector the guide ...everything ....u used multiple skills and you engineering is like perfect ....you should be designing tools for a major company ....gooood work ...now let me go find a motor to make one ....I like also how you fit everything together ....perfect

All the smoke and char reminds me of a visit to my shop by a neighbor 40 years ago . He made a great show of squinting through the smoke and of sniffing the air then he said, "Ah, yes, I had a wood burning set when I was a boy."

Very nice use of old motor. Very creative way of making a mini table saw that can actually be used to make diy projects.

In spite of some criticisms from people who probably enjoy criticism for the sake of criticism itself, as long as some safety warnings are added along the way, I would not hesitate to give this a "two thumbs up "rating or better! This was fun to watch and would be fun to build as well. My thoughts began to take on the general theme of "that is SO.O.o.o... Cute! I am not so old that I can't remember my childhood, when I tried to make and build just about anything I became interested in! Stuff like this would have been a top notch number one winner! My greatest problems would have been (1) I had no money to buy anything so I would have had to make or find in junk or anything discarded for all parts- the blade comes first to mind (2) I would have had little concept of safety. This one is a big deal, and I hope anyone who may try this is CAREFUL to the point of being a little scared!
With all things in mind, the final result is.....dare I say.......CUTE! I love it!

Thousands of dollars worth of equipments, you have saved many Students(viewers) an arm and a leg.
I have worked on Industrial Table Saw's & they also have a Kickback issue, so it up to the User's knowledge on the consequences involved, to know before hand how to avoid dangerous accidents, which then, will not occur...
Great job, keep up the Talent, most enjoyed & Appreciated..

Wow are you dedicated! You get an A for effort. Not sure how often it is that someone would need that thin kerf and I definitely think that thin blade could still do a lot of finger damage. Plus, if you continue to run your stock through the blade as you did (Yes, I know it was only 1/4 plywood) you can expect to bend that blade soon.

You sir are gifted with a high degree of invention intuitiveness and possess excellent skills using materials at hand. Be very proud of your work in whatever you do and remember, that it's usually people adding their two cents worth because they do nothing and are very jealous of people such as yourself. If these constant complainers spent one half the time learning and building, they would find life a lot more pleasing and not in despair and trying to pull everyone down to their pits. God bless and keep on inventing things. Engineer

I anticipate further comments about the kickback . At these sizes and power of saw it is not dangerous in my view. I use saw of three months , mainly for plywood and MDF . Sometimes the workpiece "returns " lightly hopped , like the film , but I do not mind . However, In your designs you can think about some miniature simple protection made from two pieces of sheet metal. :)

the teeth should be cutting against the table. what direction is the blade sinking

    • @EscapeMCP
      @EscapeMCP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The kickback is probably because he is feeding the work through the blade from the waste (left hand) side. Once the cut is made the piece on the right moves a small amount (as it is still in contact with the blade) and then it's pinched between the blade and fence and you got mini kickback. Doesn't look very dangerous though, due to the lack of power.

a riving knife would prevent that he could of made one or bought small cheap table saw and it would be safer because you dont have to worry about the blade being cockeyed or the fence being at an angle and then your cuts would be at an angle

  • @paulbradley2472

I like that. I think I would try to add a rivving knife as a safety measure but, even so, it's a great idea and it does seem to work so well done mate. It would be great for anyone making small boxes and other small stuff.

Great for small project and quick cuts on small parts. Good idea!
A couple of things, stick an IKEA meter instead of burning marks for the measurement, as burning marks are too thick. Also i saw there is some kick back, so you need to align the fence with the blade, or some parts might be shot nback in your face :)
    But indeed great build!

Great video. Love the workmanship. You've done a wonderful job building this saw. as to those who talk smack... Maybe one day they will be smart enough to build something of their own. If you need safety instructions with a table saw.. maybe you should stick to legos. It's common sense that a table saw can and will cut the hell out of you if you aren't careful. I will be building something similar when I'm done building my 3 axis cnc machine.

You are getting kick back from the wide short boards. You put in a mitre slot, a slide and should register them for cutting length against the fence with a setting block and then take the block out so the board travels freehand on the mitre slide. Safer firster.
