  • Tearing apart a John Deere 4000s winch that was not working when we bought it. We go through it, clean it up, inspect, reseal and install a new pump. If you like this type of stuff let us know in the comments and we will put more videos up!
We do stock new 4000s winches in stock to fit 450-700 Deere hydrostatic machines and log arches.

Usually when those winches fail it is the clutch pack housing in the front that has broken.

My grandfather went thru the depression as a farmer in Colorado. One of the "cash" crops he raised was watermelons. When the depression hit, no one would or could buy his watermelons. My grandfather said it was a blessing in disguise. He and the rest of his family sold all the watermelons at various locations in town. He said that he had never made so much money on his watermelons before.

When watching this, I could not but wonder about the industrial plant used to produce these machines in the first instance. Have you ever been invited to see these things built? I would think that some of the engineering types would be interested in your maintenance procedures beyond the manual. The sales staff would be in the next room scheming about what they could get to fail to total the whole machine. Of course, they all probably religiously watch your channel.

Another quality job done by C&C Equipment. I really like the way you explain every step as your disassembling or reassembling, not that I do that kind of work, but at least I can kind know what each part does or how they operate. I enjoy watching your videos. I'm a handyman in Ft. Lauderdale and there's certain step you have to take to do the job right. There's no side stepping or problems will arise in the long run and you'll be doing the job all over again and losing $$$$. Keep up the good job cause I'll be watching. Be safe n God bless.

I get it but why not soak it with PB lube or something else. I'm a newbie so just curious? Grew up watching dozers, track hoe's and pans. Could sit and watch all day long and could be as content as possible all day, was fascinating to me.

Just a question?, I have that exact same winch on my 650g III skidder. It works great when you are winching in, also when you set it to drag spool, BUT, it will not go into free spool. The free spool drag plug is completely out, have rebuild the piston, and also rebuilt the spool control valve where my winch control cable connects to the winch. I have 200psi hydraulic pressure coming out of the spool control valve going to center piston but still will not free spool. ANY idea what is causing this?. Thanks Dave

Just being nosy but did you guys have a channel before DP or have you started producing content at a higher rate since? I do enjoy watching the repair work being done as much as learning how this equiptment works. Keep on keeping g on.

We have the same winch in a 540 G2 skidder. If you have a heavy drag now it don’t winch them up like it’s slipping got light drags it’s fine could it be that pump your talking about?

Those winch pumps suck. Very poor design by deere. Everyone in my area go through pumps every 1500-2000 hrs. Deere really needs to do better. The winch is a great winch just that weak pump design.

Why wear out you electric tool when you could have grabbed a breaker bar at the same time that you grabbed the socket? No wear and tear on using a breaker bar. You cannot say that about your electric ratchet. The manufactures of electric ratchets that you.
