This model has a chime that sounds straight out of a toyota but the SX model has one that sounds really similar to the BMW chime. Can kia make anything of their own?
I've had my 2011 Lx for 4 years now. Bought it with just around 65k and now with 141k it still sounds exactly the same as this one with 36k. They're great cars. My front suspension and steering components are starting to go little by little but with 140k in the pothole/rough road capital of the world I guess that's to be expected. Bias review. These are solid cars!
Did it turn out good? My girlfriend is wanting to get one but we want to know what kind of problems the car gives. She doesn't know much about cars but she is really good at scheduling and paying things off. She always gets her oil changes done on time as well as other things that a car needs
How does it compare to 2012 TSX? Is TSX worth extra $7k? I think if you choose Optima EX ($22k)- it comes with leather and it is very similarly equipped to TSX. I drove Optima LX and it felt very good and modern. I also drove 2012 Accord SE and it felt very dated comparing to new Optima. So I am wondering if TSX worth extra cash? Also xoquixxoqafxo have you tried 2012 Camry SE - I would be interested to see your comments?
this car looks way better than a Honda Accord and the 10yr/100,000mile warranty makes it a must buy. there are no recalls on this car or hyundai sonata very reliable as well, and the resale value is expected to be high thanx to its warranty. This reviewer is the biggest Honda troll there is.
I love these new Optimas. They seem heaps and bounds better than the older ones. Same goes for the Hyundai Sonata. I understand the Accord is a good car that has established an impressive reputation going back decades but it just bores me to death when compared to these newer Hyundais & Kias.
@blackseries99 Yes there's a problem, either you were dropped or you lacked oxygen way back, you chose. Accord has done it's time and the current gen is as Japanese as fried chicken, over-assisted and quite frankly just went into the "just another Camry" category.
I'd pay 31k for this car fully loaded. Not expensive, and not necessarily cheap either, but you do get a lot for your money. I do agree though that the SX is the one to go for.
Thats bc Kia needed to when they first came here bc their name stood for poor quality, their ten year warranty is just a bonus now, while they are improving, there are still a lot of ppl out there that think of the name kia as a cheap brand, while I am not one of them, I'd still have a hard time buying a Korean car today
I looked at the optima when I bought my Forte, but its too big a car for me. Plus, when I drove them, the 2.4 in my SX revs up pretty easily, but the GDI in the optima and sonata really doesn't. Oh well. Its a nice car, but I'll wait to get one till I can get a Fully Loaded SX in Corsa Blue
What is this modern obsession with a quite engine, and smooth ride? I guess I'm biased because my first car was a truck, but I like to HEAR my engine, and FEEL the road. The noisier the better IMO, but I guess I'm just weird... :p
I'd love an SX in black! I see lot's of these. I also never noticed that slit in the windshield. I'm more open-minded with the Kia badge. If the almighty Toyota can suck as much as they do today, then how come Kia can never get better? The designer you're thinking about is Peter Schreyer.
@talldude123 Kia means cheap yes but how are they reliable? I NEVER see any kias on the road older than 05/06 and if I do they are usually in awful shape and sound like they are about to die. All of my family and friends who have owned kias/hyundais have had nightmare reliability. Its nice to see kia is actually trying with their new cars but I don't trust them at all!
I know people are going to get pissed at me for being a brand snob but anything with a Kia logo on it just looks cheap to me. I'm also just not a fan of kia's new funky styling on their cars.
Hyundai/kia have come along way. I dont agree with their pricing. Yes you can get into one of these cheap but then it looks cheap. Those wheels ruin the car!!! The interior with cloth looks cheap too. Im a honda guy but im starting to love hyundai/kia. They are doing interiors way better than honda. Especially exteriors as well. Nothing drives like a honda though. Smooth, refined and sporty no matter what car you get
Actually...Toyota and Honda have both always been striving towards the benchmarks set by Volkswagen...Even though the Jetta isn't what it used to be...but that's just because they're trying to cater what they think Americans want. Seriously though, slam the door on an Accord and then do the same on the VW Passat. The Passat is a TANK. Accords are noisy too and don't soak up bumps as well as the Passat.
@NotARealUTubeAccount that is expensive! there was a time when Kia was 3-4 grand less expensive and now they are pretty much the same price as other cars... I just can't get myself to spend that much on a Korean car no matter how nice it looks or all the nice features it has... I can't help that I prefer a better name brand, there are a lot of ppl out there like that tho
most people like the styling of the 2011 sonata more. most people like curvy more than this design. The sonata looks like it's worth more than it really is. anyway, this car is shit compared to the beautiful sonata, inside and out. the interior of the sonata limited is especially nice. better colors too.
Go test drive a TSX and see for yourself, it just feels a class above this plebeian midsize sedans. Yes I have test drove a 12 Camry SE and was impressed with how it drove but its still bland looking on the outside and the inside didn't impress me that much either. The Camry is new this year but once the 13 Fusion and Accord comes out the Camry will become dated again
@codeGard17 Right now, this car in SX trim would be on my top 3 list for a family sedan, however, when the 2013 Accord and Fusion come out it would knock this one to third lol
This model has a chime that sounds straight out of a toyota but the SX model has one that sounds really similar to the BMW chime. Can kia make anything of their own?
I have a 2011 Optima Lx with 14K and I love the car! As for the guy's saying it looks cheap inside I ask what are you comparing it to?
I have a 2018 forte with 15k miles do uh still have your optima?
It's funny how you bag on the optima when you own a Fit XD
I've had my 2011 Lx for 4 years now. Bought it with just around 65k and now with 141k it still sounds exactly the same as this one with 36k. They're great cars. Well the argument is hard to prove now bcus they are built in Westpoint Georgia and their design is Euro dynamics to Altimas, Accords and Acuras
You gotta accept it man...Hyundai and Kia are up there with the top brands now.
Got a 2012 Optima EX fully loaded... LOVE IT!!!
I just got one of these only 88,000 miles paid 4 grand for it awesome car
Did it turn out good? My girlfriend is wanting to get one but we want to know what kind of problems the car gives. She doesn't know much about cars but she is really good at scheduling and paying things off. She always gets her oil changes done on time as well as other things that a car needs

the push thing @ 4:10 is called a Pin Switch...

KOKO PUFFS Actually a bad resale value, also there was a recall on the engine recently. Accords don’t need a 10yr warranty.
What I find odd is the SX has different door chimes than the base one.
I love these new Optimas. They seem heaps and bounds better than the older ones. Same goes for the Hyundai Sonata.

Does anyone know the hp for the 2.4 engine for this car?
200
i love the video and it was a great review because he gave yu a good judgment from a costumer perspective
I'd pay 31k for this car fully loaded. Not expensive, and not necessarily cheap either, but you do get a lot for your money. I do agree though that the SX is the one to go for.

this car is sooooo good.
damn, roasting my home-country's car manufacturer :c
Chime reminds me of the 1998 Toyota sienna.
I like this car a lot. and that blue color is nice. but the price still under cuts honda ( price wise )
Nice review. All you did was whine and complain
Lol on an 8 year old video
@Jakeman21642 Why the hell does it matter anyways?? Its just a chime, don't get why people get so pissy over it
@codeGard17
lol that wasnt a bump, i ran through a deep puddle lol
They should have standard 17" wheels
I looked at the optima when I bought my Forte, but its too big a car for me. Plus, when I drove them, the 2.4 in my SX revs up pretty easily, but the GDI in the optima and sonata really doesn't. Oh well. Its a nice car, but I'll wait to get one till I can get a Fully Loaded SX in Corsa Blue
@WoZIMoo Accord > Optima
PROBLEM?

@WoZIMoo
sorry, i go back to honda bc I still think they are the standard to measure everything else against
The Sorrento is an SUV a completely different type of car!
I'd love an SX in black! I see lot's of these. I also never noticed that slit in the windshield. I'm more open-minded with the Kia badge. If the almighty Toyota can suck as much as they do today, then how come Kia can never get better? The designer you're thinking about is Peter Schreyer.

Agreed :)

The design of the steering and dashboard are really disappointing. I would have go for Optima instead of Sonata if they have a better interior design.
C-pillar is a mess, otherwise very nice
@NotARealUTubeAccount

He's disses the Toyota sound chime, i like it .. Better than the welfare sound there using in the new camry's

And $31000 for a fully loaded top of the line Turbo car isn't really that expensive...

you sound just like the guy from 2theredline
hadar Warner that is him before he started being on 2theredline
@codeGard17
Right now, this car in SX trim would be on my top 3 list for a family sedan, however, when the 2013 Accord and Fusion come out it would knock this one to third lol
Honda salesperson...
Quit comparing everything to Honda holy shit man...
Kia offers a 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty. Honda doesn't. Plain and simple.
But the difference is that a Honda wouldn’t need to be fixed🤗
the accord,civic, and insight are mediocre at best,
Wow, this base model of the Optima looks cheap as hell inside.
It may be, one of the stupidest cars I've ever seen.
@SubieSean i agree its ugly
