I finally made it to the bins for the first time and found an Hermes scarf! Paid $22 for a bag of stuff and that scarf, which weighed next to nothing, sold for $100!!

6:51 flawed cashmere still sells - the sell-through rate was insane the last time I checked. lots of crafters and quilters and such will still purchase flawed items to use in their creations! at bins prices it might be worth picking up a few pieces and making a small lot.

Brendon!! I am the former wife of a Navy veteran and I absolutely LOVE that you are so supportive of the military service members, current and past. I am as well. I'm with you on not necessarily agreeing with our governing bodies all the time, but the military folks sure deserve our love and help! Thank you for all that you do and for being just an all around great human. We need more like you and I have been lucky to have some great humans in my life.

I was recently reading a blog from a reseller and she said that she always picks up cashmere, regardless of the condition. I haven't checked it out myself, but she claims that crafters buy damaged cashmere to harvest the yarn. Something to explore, I guess. However, I rarely find cashmere.

even with holes, you can lot up damaged cashmere and sell them as a lot to crafters. It's popular to make "Frankensweaters" with them.

It's been awhile and a lot of things have hindered me from going. My sales have dropped significantly this past month on all platforms...but I just continue to keep plugging away. Make a lot of damaged 100% cashmere sweaters for crafting, knitting, etc. People still buy them. They can go for $15 or so each when put in a lot.

Yes - the coat was 4 lbs so it cost $8. Another $7-10 is worth it for a coat that will sell for $90-$100!

Don’t think you made a mistake leaving the Walls youth jacket. The sell thru on it is already pretty bad and will fall off even worse with summer coming up. Not worth sitting around on something like that for next winter.

Possibly. I saw three solds I think one for $30 and two for $25 but I did not bother checking sell through since this was after the fact. It's possible leaving it was the right decision

I would love to thrift with you at your bins. I haven't been to our bins in months. You can spend all day and maybe end up with half a cart that would be worth selling at more than $12 to $15. a piece.

I'm in Columbus, too! I've only been to the bins twice so far and have done pretty well! Definitely get there early if you want a cart. The homeless population keeps taking them, but you can't blame them. They say Goodwill on them 😅 Good for them!🙂

Could you help me figure out if I'd be able to pay the rent? I want to live at Seigel Suites by the bins. It's a 30 minute walk. I'd bring my own shopping cart which can hold about $50 worth of bins items. I don't drive. The storage unit would be a 20 minute walk from the bins. I could fill the cart twice a day. So $100 of bins items a day to pay $1600 a month rent. Is it doable? I'd quickly fill the cart with bread and butter items. And have a 10x30 storage for $338 a month So that's about $2,000 a month to pay.

Crunching numbers to make it work is easy. The real question is are you disciplined enough to make it work. If you think you are, then there's no reason you can't succeed. This is hard work, and it's a grind. If you think you can, then you can.

@@DadPlanet The hard work can either be listing and shipping. Or sourcing. Depending on whether you want to rapidly throw items in your shopping cart. And get out in an hour or two. Or carefully looking up sold comps all day only buying lucky finds. I don't want to be at the bins all day every day. So I'm willing to buy several worthless items just to source fast. But I'll at least look the media up.

Too bad sell thru looks bad on that departwest had couple good sales. Funny on the color thing blue and gray as my tough ones in different lighting. Great finds. Our salvation army was having 50% shoe sale the other day and first time I've had people going through my cart even at the bins never happened. Did find $100 shoe for $7 though I should have put clothing on top of it haha.
