The song is about Okayu being a god and helping people dissatisfied with their lives by offering positive reinforcement. I think it's based of the fact that Okayu is known for being 全肯定(zenkoutei) or very positive towards people saying things like "Just the fact that you're alive is amazing".
When the song goes darker in tone, that could represent the negatives of over relying on her instead of getting real help but that could just my crazy theory.
I really didn't realise how deep the song was! Amazing writing by the sounds. 💯❤️
Okayu went from not liking her own voice to bringing out banger after banger!

Song is basically people calling out for help, because they are depressed / self-conscious / etc. and Okayu saying she will affirm everyone, telling them "good job", "well done", etc. She will be your cat-god that is all-seeing, all-loving. The part where it turned a bit darker was her singing about how todays society is based around an expectation to be performative, getting those likes and follows, so she will be the one that will cheer you on (so why don't you worship her as a god?).

I absolutely adore the 'all-affirming Okayu', it is the running gag among the Holo girls and I'd never imagined she'll make it into an original song. My sides almost exploded while listening to this!
This song is basically Okayu being a god and listening to prayers and and cries for help and granting them
From what little rusty Japanese I retained from over a decade ago, it sounds like she's also being a bit cheeky/sassy about it with responses like "Oh, you're coming to _me_ for help? (smug grin)" "oh, your trouble sounds _horrible_ ... (smug grin)" "sure, I'll grant your wish. Aren't I just _the best_ ?"
Basically, she's getting the cat part of cat god down to a T.
And don't forget she's asking for "donations/offerings" to grant their wishes.

Okayu character literally a cat. Only one real cat in hololive. Her voice quite unique and soothing. You can check on more of her originals on her channel.

You need to check out her cover of Flos, it's fantastic and one of her most well known songs!
You can always count on Okayu to write a bouncy rock song with a catchy pre-chorus, leading into a BOPPY chorus that contrasts with her calm voice YET it still works perfectly for her 👍

This feels like a counterpart to Korone's "Doggy God Street", both in tone and theme. The comedic and "above all" vibe of a godly being, graciously bestowing their time onto the lower beings. It also plays off of the naming conventions of their generation's naming convention: All of "Hololive Gamers" have family names that invoke divine beings. Korone's is more straightforward, literally being dog (="inu") + god (="kami") -> Inugami. Okayu on the other hand is directly named after the "Nekomata" of Japanese folklore, which are cats that managed to ascend and gain supernatural abilities over a long life.
For something less on the comedic side from her, you could check out her originals _"Swallow the Venom"_ (毒杯スワロウ) or _"Akkanbe"_ (あっかんべ), or - one of my personal favorites and the song that got me interested in her singing in the first place - her cover of _"Lost Petri"_ (失楽ペトリ), which is deliciously ominous.

The song is called Kami-sama Nekosama. "Kami" being the Japanese word for god / "neko" the Japanese word for cat / "sama" is just a honorific suffix use in Japanese typically for people of higher status and respect. From what I can tell It's basically a cheeky song about her either being the Cat God or impersonating the Cat God (which is often mistaken for the Nekomata - another supernatural cat being that is reference to her name). Japan believes in multiple gods for different aspects of life and the Cat God statue (shown in the MV) is said to bring good luck.
Anyone who can decipher it better, feel free to correct.
As for Okayu herself, she has grown immensely in the last year. Watching her 3D Live just now, it's clear she's become a real performer. Her music just has this feel its gone up another level lately, so all her hard work she's putting in is coming to fruition. Paying for that 3D Live (studio and all) just shows she's serious about what she creates. All the power to her, she's a real treat to watch as a streamer and an idol.

Man, Okayu is so much fun! I agree, her voice is great. I would actually rate her up there with Towa since Okayu also has that sort of lower range voice, but also can do some pretty impressive range too. The entire album this is from, Poisonya Syndrome, is just fantastic and I highly recommend checking it out. Not a single song on that album I didn't like! The really interesting thing about Okayu is that when she first started with Hololive, she was very self-conscious about her voice and actually didn't like her voice at all. After a lot of convincing from her fans, she started to warm up to it and released Mogu Mogu. Since that became such a hit, she became much more willing to sing and eventually decided to make an entire album where she could explore a bunch of different styles and genres (every song on that album is different and it's great). This was definitely a song from the album that I was hoping we'd see an MV from and I was not disappointed, lol. Others in the comments have done a better job explaining the content in the song, so I'll leave that part be. Great video, dude!
I listened to this one in Okayu's "Poisonya Syndrome" album and while not my favourite of the album it still such a bop. I really recommend the album, it's really goodm
I'm still recommending Ever Blue by Polka now that you heard one of her more upbeat songs and after that the cover of Mafia by Kronii Ouro, it'll awaken something in you.
Sadly he probably won't react to Chloe's new cover, since he has already heard that song sang by Ayame a few days ago.

Oh btw, this is just a bit trivia, but both Okayu and Korone actually besties even in real life. They have a pairing name, "OkaKoro", and trust me, once you got hit by an OkaKoro clip, you can't stop watching them both together. They're so close and wholesome with each other, and you might realize that, this song title, Kami-sama Neko-sama, is similar to Korone's Doggy God Street, cuz it can be translated as Cat God. Okayu may or may not chose this song title specifically because of Korone 👀

OMG YES I saw the upcoming premiere yesterday and I was hoping you'd react to this! It's part of Okayu's solo album release, which came as a very welcome surprise to a lot of fans, After all, even among the talent-saturated Hololive, only a handful have released a full-on solo album; the only ones I'm aware of are Sora, Suisei, Watame, Calli and AZKi (which I don't think you've reacted to yet). I've personally bought it and listen to it regularly in the bus back from work, it's so catchy and fun. I hope you'll eventually react to more of her, she's honestly up there with Suisei, Towa and Kanata as my favourite JP vtuber vocalists.

I think this was from her album, I haven't listened to this yet but I have heard "Akkanbe" and "Swallow the poison" and those are really really good. Akkanbe actually scared me multiple times.
Okayu can also sing very emotional or dark songs and they are BANGERS!!
I would recommend lost petri, flos, dokuhai swallow, doku no oujisama. Really hipe you can check them out!!
Another recommendation from Okayu I can give is Akkanbe
Okayu has an amazing voice and a lot of great original songs and covers. One of my favorites is her original Akkanbe, it's an absolute banger! Also her cover of Flos is a classic in Hololive.
Another amazing singer is Kanade Izuru from Holostars, he has an incredible voice and some of my favorite songs in HoloPro. I highly recommend Tsuranaru Monoroogu (Monologue in a Row) and his cover of Aishite Aishite Aishite (Love Me Love Me Love Me), absolute amazing pieces of music.
Kami-sama translates to God so..... kinda explains the visuals.

Okayu doesn't just have an adorable voice, she's a true vocal powerhouse. You should check out some of her other songs, for example her covers of "flos" and "cat eye makeup" are good examples. Or for example her original "Akanbe" with DECO*27 since you seem to like them a lot.
Overall Okayu (at last count) has 8 Original songs and 36 Covers, she's one of the most prolific cover singers in Hololive!

This MV is amazing. It has 100% the look and feel of a Flash video shitpost from the early to mid 2000s and I'm absolutely sure this is TOTALLY INTENTIONAL.
The cat God theme really fits, not just with Okayu but also because it was release on the 22/2 - in Japanese 2 (Ni) sounds similar to meow (nyan) so the 22nd of February is known as cat day.
Okayu herself is one of the more creative and varied singers, she can do catchy, light and soothing (Flos), songs which are trippy, that have dark undertones and she's one of the few members to have done a heavy metal style song (Akabane).
Previously we got Doggy God, now we have Kami-sama(God) Cat, Yep Okayu makes some very catchy tunes.
Also, I recommend you check out Polka's latest original song: Persona it's quite the song.
My favorite Okayu song is „Prince of Poison“ it comes right before this one

So I don't know what the lyrics are any more than you, but the title gives a bit of context. Kami = God, Neko = Cat and Sama is an honorific you use to be extremely respectful. So given this is about some sort of cat god or worshiping a cat a lot of the imagery makes at least some sense.
This song came out a few months back on an entire album Okayu released and I'll be honest I sort of slept on this one. The album has a lot of bangers and this song didn't really do much for me. But now that I've seen this fever dream of a meme filled MV I'm reevaluating that a bit.
I do hope you listen to more Okayu. Mogu Mogu Yummy is very catchy but I don't think it shows off her singing talent as much as some of her later songs (same for this one tbh). As I already said, she has some real bangers and some of them are as different from Mogu Mogu Yummy as U.F.O. is from Pallet.
