The process will be same. Just check the band numbers for Landsat 5. like Thermal band of L5 is B6. In the LST calculation formula, put 11.45 for w value (10.8*BT/14388)
@@dawnofgeospatialworld but i see you use images without the “RT” in front of the filename (which indicates that no atmospheric correction is done). Does the landsat file in this video go through atmospheric corrections? If yes, can you show me how? Thank you
I had the same problem, i fixed it by checking my initial data from landsat8. For this tutorial you have to use Lvl 1 data instead of Lvl 2. (In my case i used [ L1TP ] instead of [ L2SP ] from Landsat8)
@@rayjaybalderama3443 As you can see in this video, if you need inland water surface temperature, you can use LST method. There are some small waterbodies in that location & surface temperature was calculated. But if you want to calculate sea surface temperature, there will be different method to calculate that.
Thank you so much!
We are happy to help you!
at 6:17 if I use landsat9 do I still have to use 10.8 for wavelength?
Yes You can use 10.8 for Landsat 8 & 9
Ma'am for Min NDVI values is negative but in the PV formula you taken as positive value instead of (-0.172219)
two negative signs makes one positive sign. (if we minus any negative value then, '- ' + '-' = +)
@@dawnofgeospatialworld at 4:59 shouldnt it be like:
( ( NDVI - ( - 0.172219 ) / ( 0.619821 - ( -0.172219 ) ) )
thus
( ( NDVI + 0.172219 ) / ( 0.619821 + 0.172219 ) )

Thermal band is not available in Sentinel
What would be the LST formula for Landsat 5 TM sensor?
The process will be same. Just check the band numbers for Landsat 5. like Thermal band of L5 is B6.
In the LST calculation formula, put 11.45 for w value (10.8*BT/14388)
Esta formula solo sirve para Ladsat 8, este procedimiento puede servir para Landsat 5 o 9 ?

no
Do we need to do atmospheric correction with SCP plugin before doing this calculations or no?

we to use this method? if we donwload and extract thermal data from ERA 5 or Nasa is it the same?
Maybe data will be little bit changed

Hello, my value of radiance_add_band for landsat 7 is -0.06709, should i still use the negative sign or ignore it?
Yes, Use the negative sign
Hi! thank you, very helpful :) do you have a scholarly source for the method you've used in this video that you could link here?
This is a general method. You can search articles in google scholar.
Is this methodology based on research? If so, can you tell me the name of the article?
This is the general methodology for calculating LST from Landsat 8-9 images

can it be used for water temperature?
Yes you can use it, but it doesn't give the accurate temperature for all time because of the temp. difference between Land & Water.
do I still need to calculate the ndvi for water temperature? If not, what should I calculate?
