I remember playing through Total Chaos and loving every single minute of it. It was absolutely amazing in every way. Then, the end. The end was such a huge fucking let down. At least for me. It was all a hallucination? Foh with that film cliché bullshit. I hope this remake changes that ending because otherwise there won't be much of a point to go through it again.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of arena shooters, just regular arena shooters, roguelike arena shooters, as well as co-op multiplayers. I'd like to see more story-driven shooters, with gradual storytelling and progression, rather than when they lock you in an arena with a randomizer. Out of action It's a shame that a game with such dynamics, movements and dodges will be another PvP.
Same for me. Recently played through Rainbow Six 3 that has a story driven campaign. You really don't get FPS games like that now. Lots and lots of 1990s retro throwbacks and multiplayer only games today.
None of these games are arena shooters other than splitgate 2. It’s actually dumb how little amount of arena shooters we have. And the ones we do have the player bases have either all died or they’re just the same game next year (COD if you count that as an arena shooter, since some would count it as an extraction shooter). Most of these games are single player arcade shooters or military sim extraction shooters.
I remember adding Brutal Fate to my wishlist back in like 2019 instantly when I heard the Doom modder for Brutal Doom was making a game, I almost completely forgot it existed until this video. That's how long that project has taken x'D and it still doesn't have a suspected release date
Kook and Muller Madjack, Abyssus, Compound Fracture, Mouse PI For Hire as silver of course the previous ones greats as well - lovely list though very swell
When describing Ferocious you said it seems a little bit like FarCry and then went on to describe FarCry 2-6, forgetting the original. It's got almost exactly the same pitch as the original and that makes it easily the most exciting title on the list.
I REALLY hope Industria 2 delivers. The first Industria part/whatever you want to call it was really good but had issues. I hope they address those small issues because man Industria could be an awesome franchise if it does it right. And oh boy do I want Brutal Fate to be good, because DAMN. Brutal Doom is an incredible Doom mod after all, so if Brutal Fate can deliver as much as say Selaco has - we're golden.
What i miss in this retro madness, is a Unreal 1 styled game. Atmospheric, beautiful levels, accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack. But all those retro games, are just bullet-hells, in PSX graphic
Cruelty Squad is actually a finance fishing game with fps elements. You didn't like it because you're poor and didn't buy your friends and family the game.
The huge amount of boomer shooters listed here is nauseating. Do I have to wait another decade to see new FPS games inspired by the best of the 2000s? Really?
Jokes aside Cruelty Squad is an immersive sim Just like Dues ex, Thief, etc You can approach situations in any way you like and can pull off some pretty creative and stupid shit like assassinating a target via throwing a toilet across the map The game has some interesting lore to it and also meme material so there's that too
Not a fan of all the 1990s styled FPS games flooding the market, but Darkenstein looks fun. Reminds me of a forgotten FPS called Mortyr. Brutal Fate looks good too, but the dev isn't prioritizing releasing that one over his other Doom 2 mod projects. I've waited a long time for a Far Cry with dinosaurs game. Hoping Ferocious finally delivers that game. And since Capcom refuses to bring back Dino Crisis, looking forward to Compound Fracture as well. Been a while since we've received an update on it. Same for Agent 64 too. I'd also add Beneath to this vid. We rarely get single player focused FPS games like that now.
i hope more games get old school graphics, they carry more charm and atmosphere and run so much easier performance wise. condemned, f.e.a.r, gears of war, riddick, and doom 3, half life 2 are great examples of games that look great even for how old they are, and games try to influence from them to this day but never get it right. compound fracture looks like the perfect game for my ally!

4:30 Fun Fact: Total Chaos actually started as a full-coversation mod for Doom (More exactly, the mordern port of the game, GZDoom)
Yeah, to be honest, I was really shocked that he didn't mention that.

This is a great video, I like how you narrate every game, instead of just a slideshow.
Neat list, but too much missing, I feel obligated to extend the list :D
Interesting Indies:
- Covenant
- Paperhead
- Bad Cheese
- Gravelord
- Judas
- Mala Petaka
- Twisted Tower
- Core Decay
- Luna Abyss
- Routine
- The Explorator
- Clockwork Revolution
- Afterblast
- Hellbreak
- Crisol: Theatre of Idols
Larger Titles:
- Borderlands 4
- Dying Light: The Beast
- Outer Worlds 2
- Perfect Dark
- Killing Floor 3
- Doom: The Dark Ages
That's why he does multiple episodes instead of one 2 hr episode.

Core Decay ain't coming out mate, whole team got laid off.

Many great titles I would otherwise never heard of! Ferocious sparked my interest for sure
Another one is Beyond Citadel, the follow up to Citadel.
Banger after banger after banger in this video. I almost wishlisted every title you highlighted.
First rule of boomer shooter dev club: Put your title in all caps
Ferocious is basically far cry

I believe the Rogue Point devs said that their game can also be played in single player format but I could be wrong
Wish it was single player focused. Miss great military FPS games these days.
I just found out that Rogue Point can indeed be played in single player. Team17 confirmed it on Steam
Pretty nice list. Good shit
Bioshock 1+2 whatever that category of shooter is called is what I need.
Same. I'm kinda over the boomer shooter genre. It was fun but they feel the same now
you mean Doom 3 clones? :p
Im-sim lite. Well, we ain't getting many immersive sims to begin with.
You'll want to keep an eye out for Judas than.
My wishlist can't handle this kind of inflation!!!

It's obvious from the first weapon that Kook is inspired by PainKiller

We need a new Unreal Tournament!
Fat fuggin chance lol. Epic owns this IP and they ain't making another one anytime soon.

Are there any FPS games that emphasize exploration but not survival and crafting?
What do you mean by exploration (only)?
@ClemmyGames maybe something similar to Prey but doesn't necessarily have to be an ImSim? I would love to one day see a Skyrim-like game with guns.
