I dont understand why people over rate industrialist and fencer. Their heavy magic is pretty good for bosses. it's pretty okay for beefys. Their light attack is so overrated. People say it does high damage and is good, but it is literally the same as any other non elemental light magic. I will honestly say that for magic, use red knight because his heavy attack is pretty good for normal mode. And can do get some health down to take down enemies on insane more easily. Also, the rating for industrialist and fencer is C- if you were wondering.
Iceskimo and Blue Knight are really good in insane mode because of the elemental infusion and most of levels to defeat the enemies is basically L + L + L + H and pause and then repeat the move. The reason why not L + L + L + H + H is because the drill combo would hit the enemies once which is okay. I would also say that the knight with elemental for example acid, lightning, ice, and fire are really good in insane mode because the most annoying enemies in the game is the brute and his weakness all elementals except the magic that is non elemental which is good, but it would take a long time.
I've got a couple characters I'm thinking of playing the most when I get back into the game when the dlc drops. If I want an op magic boss shredder I'll go brute because the vine magic is close enough to the industrialist's buzzsaws and I think it's cooler. I'm a melee guy though that always pumps defense first then strength so I'll probably go saracen or bear for the reasons you described. I'm leaning towards saracen though because while bear is cool, has the better tornado, and starts with my favorite weapon in the game I just really dig the saracen and think his light magic being a launcher for juggling instead of a standard projectile that only does damage is really sweet. Other choices I'm considering are beekeeper and barbarian because they're both cool and I like their magic even if they're not particularly good. Granted all of this could be thrown out the window if when the dlc releases I just think one character is easily the coolest looking thanks to the updated designs.
