    I have mixed feelings about this place. I'm not sure why the owner would have thought that all those dead animals on the wall added anything to this chateau. I also found the rooms small and cluttered. Not fond of modern furniture.

    If you take their style of decorating out of it, it’s a beautiful clean slate to put your own style to it. I would certainly want to buy a few pieces. Even if it isn’t your style, it’s well done. Quality and creative decor. Love the soft, neutral colors. I would add some plants to the front. It’s a little hard and plain for me. Some plants would soften it up.

    Such a fairytale setting of modern times. I love it(minus the gallery of many game hunts)! The $4.2 Mil price mark with furnishings included, is rather remarkable. I live in a ski town in Colorado and this place far exceeds what you can get for that, here in Breckenridge. I saw so many clever repurposed ideas...They will probably make their way into my house. Reading the comments, as per any house that is lived in, we must look past the owners' taste and imagine where you will make your mark on this outstanding chateau. Thanks to all three of you!

      It was absolutely fun to look at. But my furnishing tastes are more traditional. It was more like an haute-art-installation and very imaginative. Yet I felt sorry for all the dead birds ...& VULTURES!! The vultures were really over the top! I think the attic works well with all it's odd angles and interesting peaks as the more 'modern-hangout' ...the rest I'd redo a bit.

    I love almost everything about it, but if I actually had the money to purchase, I would want the owners to catalog any stories, history, etc. of the items staying with the chateau.
    It is so well done, but feels like some of the old character is missing. Everything must have a story behind it.
    I would not want any of the animals. They would need to be donated to a natural history museum or whatever. I agree, with everything renovated and the features, out buildings, property, the price is very good in my opinion. Fun to dream.

    It's somewhat disappointing when you see a beautiful period building, just to go inside to see that it has been overly modernized. Those of us looking for a real French Chateau fantasy, want modernized kitchens and baths, that's it!!! I hardly ever see one that has a jacuzzi tub. Instead of piling up a bunch of "stuff" for furnishings, each room should be furnished with period appropriate pieces that are thoughtfully selected. Not all modern buyers want modern everywhere in a chateau.

    Beautiful building and grounds. I nearly turned off when I saw the coloured glass that replace the window ironwork, then the abundance of dead animals were just too much for me... but thats just my personal taste. I loved the antique pieces and mirrors, and am so glad they kept the architraves and fireplaces.... but am not a lover of the cheap modern shelves and fittings. If I had the money I would love to buy it but not the modern bits... they jarr with the character of the building...When i bought my house it had been "modernised" and Ive spent 33 years bringing its original features and character back... This feels as if the architect has done it as a project to show just what he can do rather than what is in character and appropriate for the Chateau... Its a show house not a home.... He could have done a better job....

    Thank you for showing us. I’ve been in Paris when it was -18 Celsius. I can’t imagine that château with those naked walls and no insulation it would be freezing. But I guess if you got $5 million to blow on a château you then can go somewhere tropical when it’s cold.

      It has underfloor heating. And plenty of cosy niches.

    • @MrMrremmington
      @MrMrremmington ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maggiegray1698 Well that would make a huge difference. But stone does get very cold it would add air circulation from cool wall to floors. Here in Canada ( Toronto ) one winter we had -25*C for almost a whole month and I’ll tell you those solid stone buildings became enveloped in frost when it warmed up suddenly 15*c one day. It was magical.

    A beautiful Chateau, and lots of stunning rooms. The out buildings etc are outstanding . When buying a property like this, people need to see what they would change to make it their own.. not what they see at first. Taxidermy is not my thing, but that did not bother me. (I didn't kill it or eat it).... the fixtures,fittings, furniture and the grounds are worth it. Buy a Shell of a Chateau and renovate etc will cost the same!

    i think this château is amazing and the engineering will take this château into the future which will take a lot of the costs of owning a château . some won't like some decor but should look past that . All the work done to perfection i'd say was worth the money

      Couldn't agree more. If you want a modern home, start with a modern building. Those doors and windows are heartbreaking. Otherwise, a lot of the heart could be put back into it with different furnishings but its history seems to have been erased.

    • @kimberlyearly8918
      @kimberlyearly8918 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elisabeth6108 I think to bring some of the history back would be extremely hard. They've obviously covered most of it up so somebody would literally have to get the walls at least somewhat back. In order to do that it would be a royal mess to chip away at all of the modern stuff. When they said they were going to the cellar I thought surely they left the stone and was sorely disappointed. It looks nothing like a chateau cellar or anything else.

    • @elisabeth6108
      @elisabeth6108 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kimberlyearly8918 Agreed. Someone mentioned that it might only date from the early 1900's so it might not be all that great under the plaster. They covered all the beams in the attic too - but maybe they weren't the great old beams other older chateaus have? Who knows. But the sterile white surfaces top to bottom are cold and clinical to me. Guess I'll save my $4m for another chateau. 🤣🤣🤣

    The Chateau is beautiful, I don't care for the dead wildlife in the entrance but that can be removed. I love the fact that they didn't over modernize the kitchen, I would love to have a little bit more of the old -world charm like the windows. I have to admit 4.2 Euros is very cheap for everything that comes with the place. For my American friends that's 4.4 and change closer to 4.5 million in dollars. Overall, the I like the place. I hope you show more in the future and using the relator for the property was a great bonus. Thanks for taking us along. Love from N.Y.
