    A coach who has been fired each of the last 2 seasons & a franchise that has fired the most coaches the last 6 seasons? Monty & the Lakers are a match made in heaven.

    Our guess is as good as most "insiders" it seems. All these conflicting reports but no one outside of the small front office seems to truly know. I'll refrain from being overly critical of them based off (hit and miss) speculative reports although one thing I can say is that I'm sure fans and decision makers alike must feel drained by how dragged out this has been.
    I've been intrigued with Redick from the start in comparison to the list of underwhelming candidates (besides Ty Lue who was always a pipe dream). Then I preferred Hurley once his name became injected as he seemed to have just as high a perceived ceiling but with less of a risk but in retrospect that seems to have been a pipe dream as well. I would just commit to Redick assuming we can bring on a quality staff. A decision has to be made soon. Right?

  • @robertwilliams-np6wb
    @robertwilliams-np6wb 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Lakers got involved with Hurley. Big mistake. 6 years and 72 M. Now JJ wants 10M a year for 5 years. JJ also needs to add a former head coach or two to the Bench. Now the Lakers need 15 M to coach. Ham made 5M a Year. What did the Lakers offer JJ? They lowballed him for sure and that is the holdup. Lakers are frozen right now afraid to make a mistake.

    As a pistons fan we definitely sucked this year. But at times it felt like Monty Williams was sabotaging this team. Starting Hayes over Ivey. Blowing leads by playing all bench line ups. Pretty much every player except Cade regressed under him. Last year we intentionally tanked for wemby and somehow finished off this season even worse lol

    No confidence in the Lakers getting it right. Might as well hire Linda and Kurt Rambis as co-head coaches and Jay Mohr as an assistant. With a team minus of a strong and competent front office with experienced and smart basketball people (not to mention a strong and capable ownership group), I am not getting my hopes up. Step 1 would to be let Pelinka go and hire Bob Myers. Wishful thinking.

    • @Eastra3
      @Eastra3 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Monty is a significant upgrade over Ham, but I still don't think he's what we need. Now Vogel wasn't the best candidate either, and he still won a chip with us. Many coaches come come in here and get 1 chip, but we are the Lakers. We want a coach with dynasty potential. I do not think Monty is an elite coach that can do that. I am not judging him based on his stint with Detroit, but rather his previous stints, which while successful, shows me he isn't the home run we need. Just seeing how he failed to involve Deandre Ayton's skill set into the offense shows me he doesn't have the elite tier of creativity to be someone who can help the Lakers win multiple rings. If we hire Monty, he will be fired within the next two years, playoff success or not. Now I'm not saying this means I think JJ is that elite coach, because he's a wild card, but I'm just saying that we need to get it right with this one. To me, Rondo is the smartest of all the names that were mentioned, even though he's not being considered for coach, and if one of these guys had him on their staff, I wouldn't be as worried if we don't have an elite tier coach, because I know we would have an elite staff around him.

      @@Eastra3 You don't think Marty is an elite coach, but think JJ is? What is your reason other than he is white? Monty has demonstrated his elite coaching with the Suns, who team was far enferior than the current one coached by average at best coack Vogel.

    1. DLO opts in and get a sign & trade with two future 1R picks for Dejounte Murray.
    2. Reaves / JHS gets traded for Cam Johnson.
    3. Trade Rui & pick 17 for Wendell Carter.
    4. Gary Trent jr for MLE.

      He's owed ~60 mill from his last contract that disappears as soon as he signs a new one.
      It would be fiscally irresponsible to not collect on it a bit, get his mind right, spend time with the family for a year or 2, then take a job when the contract is smaller.
