Hololive's queens of city pop! I live for the 80's vibes from these two. I know Luke knows about Marine's city pop skills, but Gura's city pop karaoke streams were absolutely s-tier.

They did a great job recreating the 80s synthesizer sound, but for both "Showa" style concerts Marine held, I am sure the sound engineers had a kick out of them. It's a running joke that Marine is of "advanced age", for want of a better word, for the fact that she's well-versed in Showa period popular culture, and Marine ran with it. Obviously, she is far from old and that's what makes it funny.

This song fits so much with what Marine and Gura are used to singing because they both love doing "City Pop" sounds from the 1970s and 80s. You should also listen to the Marine 3D concert that she did yesterday. She sang two duets with Gura, including this one. It is very much like the concert she did last year where all of the songs were a lot like this one.
Gura and Marine are so perfect for a City Pop song, it's unreal. This is perfection, the MV is incredible and their singing is soooo good. I absolutely love this. For an older Marine song, her cover of 人間が大好きなこわれた妖怪の唄/Ningen ga Daisukina Kowareta Youkai no Uta is very underrated.

I think the ending is meant to show an unrealized moment that both of them each desire but which which ultimately remains nothing but a fantasy of their uninhibited selves - which for Gura is _always_ represented as Gawr taking charge. Given that Marine is the type who's always desperately wanting to have those types of connections to others and frequently has original songs with lyrics that reflect that, while Goomba is *_VERY_* shy and nervous around people she looks up to, I feel like this song is really a perfect culmination of how the two of them feel deep down - not necessarily about each other but also not necessarily not that either. Additionally, there is a REALLY comedic bit of animation by the same team during Marine's 3D Live of the two of them changing from casual into their idol coatumes before singing this live thats worth checking out as well.

Look at the description of the clip. A huge team worked on its creation. The music was recorded by live musicians, and not on a computer, as is done in most songs lately. And the animation was done by a professional studio working on anime production. They created animation in the spirit of old school anime, the era of the 80s and 90s. And Marine from the very beginning had a gorgeous low timbre, which over time she simply learned to control masterfully! Yes, on karaoke streams she often plays dumb and doesn’t hit the notes, but on recordings she sounds perfect. Music in the spirit of classic anime openings and city pop (the so-called genre of Japanese pop music of the 70-80 era) is the direction for which Marine was created. I hope to hear a whole scattering of such nostalgia-inducing hits performed by her!

I love how you avoided the more "Marine" ending in which Gura "ate" Marine instead of the other way around. Of course it could just be my degenerate expectations for Marine after Treasure Box.
idk why people are literally thinking Gura ate Marine... like, this is Marine we're talking about, y'know, Treasure Box? You wouldn't say Marine is just trying to open up a box/door lol? The whole video has romantic tones to it. The eating? More or less implies the same as in Treasure Box, and is kind of an artful censorship, like blooming flowers or other such cutaways. In the context of the story, Marine was basically sad but ready to say goodbye to Gura, who ends up reciprocating as her more feral, animalistic side takes over, 'eating' Marine and leaving her with one last memory. Hence why the whole song mentions a flashback at the beginning, the rest of the MV being those memories.
It's too much of a culture shock for some. It's pretty obvious in what sense she ate Marine, and not only does it make perfect sense, it's the only route the MV could unfold unless it's a sad ending.
Too explain the ending, Gura vored Marine. Then Gura appeared inside her own body, just like how Super Buu appeared inside his own body. But unlike Super Buu, who appeared inside his own body to fight some dudes, Gura appeared inside her own body to experience ecstasy with Marine. This is the story of how they met and got busy of course.
Look at the description of the clip. A huge team worked on its creation. The music was recorded by live musicians, and not on a computer, as is done in most songs lately. And the animation was done by a professional studio working on anime production. They created animation in the spirit of old school anime, the era of the 80s and 90s.
And Marine from the very beginning had a gorgeous low timbre, which over time she simply learned to control masterfully! Yes, on karaoke streams she often plays dumb and doesn’t hit the notes, but on recordings she sounds perfect. Music in the spirit of classic anime openings and city pop (the so-called genre of Japanese pop music of the 70-80 era) is the direction for which Marine was created. I hope to hear a whole scattering of such nostalgia-inducing hits performed by her!

idk why people are literally thinking Gura ate Marine... like, this is Marine we're talking about, y'know, Treasure Box? You wouldn't say Marine is just trying to open up a box/door lol? The whole video has romantic tones to it. The eating? More or less implies the same as in Treasure Box, and is kind of an artful censorship, like blooming flowers or other such cutaways.
In the context of the story, Marine was basically sad but ready to say goodbye to Gura, who ends up reciprocating as her more feral, animalistic side takes over, 'eating' Marine and leaving her with one last memory. Hence why the whole song mentions a flashback at the beginning, the rest of the MV being those memories.
It's too much of a culture shock for some. It's pretty obvious in what sense she ate Marine, and not only does it make perfect sense, it's the only route the MV could unfold unless it's a sad ending.

But unlike Super Buu, who appeared inside his own body to fight some dudes, Gura appeared inside her own body to experience ecstasy with Marine. Gura then went on to continue to live and explore the world with Marine inside her belly, just like the classic vore comic Red and Wolfette.
